Good morning everyone. I am going to try to offer some assistance with this YN685 flash and the YN622N-TX trigger system. Like all of you, I was extremely frustrated at the lack of response to any of the questions asked by the viewers of this video. I just received this equipment this week and I will share what I have discovered so far after hours of playing around with it. Please keep in mind that I am using the flash in an off-camera application. First and most importantly, you must indicate the same group letter and channel number on both the transmitter and the flash. Keep in mind this flash has the receiver already built into it, so no further equipment is necessary to pair the units. Now please stay with me because this is where things get interesting. My flash does not perform AT ALL like this gentleman is showing in the video as far as setting the mode is concerned. It occurs to me that this video is nearly 1 1/2 years old now, and maybe some firmware updates have occurred whereby the flash LCD screen displays differently now. What you have to do is power on the flash. You then press the mode button until the mode indicator in the center of the LCD screen begins to blink. You must then roll your selector dial immediately to the right of the red power light to select the mode of the flash (I use my thumb to do this). The mode you need to select is the 622 R. SLAVE. This is exactly how the mode will read on your flash. As far as your zoom setting is concerned, press the zoom button on the leftmost side of the flash and toggle it until the indicator shows "A" in front of the millimeter setting to designate automatic zoom setting. The settings of your flash are now controlled by the YN622N-TX! I think that our confusion has arisen because we were all looking for the mode on our flash LCD screen to match exactly what the gentleman's flash mode was showing in the video. You are now ready to go! You can set your power output and zoom settings on the YN622N-TX transmitter, and when you take your photos, you will see your settings displayed on the LCD of the flash. They will all match those you have set on the YN622N-TX! There are so many more features on this flash I have yet to learn, but I am hoping that my response helps all of you to at least get started in synchronizing your flash to the transmitter and doing some happy off-camera shooting. I was very frustrated and was ready to return this flash, but now that I have figured it out, it does really performed quite well and I am very pleased with my purchase. CHEERS!!
What about if you have no issues triggering your flashes off camera with the YN 622 - TX not in the hotshoe of your camera, but when you put it on the camera, and take a picture, the flash don't flash?
im using this same set up with the t6i and works great. i also have this set up with the YN 568exII and a 622c remote. all works well. i think you have to hold or press the first left button to get to another settings menu that enables you to turn on the 622 trigger system, so that when you press mode, youll see it work like he demonstrated.

Lovely informative video. I have a Canon 500d & Youngnou 568exii ETTL speed lite. I want to use the speed lite off camera. Do I need 2 of yn622c or one yn622c & a yn622 tx also ?
Trying to use YN622C TX and YN685 with my FUJI X-t3. YN622 in Legacy mode. without Camera everything is working fine. With camera Speedlight YN685 has 2 red leds always on, and freezing issue... Repeated many times, trued to clear both trasmitter and flash... nothing changed. After this problem, i waste about 1 hour and still not finded link to firmware update...
Is there a way to add flashes beyond the three channels. If you have the three groups linked and controlled by the remote master can you still have a way to add two additional flashes with setting controlled in-flash and have them set to fire optically. I could work with having the two background flashes not being remotely controlled.

I want to use the YN685 speed light as my on camera flash and my Nikon SB 700 as my off camera flash using the Y622N and YN622-TN. Please what are the necessary steps to set this up.
The ATG/Yongnuo have hurt Canon and Nikon flashes. Mostly on Nikon SB-910, since it can not do wireless radio TTL. While the Canon 600EX RT doesn't support many camera bodies.

Hi, I've been struggled changing the zoom's flash, I can change the power with YN622 TX but no de Zoom. YN622N TX M Group A channel 6 YN685 Mode M RSlave Zoom M Group A channel 6 I have Maggrip mounted, I don't know If the grip is causing interference. Any clue?
Make sure your zoom head is tilted straight ahead only, not. The extra 5degrees down and also make sure your white bounce card and or flash built in diffuser is pushed all the way into the flash head. I had a problem for the longest time to took me a while to figure it out.

Hello , i have Nikon d750 and bought 2 YN685 external flashes. I got YN622 Transmitter to use them both at the same time while on stands. I got the opportunity to do some nightclub photography and was wondering how can i use them both at the same time. Obviously at the club i wont be able to use stands and stuff like that, and i can hold one in my hand with the transmitter on the top of the camera, but i want to use both at the same time. My questions is, any way i can put one of the flashes on my camera and that flash to trigger the other flash which would be in my hand. I know some flashes can be triggered by another flash but was wondering if this is possible with my YN685.

Thiago da Cunha the one directly above the mode button. It's the zm/c.fn button. Hold that down and you can navigate to enable the 622 remote. After than, when you hold down the mode button, it will show up along with the other remote mode

QUESTION - will the 622 tx controller trigger my secondary flash if I have the RF603 attached to that secondary flash? i believe so, i was messing with it and i somehow took a picture when i used the 622c-tx or 622c. i had the YN 568 exII with the 622c remote. that was paired to the 622c-tx, and the yn 685 was paired also to the 622c -tx.

I am unable to change the zoom on the yn685N flash using the yongnuo 622. I am also unsure if this is enabled for high speed sync.

My led backlight doesn't turn on and its set to on in the cfn menu. is there an external button that im not noticing? or how do you turn it on?

I have trouble when using these two together for high speed sync. There s a lighter (brighter) strip at the very top of each photo i take.

tx communicate with yn622. Who communicate with RF603 is YN685 internal radio.

For these units to work with a Canon (different flash system ) you'll need the Yongnuo with a "C" suffix.
