I love the ML. he is bad and he owns it. he is not bad - minion from hell, he needs to die so we can restore world peace bad, but he is no goody two shoes either. I love when his friend said , she''s 19, you're a beast and he simply answered I am. That "say it loud, say it proud" moment of his made me hook into this drama!! I am only 10 mins in but I am enjoying this so much.
ok so. I have never seen Zhang Yilun in this role ever - and I have seen a lot of his dramas!! I must say, I never thought I need to see him in a dark themed ML role but he plays it so well. This is a very well written character. He is running for sainthood, but then again he never professed that he wanted to, He is unapologetically bad and he owns it. I like that thought he categorically is thought of as a bad person, he at least shows that he has standards that he follows along which is also very simple - no one makes his little wifey unhappy. period. I like that when he rushes in to the rescue, he doesn't waste time talking the head off whomever was making the FL unhappy. He always is zoomed in on his wife as soon as he goes through the door. I live for this kind of ML. They way he rushes in make sure the FL is okay. And the ways he spoils her so she can spread her wings and fly. Though his every action is for and to support his girl, he never lost himself. He is still him.
I like the FL''s character. A lot may not see her as strong but understanding that she pretty much was brainwashed by her mom to be a certain way to be thought of as a proper lady, I like that she still has enough fight in her to go against the mold and not just nod and follow like a blind man. She took that first step to leave her home so she doesn''t suffocate to death and that takes courage - especially after all the "training"" she went through with her mom. I like how her hesitancy at the beginning was only because she was not sure if the person was the uncle her friend mentioned or not. She has never been afraid of the ML. I guess his roughness gave her enough security that she never thought of it as something negative like the people around them did.
Together their characters makes so much contrast its amazing how they both work. I want more of these type of characters - especially the ML... im done with the scumbags... This type of bad ML I can live with!!
