Honestly, when buying Ray-Bans for $250+, part of the appeal is that they’re made in Italy. Making them in china is just bad for the brand. Makes them seem much less valuable.
You know they're identical right. A machine cuts out a plastic or metal frame, another machine inserts the lenses, and then someone polishes them. That's the manufacturing process😂
@@maipantoon7823that's the problem though. Nothing about raybans makes them special except for the brand and prestige of being made in italy. If they're made in China, then the glasses lose a part of a brand, the only thing that makes them valuable.
Why would Ray Ban ever think that if we are paying premium for sunglasses that we would want to see “Made in China” on them? I know they want to save money on manufacturing but - do you really want them basically saying ‘her your expensive glasses that we are charging you aren’t really premium”.
The more we are aware of where things are made the better. Soon these manufactures will realize that we the consumers aren’t stupid. Exactly, if we are to pay for premium products why would we buy something that says Made in China. Those words alone are synonymous with cheaply made products. Imagine buying your wife, mom, or your fiancé a Channel purse Made in China. 😂
Luxottica doesn't give a damn. The owner admitted on interview that he is just milking idiots who want fashion brands and don't care about quality. Do not buy anything owned by luxottica unless it's from italy and maybe brazil.
Well, they aren't really premium anyway. Even when manufactured in Italy they will still make stupid amounts of profit from selling them. It's just that Luxottica can comfortably rest on it's almost-monopoly and crank up the prices to insane heights. And people will continue buying them, because they are stupid enough to think that expensive automatically means better.

No Ray Bans are made in Italy. They are all made in China. Luxottica has them shipped from China to their warehouses in Italy. I made Ray Bans for 14 years. I'm want to get myself some customized Ray-Ban rounds next month for my birthday. Is there any way of knowing if they'll be Italian or Chinese before ordering them?
The folding wayfarers I bought directly from the Ray Ban website now use metal screws in the folding points. And it didn’t come with the square upc label or a sticker, but I’m thinking it’s because I had them custom engrave my info on the left end where the numbers usually are.
I only get my Ray Bans in person because of this. Actually, it’s because I can only afford them because my insurance will cover the frames and when I’m done with them as glasses I put sunglasses lenses in them. That being said, all of mine are Italian, but I look for that. My dad’s two pairs are Chinese. That being said, they’re just as nice. But if I’m paying (or my insurance is paying) that much for frames, I want something a little special. That’s why I’m fixing my tortoise shell Clubmasters as we type.
It is the same. Just in the head it is better if it is not made in China. At some point made in Japan or Korea was perceived as a bad quality and cheap but it is not any more. Machines are all the same and if company produces bad quality under warranty they would just lose money. There are differences from model to model and brands and it is reflected in price. That is why they sell different brands for different people.
Mate the problem is they use inferior materials and slave labour to produce products. Sure they have expensive equipment and machinery to create products but they're not exactly using the purest of metals, plastics and glasses. Yeah China is like what Japan and Korea were. But China has had from early 2000s to get good but can't. Japan and Korea stopped using slave labour and poor quality materials a long time a go and now their products are the best. China they're still a third world nation that is polluted and doesn't care about quality materials.

This is a lie. The one they say made in Italy are mostly made in China. All of their components come from China they just assemble them in Italy. So in the end of the day it still China.
You have no idea what you are talking about. I had a financial interest in a factory in the Guangdong province, in China. We made Ray Bans there from 1999 to 2013. When Luxottica bought Ray ban from Bausch & Lomb in 1999 they immediately started making them in China. Luxottica Tri Star IN CHINA was founded in 1997 TWO YEARS BEFORE LUXOTTICA PURCHASED RAY BAN FROM BAUSCH & LOMB. So your UA-cam video is totally false. Ray Bans have NEVER been made in Italy. I used to visit their corporate office in Milan, Italy at least a half dozen times a year as one of their vendors. The unit cost per thousand for the Aviator RB3025 L0205 in 2013 was about $14.00 USD depending on the exchange rate. Recently they started making some models in India.
Just ordered a pair of clubmasters polarized on sale for 110 euros now I'm concerned they'll be made in china. If they are might send them back but don't know any alternatives for about the same price.

People's assuming anything made in china has to be trash is just silly. Your beloved iphones, as well as other high tech items (computers, tvs, etc), are all made in China.
