    Don’t think I can afford to join to the club, but you know some thing I think just watching your videos will make me very very happy. When you’re older and have very little money, UA-cam is a great way to make you feel so happy watching all of these wonderful, gardening channels, and so many beautiful gardens. Thanks so much for a great inspiring videos giving so much great information. The only trouble is I have a very small city lot so I don’t think I could have too many flowers in it but you’re making me want to try to squeeze a few more in.

    This is SO good thank you. I'm in NZ and just beginning to sow my hardy annuals for the first time in autumn. This is the best and clearest information I've found.

    This is wonderful advice at just the right time. I would have sown far too many seeds, and sown them too early if I hadn't watched this video now. I am a novice when it comes to seed sowing, so this advice has really helped. 30 seeds per tray gives me a much better idea of what I should be doing. I love your spacious propagation area.

    Thank you for reducing my anxiety about fall sowing. It’s still brutally hot here in the American South, so time in the garden can be dangerous. Fortunately we don’t expect frost until November.

    Fascinating insight into your forward planning programme, Georgie. I'm planning a small cutting garden just for myself, but your enthusiasm is going to make it so-o-o-o-o hard for me to resist autumn planting,😂

    Thankyou for this Georgie. I don't have much success in overwintering seedlings here in southern Scotland. I've tried numerous times but always find it better waiting until Spring, even with Sweet Peas. Last year it was so cold everything was totally frozen in my unheated greenhouse. We had minus 15 deg for a few nights. However, I love all the information you provide us with x

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  8 місяців тому

      Totally agree - not always a good idea to try and overwinter seedlings - sometimes better to wait till spring x

    Such a helpful video thank you so much! My first watch of your videos but I will subscribe and donate. I’m in Guernsey and will be tentatively flower farming next season and had just ordered the Higgledy Autumn Hardy Annuals! I’m sowing this week and it’s still around 18 degrees here at the moment so should I keep them outside till the temps drop? I’m not sure on this point and if moving them from outside to in or vice versa at this time when the temps can suddenly shift will have an adverse effect? Thank s again 💚

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  7 місяців тому +1

      yes keep outside till possible frost at night and even then you might just fling a bit of fleece over them until really proper winter sets in x

    We are US upper midwest zone 4. Oregano shouldn’t survive our -20 winters but it does in my garden. Could be that free draining sandy soil keeps it going. We are 102 today. 😬 and we are not used to this. Even the bees are in hiding today. Great video as always!

    Love your videos and advice, my umbellifers struggle, I’m no dig etc, could my soil/mulch be too rich?

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  8 місяців тому

      I don't think umbellifers mind rich soil - are you tray sowing and pricking out? they sometimes hate being moved. equally maybe too much or too little water? it's been an odd season with hot dry early and cold wet through July and august. better luck next year maybe x

    Thanks for this really helpful. I am toying with hedging my bets and trying to overwinter some seeds outside. I am in Suffolk and have free draining soil. I have heard somewhere else that I should sow these undercover now and plant out towards the end of September. I was thinking of Ammi Visnaga, Calendula, Orlaya - do you think will be ok x

    I can vouch for the Borage! I put it on my long raised this year with tomato and Cucamelon plants and I am convinced that's why we've had a bumper crop of both.
    I'll have to take it out now, though as it's toxic to dogs and puppy comes home on Monday. Next year the borage will go in Dad's veg cage. 😊
    I love how you refer to your plants as 'people'. 😂
