- NOTE (March 2019): In the meantime UNO has released a dedicated eprom for the rc-505 control called fcb505. This gives a lot more options (12 switches in stompbox mode and 2 expression pedals can be used), only one bank is available though and everything is fixed on the fcb. Configuration has to be done on the RC. Check it out: www.fcb1010.eu...

Especially for guitar, bass and other players who need their hands to play an instrument. This 3 part video explains how to configure the Boss uRC-505 so it can be controlled via a FCB1010 Midi controller.
Each of the 5 channels will get a Rec-Overdub - play button and an undo but other configurations are possible.
The FCB1010 is equiped with a UNO chip because StompBox mode is required. You can get more info on this on www.fcb1010.eu

Just an FYI for anyone purchasing a new FCB-505 firmware chip. The new chip turns your FCB1010 into a dedicated controller for the RC-505, your CC messages are fixed at this point and not programmable. That being said,,, these videos were quite informative and worth watching in understanding and making decisions on how you would make choices on what buttons to assign cc messages to . Thanks for posting this video its quite useful.
@@dorkasaurusness Hi J. P. CC are control change messages , when you are using midi this is what is transmitted between devices to communicate and make changes. First off I have seen guitar players use the RC-505 just with there toes (guy out of florida DOVYDAS on you tube) where its warm ;-), if thats practical for you.
From the chip manual...
The sent ControlChange numbers are CC20 - CC29 for switch 1-10, CC30 for the UP switch, CC31 for the DOWN switch.
- The expression pedals send a continuous stream of ControlChange messages on movement,
with CC14 for the left pedal and CC15 for the right pedal
what this means is the new chip, if you decide to install, will have these fixed values in the FCB1010 , all you will need to do at this point is only program the RC-505 to respond to these as you desire. You would skip part 2 of this video. video part 1 you would use the values from the manual cc20 for button 1, cc21 for button 2, etc, etc.
So what this does is essentially marry your fcb1010 to your rc505 , the fcb1010 would only send these messages and most likely wouldnt work properly with anything else , (not sure). You can always pull the chip and use the old one again and regain the versatility and program-ability of the FCB1010
Great video, thanks for making the effort of posting! I saw your updated link and just bought the 505 firmware chip. can't wait.
You absolute legend. I bought this pedal thinking it would be possible to operate my rc505, and this video will help me!

Thanks for your time, I've been thinking about this equipment combo for days, with RC303 alternative... great tutorial.
HI Greetriman, I've just got the new RC 505 MKII and I'm wondering if is possible to use the same configuration
ive been wondering the same thing, if you find it out could you please let me know how its done?
@@chrisjohnson1381 Did you find any solution ? I'm facing the same problem. Thank you !
A lot of this has been changed now with the new FCB505. The Midi has to be set to 13. The buttons have to be CC#20 upwards not CC#21 upwards. And you don't have to do anything to the 1010 at all apart from make sure that the pedals are calibrated to start at 00 - 127. There is a Manual at the bottom of the FCB UNO site.
indeed, there is a video on the Fcb 505 on my channel.
How do you get this chip
@@alexandramoran6652 It may be hard to get now. But there is a footswitch Boss 600 now, so probably better to get that instead.
Hi, there. Is it possible to control boss rc600 with the FCB1010? Thanks!
can i use my FCB1010 with my RC-505 without the UNO or 505 chip upgrade? right now i just want to try it without the upgraded chip
Nope, doesn’t work
Greetriman can i do ANYTHING with the FCB1010 and RC-505 together right out of the box?
Hello 🙂.
Is it possible to connect keyboard on RC 505 ( midi connections ) for play and record in a daw. ( Fl studio ) without a additional sound card ?
Thanks. Keep it UP👍
Boom got emm this one did it
Thank you! This is great!
Hi could you help me please. Every buttons are working fine. Except the #9. it is program on the rc505 on undo redo 4. The light can be turned on and off but the buttons never react to the pedals input. Im sure the rc505 is fine. Do you have any tips on where to start or whats step to do to resetup only that button from the fcb1010 menu please :) Thank. Happy new year
is there a way to connect a boss rc 500 to the fcb 1010??
Unfortunately with the new looper version (RC-505mkII) I don't seem to get the same result as with the old model... Too bad... Did anyone succeed?
Did you find any solution ? I'm facing the same problem. Thank you !
Can the fcb1010 pedal be linked to MK2?
Hi, i bought the chipset, it work very good, but i wanted to have access to the bank of the FCB1010, to have the possibility to assign other stuff with a second bank, is it possible to configure this?
Same question/comment I just got an RC505 MKII and wondering how to get it working with the FCB1010 and UNO505 chip upgrade
Did you find any solution ? I'm facing the same problem. Thank you !
Hey Greetriman,
So all that is needed is to install 505 into fcb1010 and then program the boss 505 loop station?
Thanks!,
JP
Indeed, install the Fcb-505 eprom in the fcb1010, Connect it to the rc505 with a midi cable and program the rc505. Done
This helps a lot. Thanks!
Is there a way to write information saved in one channel to the other 99 channels without manually assigning them all?
I have been trying to do this but I don't think there is an option to do this. For now I have used 'User Set' in the RC-505. What you do is
1. Take a blank set in RC-505
2. Assign the midi channels in the RC the way you like them to be controlled by the Behringer.
3. On RC press 'write ~> write user set'
4. This is now your user set and you can load this in any EMPTY slot of the 100 slots in the RC-505 by doing 'write ~> load userset'
I don't think you can load the user set to slots that have already tracks recorded on them. If you find a way. Please let me know!
Good luck mate
Is this working with the 505 mk2?
Please can you tele.. once the pedals are assigned, do the buttons on the rc505 still work? I would like to be able to initiate play/record at floor level, but for the remainder of the song (performance)be able to use the rc505 by hand.
Yes all RC-505 buttons remain active
@@greetriman215 thanks a million
This is very helpfull!! I am a guitarplayer and just bought the rc 505 knowing that the rc 300 would be a better choice, still I decided to go for the rc 505. I have a question: how is it working out when you play, record and overdub? Does it work fine with the FCB?
Yes it works. It’s like any other midi controller. What I miss in the 505 is the auto record function which is available on the 300. This is really needed for drums.
@@greetriman215 I heard people turn the metronome function on and use headphones to hear the first bar count until it begins recording.
Did you manage to assign undo/redo commands on a single switch?
Hi thanks for this great video, i want to order the FCB 505 Ship but i'm not sur to understand everything... "only one bank is available though and everything is fixed on the fcb" means that i can't use other preset to control guitar Rig (For example) ? . Thanks again :) !
You are correct. With the rc505 it becomes a dedicated, 1 bank only rc505 controller. But the best you can get IMO.
@@greetriman215 Thanks again for your answer, i finally get the FCB 505 chips, but i'm a very bad midi programmer, do you thing you will made a programmation tutorial about that :) ?
Rony Rone Yes I will. :-) Just subscribe to my channel and you’ll get notified.
Aloha - I posted on your 3rd video in a thread that I started last week. I was asking you about using the expression pedals. Like can we use the expression pedal to control the large turning knob on the rc505 to control not only volume but also the effects. This would be useful. Thanks.
Hey Gary, should be possible although I never programmed the expression pedals.
@@greetriman215 thanks. I'll let you know if I can
I’ll come with a more easy and flexibel solution where you can use all 12 buttons (stomp box mode!!!) and the 2 controllers of the FCB1010 with the RC-505. Subscribe to my channel and you’ll get notified the moment the video is available.
@@greetriman215 i'm sold. sub'd
Hi very nice video!
SinceI'm a proud owner of an 505 and fcb1010, Do you know where i can buy the 505 chip I cant find it in you link in the descpription.