Most iPhones screens are actually produced in Japan actually same with good quality tvs the cheep garbage ones are made in china. iPhones are also fully developed and designed in California. And Japan also makes the robots used in china assemble the iPhone. And guess what if the iPhone was made in Italy the would probably be much better haha
@Yippee Skippy "Phones are not sunglasses"? Brilliant. "Still, not all made in China sunglasses are trash"?? That's exactly my point. So what are you rambling on about when you just agreed with me??
It's a bit risky to judge the entirety of Chinese-made Ray-Bans based on one pair. If you had more pairs to base your judgement on, you should tell if it's always the same qualities that are different, like flimsy hinges or bendy temples. Also, since you're on the topic, it's a pity you didn't mention AO's stint in China went you presented their history last year.
Bro I own hundreds of ray bans And have personally handled thousands I’m not judging them off the one pair. Also AO “ stint is China is 100% fake news”
Sadly not everything made in Italy is great. I've had two pairs of Persols. "Excellent opticaal lenses by the way". The first 9649s developed a fracture on the nose bridge with that really stupid insissions slits they have on some models.just don't buy them. Second pair I still own 2747s have noisy hinge barrels. They also sit a touch low. If you lower your head just a bit, there is no sun protection on the upper half. Not a great design so don't buy them either. Only fashion glasses and no good at the beach. But I got them at discount so it's ok. As far as Ray Bans, I have 2 pairs of chromance made in Italy. They are light in weight, comfortable, reasonably well built and I really enjoy the rich and warm colors through the lenses. As long as you take really good care of the polycarbon lenses and treat them with love. No problems there.
To all viewers do yourself a favor, don’t buy RayBan and Oakley, after a company like Luxotica buys out a brand they will definitely try and cheap out on manufacturing. Stay away from those brands and buy Maui Jim
If the inside temple says made in Italy does that mean they ARE MADE IN ITALY OR.... can they still have been made in China? I just bought my mother the polarized ray ban caribbean and for 250 dollars ill return them if there made in China. EVERYTHING COST SO MUCH NOW ADAYS AND MADE CHEAP..... DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The quality between Italian made Ray bans and Chinese Ray Ban are not the same. Anybody who tells you that is straight up lying to your face. Because I bought a pair of “ORB4147” in this specific serial number and glasses are only made in Italy. That’s the origin of the manufacturing of this specific serial number. The pair of glasses that I have are all beat up, but they are made in Italy. I ordered the same pair from the website and they sent me a cheap Chinese knock off. So I know for a fact, the guy in this video is lying out his ass. So some of the markings that Ray-Ban put on their sunglasses so you can determine if they’re authentic or cheap Chinese versions that I ordered did not have those markings so in my opinion they are fake sunglasses because if they were, they would have those markings that the Italian made Ray Ban have and they don’t
You are totally wrong on this, however the Chinese made ray bans are pretty poor and I have made several review on Chinese made pairs where I have said this
@@ShadeReview They are not even the same model so it's not a fair comparison. Hypothetically, If China also makes the classic Aviator, and I put two pairs in front of you, one from Italy and one from China. Without knowing which is which in advance, would be able to pick out the Italian pair every time? If not, it could very much be your own bias at play. Many people think of made-in-China products as low quality. It's a stigma. And it could very much be what's influencing your judgment.
Then he was just unlucky or you picked a model which is easier to get in good quality hehe. I a few weeks ago just got a pair MCM sunglasses from Nordstrom Rack which were made in china, well when I checked the MCM website saw a few models made in china and a few made in Italy. My pair is pretty good Too, I think sunglasses shouldn’t be bought online. Nothing better than trying them in store and feeling them. I so hear you on this one man. I'd be keeping those classics for days when you both know you're gonna look dope rocking those shades and you can be sure they're not gonna slide off your face.
Hey man. Great video! What about the ones Made in Brazil? I do live in the city where Luxxotica produces Ray-Bans and I'd love to see what you think of them.
You know I have never seen a pair of Ray Bans that were made in Brazil before so I couldn’t say
Nice review
So how do I make sure I get the made in Italy ones ?
that's the most important thing and he didn't talk about it at all in the video...
@@MM-eb4uq did anyone figure out how to get italy ones for sure
I'm want to get myself some customized Ray-Ban rounds next month for my birthday. Is there any way of knowing if they'll be Italian or Chinese before ordering them?
Can you do a list where we can clearly see which one model are made of crystal/glass or polyner lenses.. thx
Ray ban or retrosuperfuture Which one of these are you going to choose?
Nice beard 👌
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing
Any company that offshores to China will not have control over potental quality control issues.
Just wanted to add, Why didn’t you flex the Italian made ones? You know, do a Far Comparison.
Wayfarer and aviator are made in Italy or China?
I just ordered a new pair of clubmasters from Sunglass Hut in Toronto. They did not have the ones I wanted in the store. I will check them in the store and not except them if they are NOT made in Italy . To be fare they told me they will be 100% made in 🇮🇹 .
This is a lie. The one they say made in Italy are mostly made in China. All of their components come from China they just assemble them in Italy. So in the end of the day it still China.
What was the website of rayban.... I would like to make an order
Thankfully my Rayban is made in Italy :)
Guess what, the Made in Italy sunglasses are made by Chinese - in Italy
On our website ShadeReviewStore.com we only sell authentic made in Italy Ray Bans
@@ShadeReview the one I ordered is a certified ray ban store and I lucked out and got ones made in Italy!
Literally no-one is surprised
@ShadeReview @2:11 minutes of this video you mentioned about Japanese made Ray Ban. I was thinking if you have came across Ray ban RB2175 Wayfarer Hand made in Japan? Are they authentic?
The only frames made in Japan are the Titanium ones
yes I think Italy better because italy is more durable
what is the meaning of K CE and B CE on the right temple of Ray ban Wayfarer. I recently bought one pair of wayfarer with one polarized and non polarized from the ray ban website. on the polarized one K CE is written and on the non polarized one B CE is written. please tell me if I got the duplicate pieces or not?
Hi, I just bought 2nd frame rb3447 from same shop and was surprised that 1st one has label made in Italy and now I received made in China, feel a bit strange but they look and feel identical. From authorized reseller in the UK. Is it worth to return it ?
Great video! Have been really enjoying your content! Do you know if the Ray-Ban Justin's are made in Italy or China?
Thanks for watching the channel! The Justin’s are made in Italy
@@ShadeReview nope, just received my order, and it is made in China. I have the same pair and the made-in-Italy ones are of better quality. I'm returning it.
no way, the justins were made in china? how do you even know which ones are made in italy anymore
What about the lenses. The chinese lenses loose quality? I mean, i have bought a chinese rayban because my other was stolen. I have paid 200 reais cheaper than the italians same model. Do they loose quality on theis lenses?
Conclusion please can I buy or not even if it’s china anhone pls
Don't buy, if you want asian ones get Japanese they aare even better than Italian
New wayfarer asian fit made in which country?

Bro im about to make a number of Rayban sunglasses purchase in the Rayban website. Is there a way I can guarantee that what I'm ordering/getting is made in Italy? I tried emailing Rayban but no reply yet.
My new Ray Ban Justin were made in China... Doesn't come close to my Maui Jims lol.
Sir plz help❗❗❗ I am looking forward to buy my first ray ban sunglasses i have 3 options in my country made in Italy made in China and made in india which one should I go for ☹

Hey bro can you send a link or tell me what type of sunglasses are the made in china's. The sunglasses looks nice! Hope they have a Italian made.
Rb3595 Andrea, unfortunately only made in China ones are available, you can check general series instead

My ray band don’t say we’re they were made
What a relief for you 😂
@@samir.padilla why what does this mean?
@@beefgoulash8726 Cause you don't know where they're made. So you don't stress out about it.
Hi Shade! I have a pair of sunglasses without "made in". i only see a T CE. Do you know where my sunglasses were manufactured? They are a Clubmaster.
The CE mark means that they comply with European safety and environmental regulations. And I’m not sure what the T means
Same here men! Did you find out what this means? Really want to know
Same with my clubmaster. What does "T" means?
@@rogen4373 yours and mine are made in China Luxxotica
@@BalkanManiac thanks
that's pretty shady of rayban
Hahaha
Rayban has cheap plastic lenses like those 5 dollar glasses at a truck stop.
Could it be made in China if the sunglasses say made in Italy
No that would be Illegal
@@ShadeReviewI heard that they are just assembly in Italy the majority of the part are made in China
It would also prob cost about $3,000 of a iPhone if that was the case tho lol
@Yippee Skippy "Phones are not sunglasses"? Brilliant. "Still, not all made in China sunglasses are trash"?? That's exactly my point. So what are you rambling on about when you just agreed with me??
