- How to Stop Windshield Chips from spreading for a few bucks. Chips in auto glass can lead to large and long cracks if not stopped or treated. I have done this with a few of my cars and I will say this did stop the chips from spreading. One of my cars has a rock chip that has been there for over 3 years and so far has not spread yet. Also make sure your glass is clean before doing this procedure.
NOTE : This video was made to show you how to stop chips from Spreading Only and Not For Repairing. Most of your auto parts stores will carry the full auto glass chip repair kit. They are priced around 10 - 20 dollars give or take for the full kits. The kits do work and will do a complete repair. Thank you for watching and please like and share If you can. Peace to all of you
Just to let you guys know the crack hasn't spread it's been almost a year and a half. Happy holidays everyone.
:-)
Really appreciate the update!!
That means it was never gonna spread. Your fix was totally ineffective. Wrong glue, wrong technique and no preparation
@@Itu2646 Thanks for watching anyway. It did slow down the crack on my window.
I've done this before in one of my older vehicles windshields. It did indeed work. The crack did not spiderweb.
Thanks for view and comment Steel.
As a widowed female with no male figure around I want to thank you and compliment you on a great step by step/informative video.
Thank you again.
Glad it was helpful!
Great tip! I've had a few cracked windshields over the years!
thanks
Very informative. Watched your video and tried this with a small chip and the chip hasn’t spread. Took my car today to Safelite as I already scheduled an appointment and they told me it was only a surface chip and took 5 mins to see if there was any further damage. They didn’t feel the need to fix it as the glue I used was good enough.
Glad it helped you and Thanks for watching Catrena.
any updates on how it's holding?
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Good job!
Thank you David.
🌷Thumbs up as always! 🍎 Thanks for all your support, it is appreciated 💜🍓
Thank you. and you are welcome.
Seems like a good alternative to fill in chips. Though I don't think a chip with a bigger crack will be prevented from spreading. Usually bigger cracks need to be drilled out and filled at the end so that it doesn't spread.
The chip on my car in the video didn't spread yet and its a 1/4 inch crack on each side and hasn't spread for over two years now. Maybe I'm lucky then lol. Then again you may be correct, but mines in center view and so far so good without spreading for me anyway. Thanks for watching and comment also.
Thanks for the info I have a small rock chip on my windshield too gonna try it out and see
Thanks , let me know if it works and good luck.
Thanks for the instructions on an easy temporary (or permanent - depending on your standards) fix. As for all the idiots that felt the need to make some smart-ass remark about what this man has shown you:
1. Stop and think for a second that YOU chose to watch the video. If you have CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, then please feel free to share your thoughts.
2. Even if your comment was something clever or funny, your lack of punctuation and your Kindergarten level grammar skills just take away from what might have been some awesome trolling.
3. Thank you, and good night.

Thanks and Great comment Tonia. I get used to all the bad remarks when they show up. Thanks again and wishing you a good weekend also.
They used to have a product that you injected with a needle. It worked .. Thank you for this way, also. Weekend greetings !
Laura G Photos and Film
Thank you Laura this is just a quick way to slow it down. All I'm doing is keeping the moisture and air out of it that's all. Yes I agree the injection repair kits work a hundred times better. I'm just showing the hillbilly Way of being cheap for $2. Yep you still have the chip but at least it's sealed it won't spread. The repair kits at the auto parts stores now they actually seal it and repair it. Thanks again my friend.
Thank you... although I didn’t use idea on my car... I did use it on my stain glass project. Yea team,
Thanks Marsha.
We’ve got similar cars with the same color and both have look for motorcycles stickers and our crack is in the same spot, thank you!!
Very cool, and you are welcome.
Now that is a great tip , brilliant idea and it works to amazing , good buy window chips 😉
Thanks and Happy Saturday to you.
Great advice my dear friend!!
Thanks again Viviana.

Thanks Hojofan
Good informative video 👍
Thank You
good simple vid - repair kit some sorta resin.so spose supa glue'd work..trivia stop 'crack getting longer- most know drill 'hole' at end,but have to tap it make small starburst then resin to stop it..also 'clear' nail polish/varnish works on 'chip > for the gals that piece :)
Thanks and i agree lots of resins work.
Trying today. Have 2 small ones. Thank goodness they aren't in my view and off to the passenger side.. Will update when done.
Thanks
Update?

