While I love Shen Hao Nan as an actor, I found this character extremely disturbing. He's supposed to be an undercover policeman and overall a good guy. That just happens to be a severe domestic abuser. Sorry, forcing her to cut herself, strangulation, beatings are just disgusting and forever unforgivable. The happy ending should be her leaving him and reporting his domestic violence and sending him to prison. If anyone ever did those things to my daughter, they'd live to regret it.
I think he didn't beat her...just scares her with bed slapping with a belt... 😅 Don't know I imagined 😢😂
Actually I see some of this kind of behaviour with my bf.. every time he gets angry he comes to hurt me but controls it and hurts himself 😢 now he is my hubby he calms down his anger issues normal now 😊he loves me pamper me always 😍 happily married 14 years...

Finally a story where the ML has character development and is able to redeem himself. He definitely starts off toxic and abusive, but the FL is not super innocent either since she sought him out. The plot is interesting and the ending is a happy one.
My main complaint is that his character forces the FL into physical harm over and over, cutting her, beating her and strangling her and threatening to kill her brother as a means of control. While she is portrayed as accepting all of this and is supposed to forgive him.
He, on the other hand, is supposed to become sympathetic all because he feels uncomfortable during ...THUNDERSTORMS. I mean, really?? That's his excuse for torture? And we're all just going to give him a pass?? Please find a better storyline.
@ I’m not saying she should’ve forgiven him or that the relationship isn’t toxic. Not all Cdramas have toxic abusive relationships like this one, but the ones that do have all the abuse, and then the FL ends up forgiving the ML without any change in his character because she gets Stockholm syndrome or something. It was refreshing to see at least an attempt at redemption. Also, most FL in these types of dramas have no control over their initial situation and end up in these toxic relationships without any way out. The FL in this drama is different because she didn’t sleep with him for money to save a relative like the usual narrative, but sought him out to use him for revenge. She knew it was going to be a dangerous situation and chose to stay to avenge her father’s death. She had an out at one point but for revenge she went to the Uncle knowing he was the culprit. I found that interesting and different from the usual storylines of this nature where the Fl has no free will. The ending is a “happy” one because she got to go abroad and work on her career, but again came back out of her own free will. I don’t romanticize these kinds of storylines, but I do enjoy them for entertainment value. It’s like watching the show YOU. You know he’s psycho, but you can’t stop watching. If you don’t like these kinds of storylines, then don’t watch them. The comments will usually tell you what kind of plot to expect.
This is their 2nd time working together with quite great chemistry and great acting skills... The drama is also great .A new story quite fresh but still quite predictable😂 like all dramas love each other but hurt them for revenge or in name of protection😂😂.. Makes me a little anxious but overall the drama is Great ❤❤❤

Hum, are we supposed to root for that man? He is hot but he also assaulted her, beat her, lied to her, and blackmailed her with her younger brother's life. I know he has deep issues and he truly loves her but there is a limit to the abuse. There is nothing glamourous about her being locked up in the house and forced to play lovers. Yes, she did approach him for a purpose, but at some point, she cut it off and he had to threaten for her to stay. Not my cup of tea.

I admit some scenes in this drama were so disturbing to watch but the character development was so good and that uncle of ml I knew from the first time I saw him he was up to no good, I felt like punching him every time he appeared on the screen lol. I'm not quite sure about the ending tho if she should've ended up with the ml or not. (I watched this drama just for Shen Haonan but the fl is also a very good actress)