Mine are made in USA
It's a bit risky to judge the entirety of Chinese-made Ray-Bans based on one pair. If you had more pairs to base your judgement on, you should tell if it's always the same qualities that are different, like flimsy hinges or bendy temples.
Also, since you're on the topic, it's a pity you didn't mention AO's stint in China went you presented their history last year.
Bro I own hundreds of ray bans
And have personally handled thousands I’m not judging them off the one pair. Also AO “ stint is China is 100% fake news”
Definitely u know nothing about how luxottica produces its eyewear.
I hope i knew that many years ago
Friend of mine lives in China. Fyi. Even the chinese ones stamp Made in Italy. Its batching, good luck
Besides Kung Pao chicken and General Tso’s chicken, I won’t trust anything made from there.
Lol what about there balloons 🎈?
@@ShadeReview good one lol.
I appreciate you sharing your passion about quality optics.
Ten dollars cheaper made for a tenth of the cost Ray Ban should pull out of china even of the quality was totally on par
So...mine had the Chinese sticker, but the sunglasses themselves say made in Italy--both on the bridge and the arm. ???
To all viewers do yourself a favor, don’t buy RayBan and Oakley, after a company like Luxotica buys out a brand they will definitely try and cheap out on manufacturing. Stay away from those brands and buy Maui Jim
Joe Biden Disliked this video
If the inside temple says made in Italy does that mean they ARE MADE IN ITALY OR.... can they still have been made in China? I just bought my mother the polarized ray ban caribbean and for 250 dollars ill return them if there made in China. EVERYTHING COST SO MUCH NOW ADAYS AND MADE CHEAP..... DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So if you like the glasses but someone tells you they are made in china you all of a sudden want to return them? Lol sheep
You are totally wrong on this, however the Chinese made ray bans are pretty poor and I have made several review on Chinese made pairs where I have said this
This guy makes shit up as he talks
I just bought a pair of raybans on their website and the pair is made in China. So does that mean they are fake
Watch the video and you will find out lol
Anyway Rayban is a shit sunglasses brand, Italian brands arent that premium like before, thats why i stick with german and Japanese brands
Same old stereotype that anything made in China is automatically low quality.
Nope. But it’s true with Ray Ban Chinese made ones are much worse quality ask anyone in the optical/ eyewear industry and they will agree
I don’t see a difference in quality.
Many big groups of sunglasses companies are manufacturing their sunglasses in china and no one has complained. I think luxottica has to pay more attention to the quality. They can keep doing them in china just check the quality closer.
This video is a load of rubbish. You have not shown any proof to suggest the Chinese-made Ray-Bans are worst than the Italians. I purchased about 6 months ago Ray-Ban Thalia RB2195 which were Made in China and I've been using them for the last 6 months and I see obsoletely no difference to the Italian-Made ones I used in the past.
I have several reviews made on Chinese made ray ban sunglasses that prove this, excluding the video that we are releasing today! @4:30
Also I have dozens of contacts who work in the industry from Sunglasses Hut Managers to higher up executives and they all agree and it’s kinda an inside joke that all the Chinese stuff is crap lol
Buy NOTHING Chinese!
People just find some good fakes on Chinese Internet they really are great quality from case to lense and cost 30 dollars with shipping
NEVER NEVER NEVER buy new Ray Bans
How is made in Italy even comparable to made in USA? Fuck everything coming from china.
Shop real Ray Ban, Bausch and Lomb, US made Ray Bans on eBay. Better in every way imaginable. Glass lenses is only one far superior aspect of real Ray Bans. US made is another.
i just ordered a chris rayban..on website it shows made in italy..but i got made in china from sunglass hut.what should i do now?
Return it and buy from our website ShadeReviewStore.com where if we say it’s made in Italy it really is
@@ShadeReview you have some RB3701 on your website, are they made in China as they have a T on the wand which someone has stated is for Taiwan! Can you confirm if this is true as I have just ordered some of these myself.
Unfotunately even oakleys say made in china :( im just glad some are still usa made which are the only ones i buy or in ray bans case i only buy the wayfarer which are handmade in italy.
Oakley is owned by Luxottica anyways so that's why they come from China.
