A few years ago My grandpa challenged all of us grandkids to read through the whole new testament and he said he would give us five dollars for every book We read and wrote a summary on. That really got me motivated to start reading my Bible. Ever since then I’ve been reading my Bible mostly every day and now I’m starting to read through the whole old testament.
I tend to be an over thinker and I can get so overwhelmed with making my quiet time so complicated that I stop doing it all together. And I know that that’s not what God wants for me. So, I try keep it simple and have little expectations of my quiet time other than reading and praying and that is it.
Consistency. Every quiet time bring us a step closer to God 🙏🙏. Ask God for understanding the Bible. Humble ourselves before God. Let God do the teaching.
God really showed this to me at the right time. I've been scared to start a quiet time of any sort because I'm not good at sticking to them. Hoping to use some ideas from this 💛
1.What is your goal for quiet time Examples Reading the book of the bible in depth. Half a chapter a day Reading through the old testament in 1 year. Or topical bible study or reading through the entire bible in 1 year Can Pivot later. 2.Pick a time you're going to do it Consistency is the key. Maybe 8 am, or before lunch.. or 1 for 1 hour, or at night before bed.. Depends on individual , pick a time and be consistent 3.Begin with prayer Cast all anxiety, share to god anything we're wanna share . Don't forget to ask the holy spirit to guide in bible reading, study 4.Read your Bible -this where yours goal come in
I’m the “read the Bible in a year” type of person… but I was not always like this. It took me a few years to actually get through the whole Bible, but now I’m on my second year of doing it. I really like the BibleProject and their studies that they have for the Bible in a year… the videos they create really bring life to what you are reading
Finding quiet time with myself and God can be difficult. I’m 55 years old and live in a house where it can be noisy and hectic. God is such a major thing in my life and I feel the Holy Spirit in me sooooooooo much that it’s easy for me to get into that holy zone within me even though my life is hectic and busy. I like your idea about having goals this year that can help us get closer to God in a quiet area. God is so loving and accepting and he will help us find time to worship him. Good bless. Michael
I so needed this! I’m having a baby sometime in the next month so my quiet time is going to change. I think God has been preparing me for this because before I was pregnant, God was telling me to shorten my time so when I have kids, I can still get time in and it still be just as impactful. But I wasn’t sure how to go about it because I love spending a lot of time with Him. I learned a lot from this video. Thanks Coffee Girls!!’
For all the moms out there I have a 2 year old and a 7yr old I wasn’t able to be consistent with a time but I choose a spot and that has helped me, because when I have time I just go to my spot that is ready with all my materials 💖 thank you Tyler for this beautiful video ❤
After watching your episode of your Bible Teacher saying about quiet time and if you only feel like reading 3 verses a day or a whole chapter it really released me from guilt and I have been doing my quiet time daily and have read many chapters of the Bible guilt free if some days I only feel like reading 3 verses and have drawn closer to God 🙏🏻
some supplementary reading that has changed my life: intercessory prayer- Dutch Sheets when pigs move in- Don Dickerman prayer and spiritual warfare- charles Spurgeon heavenly man- with brother yun
thanks lovely! this is super encouraging. I am abit of a free spirit myself and struggle to start when my goals are too big and daunting! im currently doing genesis with a few simple bible study tools my husband taught me. 1) light bulb - what stands out to me 2) question mark - what confuses me about the text (ask my hubby and it creates a great discussion later on! 3) what applies to my life! .... if im honest i normally only manage the lightbulb one and dont always have questions but by just slowing down and doing a chapter a day ( ish or whenever I manage to) it's been joyous and I've been encouraged by what the Holy Spirit has personally revealed to me! feeling special that God can reveal things to us each individually! - this video totally made me feel like YES im on the right track! after months and months of procrastinating and not starting anything due to aiming for goals that suit other peoples styles and not my own! Why do we over complicate it!?
I'm also a go with the flow, spur of the moment person. Routines are a challenge for me as well. Simplifying quiet time is essential for me. Thanks for you ideas!❤
I literally thought in my quiet time today that i just don't know how to keep a Bible journal and writing all that seemed complicated i was like idk how to figure out my quiet time. And you posted it 🤧
also... about to have a baby girl ( due date in 10 days) and so in a weird non routine waiting period as im on maternity leave and anxiously prayerfully awaiting this new season! any advice from new mums on how to keep seeking Jesus or ways of reading the word during night feeds etc. etc. would be mega helpful!
Favorite video from y’all!! This is exactly what I’ve been doing for my quiet time for the past year and it’s been so beneficial for me to be able to strip it down and connect with God. And this was an encouragement to me that our quiet time can be as simple as this. Thank you!!!
