Cannibal Corpse predates Slipknot by at least a decade. Alex Webster is not only a bad ass bassist, but a top notch musician with a music theory background . You wouldn't want to throw hands at George Fisher. One...he's a big dude and has hands. Two...look at his massive neck...you couldn't move his head with a ball bat. He'll give you all the smoke you want...then go donate toys to a children's hospital

"In my defense though", ;) the song I told you of is waaaay more "digestible". I was ranting about more groovy ones. I mean this one has it too, and it's a classic pure old school one but it's a bit harder to get into, especially for those that never heard death metal before (CC songs are pretty much the equivalent of horror/slasher movies), the hooks being a bit different hear because the song's focus is more on brutality and some technicalities (for '92 this was on another level). They don't take themselves too seriously, but the music is just "insane" in the best possible way. You might get these statements later if you will continue to listen to this genre). I didn't think you were going to pick this band so soon, man. So I think I should try and redeem myself a bit towards you, so... let's see... If you'll ever decide to do something from what I recommend (that I'm guessing you will enjoy much more), a rap/metal or crossover (or rap and roll, how I like to call it) band might help... maybe try Stuck Mojo - Metal Meltdown? Or if you wanna go full metal something that I can't get enough lately (it's melodic thrash metal) either Drones or Seven Archons by Eruption? @Bryan Widmer Yeah bro, Everbitter is my... moniker, if you will. It's not a serious thing just me having fun with softwares (since 2004). It helped me develop some writing skills and understand better the process of composing and mixing. Haven't written a full song since 2010 I guess, but I started doing all these covers to understand better how these softwares work and to try to get an as real as possible sound, which I don't think will ever happen, but it's about "the journey" not the result ;) and it's fun for me.

I think you'd probably dig one of their songs with some more groove to it. They're all going to be this heavy, but theres some songs that you can make some more sense of groove wise. Try out the song Decency Defied from their 2004 album The Wretched Spawn. They have a music video for it, so then you can listen to a studio recording instead of a live song.