Awesome i just want it to hold til safelite gets here its the weekend thnx
That'll work thank you and you have a great weekend.
I just left the windshield place and I told them about using Super Glue on the windshield on a small crack and they said oh yeah go ahead and do it and we'll have to replace your entire windshield
They want your money, besides some window shops use resin in terms it is thick glue anyway. Thanks for watching and happy 4th of July.
I only do it to small rock chips, not big cracks.
@@bluesharp59 AMEN!!! I got a chip on my Lexus with only 49,000 miles. My insurance company sent a "company" out (aka..a man in a truck). I am 100% sure he used this on my windshield but didn't even do a good job and I noticed today it is spreading which is what brought me to your video! Thank you!🥰
@@jillbunny90
Thanks Jill, I hope it works for you.

THIS IS AN AMAZING TUTORIAL

It didn’t do anything to fill in the actual chip and crack, that’s why those kits have a syringe 💉 that creates pressure so the resin can actually fill in the damage. That’s kind of the whole point to make the damage less noticeable, and so that it won’t spread, this at best prevents it from spreading, but the damage looks the same. You’re better off using one of those kits from permatex or rain x.
I agree and i didn't think i would get as many reply's as of so far. Yes the kit is way better.
Thanks for watching anyway.
need some super glue to seal up your filthy words coming out your lips.@jonny_laguna
Too Funny ! Have a good weekend also.
I notice you have tiny dots all over your windshield, I have the same thing, they are tiny chips and I am unsure how to get rid of them
Thanks for watching and as far as the dots I would let them go unless they have small cracks then you cane fill them with glue also. You could call a glass company to see if they make a polish but good luck on that one. Windshields get hit with sand and its hard to stop or keep up with the pits they leave.
bluesharp59 okay, thank you
@@majordankmemes6675
Welcome and Subbed you also.
bluesharp59 thank you 🙏🏻, subbed ya back
@@majordankmemes6675
Thank you.
I will try this and let you know
Thanks and hope all works out bud.
@@bluesharp59 What's up Bluesharp59, I did exactly as you said brother. It was a cold Chicago night, about 15 degrees when I added the glue. I let it penetrate over night, drove 33 miles to work and during my lunch I scraped off the excess glue.
I noticed it did end up penetrating the cracks, it left a nice layer inside the crack and the windshield (but not inside the actual vehicle side of the windshield.
Sof far it's working. I'll update this if for whatever reason it doesn't work.
THANKS FOR THE LAST MINUTE ADVICE
@@efrainquevedo6148
I hope it works out and thanks bud. I did mine again a year and a half ago and its still good.
Good stuff
Thank you George.
Like, great video edition
Big thanks
Thanks

NICE!Thumbs up for sure!

So ANY transparent super glue will do???
Yes correct any super glue works. I just dab it real good on there let it dry and then scrape off the excess with a blade. That same crack in my video it's still the same on my car now and it's been there long time hasn't changed. So I stopped it from spreading. Thanks for watching good luck to you.
thank you, i got LOCTICE brand glass glue, the small chip cracked, so I am going to see if this will help it from spreading... if not, well i needed a new windshield anyways... ha ha
Thanks and wishing you a great Sunday. i hope it works for you too. Peace !
How long will this repair last? Is it permanent?
My chip has several 3 inch cracks coming from it. Do I need to drill the end of each crack and fill the hole with superglue or will the crack stop spreading?
I had to same chip over 3 years now and has not spread. If you rub your hand over it and it fells smooth after you do the trick then its good. I re check mine every 3 months and if it don't feel smooth then i redo it again.
I hear that does work by drilling. But a 3 inch crack well its kind of getting in your vision or a cops attention.

Thanks
*Spitzenklasse 😊🌹 Hochwertiges Video 💔😊💔👍 !!!!!!*
Thank You
any updates on how it's holding up?
Thanks and it held up untill last year. I did get a new window after a belly dump truck hit me with a one inch stone then. Have a good weekend and thanks again.
I was hopeful at the beginning of the video, but it didn't look like it did much. I'm not convinced.
Thanks for comment and view.
Hi.
Im a subscriber.
How has it held up 4 years later ?
Thank you.
It did hold up that long for me. Then I actually got a new window eventually. I got a few more chips from a semi. Thanks for watching and I subbed you back.