God bless you for doing this channel. Your a very thoughtful Christian. I’ll try some of these techniques. No offense but, I wish there were more young women out there like you. With such a good connection with the Lord. And a solid foundation of Christian wisdom… maybe I’ll luck out one day! Anyway God bless you keep up the good work. This video took me out of a little funk I was in. Just need to stay on track daily. Like many of us I fall pray to UA-cam and Netflix far to often. As Christians we need to study the word daily. Great video stay awesome!! -Justin
This was so helpful! Im a new mum of two under ONE!! im also a faith based content creator! safe to say my plate is FULL so my time with the Lord looks so so sooooo different now but there is a grace over me right now whilst I figure out a perfect routine for me and my context!
I read a chapter a night, It’s not much but I find that works for me and it’s something that is easy to continue. If I miss reading my chapter (normally when I have a migraine, when I’m feeling really sick or if my daughter is visiting; so it doesn’t happen often) I feel really guilty. I will always read two chapters the following evening, the one I missed and my current one. I then feel everything is right in my world. I don’t always understand what it’s saying but one day I will because I will keep reading a chapter every night and learning as much as I possibly can😀
The peace I have right now is wonderful. I have been struggling with consistency and over complicating quiet time. I really like the simplicity in this and I am going to try it xx
These are really great ideas Taylor! My quiet time varies but it's usually in the afternoon. I enjoy early afternoon...it's my favorite time of day and I don't get up early anymore. I like to Bible journal so my quiet time is always my time to Bible journal too even though it may not be every day. Sometimes, since I'm retired, it lasts a long time and sometimes not so long. I really like that I don't have to stick to a certain time and a length of time or what I choose to do. I got some new double colored pencils for Christmas so I can't wait to use them. Quiet time is part of caring for others too when we pray. Personal peace is important to me and quiet time gives me that. Thank you for saying that it can be different for us on certain days. Happy New Year to you and to your family!
I am 100% new to Quite Time and I would like to know where do Devotionals fit into a Quite time routine ( such as Jesus Calling , etc, ) ? Also, do you have any videos on your channel regrading how to pray? I am soo self conscious about praying to God because I don't know how to. I was raised Catholic and frankly was never taught to actually pray and talk to God. Thank you soo much.
Hello! In my quite time, I have learned the best time for me to do devotionals is after reading the Bible. There are so many Christian devotionals one can read, if you need any ideas for devotionals one of the ways I find them is just looking up on the internet Christian devotionals for women and I find so many good ones! One I am doing right now that I love is called "Embraced - 100 Devotions to know God is Holding You Close" by Lysa Terkeurst. In the Bible, Jesus' disciples asked Him how they should pray too, and Jesus taught them to how to pray. Jesus gave them the Model Prayer, it is a good way to start praying if you're not familiar with prayer yet. It is in Matthew 6:9-13. You can repeat the words of this prayer, or you can change the wording and make it more personalized. Prayer is us talking to God, it doesn't have to be an intimidating experience, God doesn't judge us for not knowing what to pray. God loves you so much, He will not condemn you for you trying to pray to Him even if you're not sure how to, God is so excited when you talk with Him! When you pray just be real with God, talk with Him like He is your closest friend, because when we think about it, God truly is our closest friend. Another way you could pray is just asking God to help you through the day, to protect you, to help you in your relationship with Him, to help you know God more, and to ask God to help those around you. Its that simple! I hope this helps you and makes things a little more clear for you. If you want to ask any questions about what I wrote, go right ahead! 😊🙏
I’d also add that doing it in the same place every day until you form the habit, is very helpful.. and a biggie: don’t do your Bible study/quiet time or reading the Bible while in your bed! 🤍✌🏻
This video is much needed for me... Perfectly timed.. Totally an answered prayer.. I'm going to start on a morning routine (I am not a morning person ) and having a 15-minute quiet time before I leave for work. I, too, am not a routine girl and therefore at almost age 35, I COMPLETELY suck at anything routine-wise... Please pray for me so that God would help me be disciplined and teach me how to be a good steward of the time the LORD has given me. Thank you for all these tips and guidelines dear sister p.s. I've decided to read and pray through the Psalms (using the book of Psalms to guide my prayers, exaltations, lament, etc) for the first 3 months of this year. I'm going to choose a small, attainable goal so that I can start making morning quiet time part of my morning routine. My daily bible reading and meditation is usually done when I get home from work so that's my evening routine.
I neeeeed to watch this but I came on here to leave a comment... How did you guys get started vlogging? How did mentor mama get her name? Could you possibly do a video for us? Just some "pre-napping" questions. Ha. Sending it before I forget, you know how it goes.
Thank you so much for this video! In my case when I read my Bible I try to do in in depth, but I never finish a chapter a day, and most of the times when that happens, I feel guilty, and I feel like I’m not doing enough because I’m only reading half of a chapter, but I really try to understand what I’m reading, and I’m looking for explanation for what I’m reading and that just takes time, and I just don’t feel like im reading enough, and I feel guilty over and over again! Is there something I can do for that to not feel that way? Is it normal to feel that way?
Yes, it’s absolutely normal. But as Christians, we need to understand that showing up and doing the little we can manage at the time is enough. God just needs us to SHOW UP. 2 Chronicles 15:7 // But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded
