Just get a 5.3 from the junkyard for 500 bucks. Go through it check all the main and crank bearings, if your good, gap the rings, slap it back together maybe with a cam. Slap a turbo to it. Don't spend 9k on a blueprint or crate one.
You can pick up all Aluminum ls motors any day of the week. Super easy to tune, dead nuts reliable, and lighter than almost every other thing he spoke about. LS engine swap kits are available for just about every vehicle out there. I'm no V8 nutbag, I've done a lot of engine swap, I cringe every time I hear this kind of mis-information. Try getting a good tune for your built RB or 2jz. Been there, done that, wasted a tone of money.
People think that since these cars are so popular there’s a ton of aftermarket support for them but in reality there aren’t that many out there

Says the MR2 has an "itty bitty engine bay" yet the most common mod for them is to swap a 3.5L V6 into it 😂
It’s a shame you missed the 4.3 liter from GM, it’s a great tunable engine. Push rod V6 literally GM sawed 2 cylinders off of the 5.7 V8. It’s literally indestructible, referencing the Typhoon or the Cyclon builds by Chevrolet and GM in the early 90’s.
My 2 cents for what it’s worth.
Even better is the LV3, which is a 2014+ LS-based version of the same idea.

All swaps are good. They really just depend on what you are building the car for. Wether it'd be for fun or all the way to tight racing regulations. All swaps are good in their own way so it really boils down to taste and needs.

The 2.3T Saab B235R engine is also a pretty good tuner engine. They’re cheap, reliable and relatively easy to mod for so much power ik talking 600+ chp
For rear wheel drive I choose an rb25 neo in a laurel cuz a anything Toyota in my country is pretty expensive...... But for a front wheel set up I will go a j32 in a Honda accord

I think the Honda J-Series should've made the V6 list. Some of the most reliable and potent little engines out there for pretty cheap.

@@natthaphonnoble7946 If you're referring to the new J30 turbo in the TLX & MDX Type S, yeah, you could fit it. With time, resources, and money, you can do any build you want. But, that motor is not a crate engine right now, so kinda have to buy one of the cars to get it. With the market, that's like $70k+, then to swap it in and make everything fit and work blah blah blah, at least, at least another $20k. So for that, I'd just buy the TLX type s if you want that motor and power. Or boost your current motor, the J35 does great with superchargers and even fully built NA. It all comes down to time, resources, and money.
I got a j37 MDX engine for free.. but it’s got a dead cylinder 1 lol
I got a 98 accord v6, took out the stock j30 and swapped in the 01-02 mdx j35a3 with a 6spd lsd CL-S trans… with the basic intake, headers, and 3in exhaust piping to dual exhaust, I’ve manage 13.3 at 108mph. On stock CL-S ecu and crappy China made tires. I’ve gotten tired of that so I built my own turbo kit, built the engine, slapped on a haltech 2500 elite ecu, and now it’s pushing 535whp at 12psi… neck breaker.. Jseries power!! I still have my oem high compression longblock sitting in the garage.. the 13sec one..
First all motor built I’ve spent $2k.. junkyard parts and hand down parts and upgrade parts.
Second built cost me roughly cost to $10k.. ecu, turbo, dif engine, engine parts..
Labor cost sweat, blood, and girlfriends bank account..
You can get a 500+hp LS based engine for well below 9 grand that's what made them so popular. Buying a junkyard ls truck engine for a few hundred bucks, swapping the cam and adding a blower with a tune and you will be putting down over 500HP for well under that $9k price. If youre looking for the LS1/2/3/6/7 variants then yeah 9 grand is what you'll be looking at (maybe not the LS1/2/6 variants anymore, their prices have dropped considerably since the LS3 became so common) but most LS swaps are pulling the engines out of Silverados, Tahoes, Suburbans, and Yukons

You guys actually made a mistake about the german 2j 😭the german 2j isn´t the s54 in the m3, it´s the **N**54 in the bmw e90 335i or the 135i, the s54 doesn´t have that much tuning potential and actually is naturally aspirated which makes the comparison to the 2jz gte completely dumb
Did you know that 70% of Americans can't drive manual transmission😂. So i can flex that i can.
Best part of the ecoboost is they are tuned for the 'most horsepower out of the least fuel burnt' these motors can be re-tuned for 70hp gains from just a full stock motor.
I've recently been really interested in the Volkswagen flat plane crank W8 that they put in the late 2000's Passat. I think one of those would be beautiful in an MR2 or an old Escort ZX2 or something

Lets not forget one of the biggest staple cars to be released in past few decades that had a v6, the r35. It's been the product of some of the fastest 1/4 mile, roll racing, and 60-130 times in existence for any street car. At the end of the day engineering can make or break. Overall I would agree that the In line 6 is the best quick pick option though.