@@greetriman215 thanksss
Could it be done with any midi pedal? Like the cheaper model Rolls mp80?
Not with that one. You have to be able to program the midi cc messages, both for press and release of the button.
do you reckon I can get the same results with Nektar Pacer MIDI Foot Controller ?
No idea, never tested it
hello Greetriman . Do you know where I can by a UnO v1.0.4 on line ? thank you
You can find it here: www.fcb1010.eu/
give to use the fcb1010 Control on gt1?
Than you were much! You ar the best! Can i program pedal 1 to input fx level and pedal 2 to output fx level? And how?
Have a look at ua-cam.com/video/HcIvW_J1LXQ/v-deo.html
Thanks for the indepth gothrough! I am wondering if you could set a target ONLY TO RECORD / OVERDUB / NOT OVERDUB - reason for this is, I dont like having to hold STOP for 2 seconds to erase a loop. My line6 helix has a dedicated REC button which overwrites existing loops when you press it while not playing back. I find that vey convenient.
Hi do you have to have the additional chip for all of this to work? Thanks
Yes, best to Go for the fcb505 from uno. Fcb1010.eu
@@greetriman215 Thats such a shame, the pedal isn't cheap and having to spend another £30 sucks.... :L
Is It possibile To make start And stop a prerecorded loop only by clicking one footswitch? ??
No, that are 2 different midi commands
Greetriman do There is
other a way To do that?
there is a function in RC-505 possible to assign called TR1 PLAY/STOP (for all tracks from 1-5 but not for TARGET TRACK unfortunately)
Can this be done with a stock FCB1010?
No, you’ll need a UNO eprom
@@greetriman215 That's for the reply. I was able to get it set up without the chip upgrade. You need to double tap the pedals, once to engage.. once to actually hit the button (which is pretty okay for undo). Maybe I'm still doing something wrong.. but all in all I am very happy. Much better than the FS6 joke. I still might get the UNO chip anyway though. Your video was very helpful on the RC505 side though, thanks!
@@greetriman215 Please Please Please help me man... I am really stuck over here. So, I gave in and got the Uno chip and setup the pedal as you detailed in these videos. Works perfectly (thank you again!), but now for the tricky part...
I am trying to make Pedal 6 on Bank 01 an "Erase All" button. I had no problem setting the proper CC in the 505 and I have programmed Pedal 6 on Bank 01 to "Erase All' ....... Problem is, I STILL HAVE TO press the button twice to get it to work. I thought with the Uno chip upgrade (and I think the CC toggle feature) I would be able to make other CC message one click. Like I thought you did with your "Undo" programming on Pedals 6 - 10 Bank 00.
Is it not possible to make other pedals in other banks work only with one press? If so, can you PLEASE point me in the right direction to do so.. I feel like I have tried everything. (I even download the Uno Control Center to no avail.)
