Absolute nightmare with Ford part numbers. Finally got all the pieces, now the install on a 32ft fifth wheel trailer.
I am doing this install this weekend, thank you for your help
Your welcome thanks for watching.
Nice. I've got the same kit, minus the components for trailer, and a new F350.
We're putting a camper on the back and looking forward to regaining the part of the 360 view that we lost when I removed the tailgate.
I'm looking at setting the camera at tailgate height, and using the Voyager Bluetooth camera that was built into the camper. This video has been very helpful.
Thanks
That was some great editing. A big challenge to do such a informative video.
Thank you for the compliment
Thanks for the install video. I also purchased the Customer Placed Trailer Camera package but have yet to install it. This video will be very helpful reference. If you ever do install the TPMS sensor and the TMPM sensors in the tires, please post up the part numbers.
If I do the TPMS I will let you know.
Thanks for the video. Helped me install my stuff. I noticed that you installed the yaw sensor and used the sticker. You only need to do one for the pro back up assist. It’s either the yaw or the sticker. Sticker takes all those measurements and the yaw is quick calibration. Just FYI
You are correct. I realized that after the video. Thanks for the correction. Glad the video helped.
@TheCOM I have a big question... I installed the accessory camera... I have the fifth wheel prep package and had the yaw sensor... how do they work together?? Or seems I can only use one or the other. The camera has its connection and the TPMS.. There is no way to also connect pro trailer backup sensor. An I missing something??
Very helpful video, thank you!
Can you please post the parts list for the setup?
Here is the part number:

@@TheCOM thank you!
Thank you the video! I have a couple questions. Why did you need to use the sticker if you installed the yaw sensor for the trailer back up assist? Do you know if this would work on a new f150? Appreciate the time.
I agree. In the SuperDuty, I believe the Sticker is for bumper/hitch trailers, and the yaw sensor is for 5th wheel/Gooseneck trailers.
Sorry for the late reply. After further investigation the Yaw sensor is for the goose neck and 5th wheel and you only need the sticker. But I am not clear on the dash if the trailer tilt works without the Yaw sensor or not.
I FINALLY have my truck so I'm back to your video. It's been a year now, how has the camera system held up? Did you add the TPMS system (wow that add-on is pricey!)?
The camera is still working and performing as it was new. I am still happy with the camera and do use it all the time. It has saved me many times from Getty out of my truck to check behind the trailer in tight situations.
I have not added the TPMS. I do check my tire pressures monthly and do walk around the trailer before every trip.
I've had this Ford backup camera system for about 4 years now and have loved it. I only have one issue. My trailer is a gooseneck and routing the camera wire to the back bumper is problematic. With my gooseneck I can turn the trailer to a full 90 degrees from the truck and even more. I have found it to be more maneuverable than a bumper-pull. But imagine my surprise the day I discovered I had pulled on the cable and ripped the wires out of the connecter. What a mess. I spent hundreds buying a new wire harness and having someone splice in the new connector. Do you have any suggestions for moving the camera plug into the bed of the pickup? Something that doesn't require a bunch of wire re-splicing? Great video Captin. Thx.
My truck came with a wire hook up in the bed and on the bumper. The bumper I had to replace like on the video but the in bed one is ready to go for a 5th wheel. It is located drivers side just behind the tailgate. Mine is a 2022 lariat
@@TheCOM Well dang. Guess it's time to trade my 2018 in. Thx.
I believe the yaw sensor is only for 5th wheel/goose neck trailers. For a bumper pull like yours you only need the sticker. I want to know how you got the yaw sensor with your truck and package though as I ordered my '22 F350 with all those options and all I got was the stickers and after a lot of back and forth with the dealer they said the yaw sensor was an extra purchase! Jury is still out whether I will order it and install it. I am more interested in getting the trailer backup camera and TPMS systems setup on my camper.
I believe you are correct after some more research. The Yaw sensor seams to be for goosenecks and 5th wheels. My truck came with the Yaw sensor in the back seat with my camera package. I am not sure why you didn't get it. Some of the dealers can be dirty. Thanks for the comment.
The accessories must be reserved for the gooseneck bag, and Ford has given me this accessory
Can you view the trailer camera while you are driving? I thought I saw a video where they were able to minimize the camera view in the corner of your screen while driving. Is this possible?
Yes. I can turn the video on while I am driving. I just hit the camera button on the dash then the three line hamburger menu then select the Aux camera.
I just bought a 2022 xlt which has the knob for the pro trailer back up assist. Does this kit come standard? Wondering if I need to contact the dealership
I had to pay extra for my camera kit. The pro backup assist I think is an option you can pay for when building the truck. Sounds like you have that option on your truck if you have the knob.
Hello I got the camera prep package and I received some wiring. They told me that the cameras did not come with the package. And had to buy them separately. Did you have to buy the cameras separately?
Yes I had to purchase it separately. I bought it the same time as the Truck but it was extra cost.
I have a 2021 F350 I have the camera set up already from the factory I just want to install the TPMS do I just install them in the tire or is there extra wiring harness that I have to use I got a couple boxes of stuff from when I bought the truck they almost look like duplicates
You have to install the TPMS sensors in the tires and run the harness like I did (see minute 9:21 where I left the connector if I ever purchase the TPMS modual) . There should be a connector or box that the connector connects into that will read the TPMS sensors and relay it down the wire to the truck.
@@TheCOM okay I have that figured out is there a way to cap or cover up the two ends that I don't need I think there for a camera and something else
On the yaw sensor where did you purchase that kit?
I purchased it when I ordered my Ford so it came with the yaw sensor. Not sure if this link includes the yaw sensor. From Ford here is the link accessories.ford.com/products/super-duty-2017-2021-trailer-mounted-camera-w-pro-trailer-backup-assist
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful, however I've watched at least 10 videos on this same install and nobody shows where the cable from the camera goes in relation to the yaw sensor. Can you help me out here?
Within the first minute you will see the cable that I had to use that came with the camera. there are 3 plugs on there. The flatter one is for the Yaw sensor. you can also see it at minute 5:53 for a brief second before I plug it in.
@@TheCOM Hi. I figured it out after all. I should have just strung out the wires from the get go because it was obvious once I really looked. Now, wish me luck figuring out how to run the wire to the truck in my new 40' 5th wheel!! It's sealed up tight!!
@@TheCOM at 5:55 my other end of that wire is the 7pin with the red band... I width I could see where you plugged that in because I am not getting it... idk
@@stepfour look at the beginning of the video the first 27 seconds. You will see the large cord with 4 connectors.
1. Goes into the truck big with a red gasket
2. The connector for the yaw sensor
3. Connector for the TPMS sensor
4. Connector for the camera
They go in that order
@TheCOM just yesterday I spoke to the dealer... they said it's either one or the other. They cannot both (yaw sensor and camera) plug in at the same time. The camera and the TPMS, yes... but not with the yaw. They both have the large plug with the red band... and only one can plug in.
Do you knowif its the same setup wigh Sync3
I don't know if it is the same. Sorry.
At the end I expected to see view from new camera as you reversed, not the hitch.
You can see the camera at 10:26 mark. I wasn't backing up at that moment but the view and quality is the same when backing.
How do you move those rubber seals that are on the cables? I have one that looks like it should be up against the camera but it is not at the end of the cable. Damn it's tight.
Mine was near the camera. I don't think you can remove them unless you cut them off.
what the hell is a yaw sensor
It is like a gyroscope it monitors the tilt of the trailer. I don't believe it is 100% necessary
