    It's SUCH a relief and encouragement to see famous people who not only seem like REAL people, they also seem like REAL Christians. I get pretty fed up w/ celebrities who claim to be Christians but you can't quite figure out WHY, or also the contingent of Christians who are just normal but seem AT LEAST as fake as the celebrity Christians. The phrase "down to earth" comes to mind...
    Real people are so refreshing - as is real faith!

    Rick, your confession of faith is just what I needed at this moment in my life.

    This is an amazing interview. I didn't know that Rick Derringer was a Christian until I saw this and other 'living legends' interviews. I remember being in Westport, Ct. in 1976: One day back then, I found myself next door to Dan Hartman (he lived in Westport then in a place called 'The Schoolhouse'). He lived next door to a kindergarten teacher named Jill who was a friend of my then girlfriend. I was there one day back in 1976, listening to David Bowie's "Station To Station" album. Right after listening to the song-'Word On A Wing'-Jill asked me if I wanted to go next door and meet Dan. I ignored that question, and said-"That's a gospel song; that's Bowie singing about praying to Jesus. Play that again." I never got around to meeting Dan, but the following year my brother's band opened for the Talking Heads at a rock club in Westport called The Player's Tavern. I was with the same girlfriend, and yes, they played their version of 'Take Me To The River'. Soon after we saw Rick Derringer and his band perform at another rock club in Connecticut. The following year (1978), she dumped me for Roger Daltrey. Btw, my name is Tommy. There's more to this story and it's all true. I'm also a born again Christian, and I want you doubters out there to know that that is a true story, too!

    Thank you Rick for standing and speaking out for Jesus. What's really so awesome is that I will meet you in heaven along with all the other saints and we will praise God together forever! Look at all the hate in these other postings. The world hates Jesus and His Word and the people who follow Him. They are lost souls and they know it, but they refuse to surrender their lives over to the Lord Jesus Christ. People reading this: just ask God to show Himself to you and He will. Love, Peace Daniel

    I got the chance to hear Derringer with Edgar Winter way back in '73 at the Ottawa Civic Centre. Great show! I'm glad that Rick rediscovered his faith. One point I want to make: since Rick states that he grew up a Roman Catholic why did he need to be baptized a second time? He was already baptized in the Catholic Church. In the Nicene Creed it reads: ...one baptism for the forgiveness of sins."

    His words are inspiring and yes he does come across as being real in his faith.Celebrity Christians....[ the problem is that ...anyone...can call themselves a Christian regardless of the truth. you'll know them by their fruits...for far too many the tree has dried up ...or was never even planted.

    "God" does not speak to anyone. The revelations one finds from religion are actually the opening up of one's mind and heart to a greater perspective. All of the answers to all of the questions are inside of everyone, they just need an outside commission to find them. If you want to call it "Christ", fine.

    Amen, I hope and pray Rick Derringer stays faithful to Jesus. I heard he May have led Ringo to the Lord, but Ringo needs to confess to men About Jesus or Jesus won't confess him to God the Father.

    Isn't it strange how so many famous/rich people (re) find religion, how convenient.
    I must also point out that I'm a huge fan of Rick's.

      I can fully understand why many professionals in the art or music industry, or in any walk of life, aren't christians. Let's face it, there's no real concrete evidence that god or jesus ever exists/existed. One does not have to have religion to be a good and spiritual person.

      +Beenthere Donethat If life were that simple . . . bless those that have and do. But also bless those who don't or do. There are many faiths, not one is THE right one for all folks. Just try and love your fellow humans, whether they have a religion or not.

      +chris guy opposing beliefs can't both be right. Either their both wrong or one is right. It's not what's "right for you". It's what God says is right. Period. No human has the option to pick and choose.

    What exactly is off the mark or insulting? Isn't confessing your sins to the priest still a part of catholicism or have they changed that?

  • @ChimuChipmunk
    @ChimuChipmunk 15 років тому

    He was probably stating his incredulity about confessing sins and being forgiven by a human versus the biblical mandate to confess sins to God and be forgiven by God.

    It's a shame that so many people see it all as a choice between Bronze Age tribal mythology or "believing" in something they always mischaracterize as "blind chance" or "an explosion."
    The people who wrote the Bible were animal sacrificers, polygamists, separatists who basically called the voices in their head "God" and then set out to establish: "Yaweh or the Highway" for the rest of Humanity. It's a fear-based blood cult wearing a happy face. Peace.
    Come into the light of reason and fact.

    @beeroosterm UMMM...He isn't speaking of physical reality when he discusses "substance." What you "see" is mostly up to you. God gave us free will so that we can choose or not to follow. If you are an atheist, you better hope you are right! You sound as if you are scared of the possibility that this lil' ole universe in which we live was created by a higher power. Why? Also, RD hasn't the right to share his opinions?
    C'mon. Not believing in God does not prove intelligence.

    Its easy to see why his first wife left him, she probably wanted a rock star, not a sniveling alter boy.
    Hope his lyrics now reflect the teachings of the Bible, how could he sing about anything else.

  • @generatrix999

    Finding a fictional character in a book and following their teachings isn't an interesting R&R story, one-two lines maybe, then get on with it.
    Yes I agree, what Derringer brings isn't anything new...and its very boring!
    If you follow the the mythical christ, at least look like a man created in gods image, not a woman, not some perverted image of what you think man should look like.
    Christ would not go to Super Cuts and shave.

  • @generatrix999
    @generatrix999 15 років тому +1

    Is that what's its all about, becoming popular? Christ, then GOD above him are the ultimate personalities, the ultimate egos. Both bigger, more popular than Elvis, the Beatles.
    What happened to god made man in his image, perfect? Derringer needs to stop fashioning his look after Satan, who thinks he can do it better than god.
    Rick here looks more like Pontius Pilot than jesus. Mike Portnoy (In these interviews) looks more like Jesus and the way god intended man to look... like a man.

      generatrix999 hello, i have to guard myself against stereotyping people, businesses, music from outward appearance. for me i check history & details of subject to get clearer picture. even still, without face time to give benefit of doubt until proven otherwise. and to look in mirror before holding others to standards i can't meet. take care