Have only owned a straight 6 tt bimmer, a v6 Infiniti and a 4 banger turbo Audi. Really would love to get into a German or US v8 just to see what it feels like.
i heard an engine builder say a ls was the easiest car to get to 1000hp. Tho here in Australia i got told the ford barra that came in the falcons was the cheapest 1000hp car. tho the vl commodores had the rb30 but the only way your getting a half decent motor under 10k (aud) is buying a patrol lol.

See im just swapping a stock supercharged v6 from a gtp and then i have a generally well balanced engine for my tj. Decent (better than the stock I6) fuel economy. About 80 or 90 more hp and its built more for torque because its a supercharger which is what i want for offloading. I dont want to have to worry about turbo lag.
More air engine displaces, more power it makes. Simple. It’s easier to move air with more cylinders. But not necessary. Also you should know that LS1 lighter then 2jz.

I spent $10k on my 98 Honda accord.. and it spanks 2018 camaro ZL1, mustang 5.0 and cobra, and other cars that are 10-20x more expensive

The v6 disrespect is insane🤦🏽♂️ the base model v6 in the ones you say “could’ve had a v8” have a ton of potential. Ford specifically, the 3.8 v6 in the 94-04 mustangs are a tuned down version of the supercoupe 3.8 which beat out the 5.0 in performance. The 3.7 in 2011-2014 mustangs are a slightly bored 3.5 eco boost without turbos. The 3.5 is definitely quicker than a gen 1 coyote. The Buick 231 is arguably just as good as a Chevy 350. With the v8 engine bay and smaller engines it’s not as cramped either.

B and K series Mostly B16A and B16B are no longer cheap they are 4000 to 10000 dollars so not for the those who have no money. Between that 4 and the 1JZGTE and the 2JZGTE and the Nissan GTR V6 power plant and the new NSX power plant and the Porsches flat 6 its as good as it gets in reliability and performance. I do not include the BMWs because they just do not have the reliability from their natural factory form.
I had to turn this video off right before the four minute mark. Your producer/writer/director/whatever completely dropped the ball on this one. With such a complex and heated topic, you failed to realize that the target audience for this video is going to be people who know a ton about cars already. Yet you spend the first few minutes describing to us how engines work like we’re eight years old or something.
The way you guys were talking, I was expecting a PSA on why we shouldn’t take candy from strangers and get in their cars.
Like I said, I stopped the video shortly before the four minute mark, because without even watching this, I already know whichever powerplant you pick is going to be the wrong one.
The moral of the story is find a different person to be in charge of making your videos. Then they will be good.
Eh. Sure, you can tune a I4 for super high rev but the question you have to ask is this: you want to drive it or work on it.
So, me personally, I rather have a large, low revving engine that spends less time in a garage, more on the road.
Oh, and those Toyota Camry XSE stock can give any tuner a run for their money… and tuned with force inductions makes perfect sleepers.
9k on a blueprint LS as a comparison to a budget Honda build? You’re not bias 😂. You literally can get 500 hp from a junkyard LS and turbo kit with odds and ends for under a few thousand fairly easily and will have the torque of 4 Honda’s 😂.

Wrong - there is a lot of parts for V6's and really easy to get more power out of them. Plus they can rev pretty high, 7500-8000 rpms which is just 1k less than Honda s2000 4-banger
There is a thing that they didn't mention. Yes, cost is a problem but sometimes you don't actually find the parts. It's not a matter of inline 6 cost a lot to maintain. Sometimes you cannot. In your country you will not find parts. Actually a 2jz is more rare than a V10 Maserati. So for me there's no debate. Inline 4. That's the engine. Don't tell me. Vtech isn't cool.

Naturally Aspirated (N/A) Mustang V8 Performance Pack 2, in the 4 Cylinder the N/A Lotus Elise ....Not cheap to rebuild or replace minimum $16,000 to $20,000. none turbo very reliable would last 12 years running hard all the time. Add Turbos it'll last 3 to 5 years running then in normal commuter, and drive them hard. They only last 1 to 2 Years, and I've lived through both perspectives.. Tuner Turbo would last longer than the manufacturer Turbo set-up because Tuners mount them higher, away from the engine ( engine not heating Turbo, or Turbo heating engine ....Have you seen a red hot Turbo it ruins the engine) Turbos mounted away up high near heat extraction hood vents, is the only way to Turbo Tune any car. Don't recommend factory equipped Turbos. Even with a warranty or in my case extended Warranty you get a rental for 2 months because that's how long it takes for investigation and replacement of the engine. Turn the rental in and realize the Warranty only covers 1 month. Therefore, the Rental is $5,000, because I also chose $12 a day ( $360 for the month ) insurance so I won't have be reliable if anything happened. Hopefully, my experience is helpful to anyone 👦🏻👍🏻🏎🏁
