same problem when trying to manipulate the surface after lofting. the solution is go to curve tools tab and in that top tool bar there is a option for "show object control points" click that then selct the surface that you just lofted and it will give you the control points that he is manipulating in the video. hope this helps someone ive been searching for the answer for two hours
If you just want a flat base you can use the 'planarsrf' command (planar surface). other options are 'patch' or to revolve a profile and trim it to fit the base.
@@Felix1090_ so sorry the super late reply! you need to turn on 'History', use the History button at the bottom of the screen, or run the command 'history' and turn it to always on. Then run the loft and the curves will directly unpdate the surface like you see here.

Great video. I do have one question, what is the best way to add a bottom to the vessel?
