The Manticore looks to process quicker and more clearly, it looked to I.d. well amongst the iron, in the recent video with the guys from Bedford detectors. I can’t wait to see the Manticore head to head with the CTX, on targets in the ground! Many thanks for taking the time to make your videos, very much appreciated. 👍
REMEMBER the CTX is also deciphering ferrous #s where the Manticore is not. The target size is smaller and more precise on the M because it is using LESS discrimination. The CTX kills the M on all targets, especially in identifying iron. The M is a simple machine compared to the CTX. The big iron on the M could be a silver bar or necklace pendant. The same tone on the CTX you would see the higher ferrous #. Again, these are 2 completely different machines, and the CTX BY FAR provide much more information to the user. The 2D on the M is IMO a novelty and that is all. Now, the Ferrous bar on the D2 and Legend is a better option as they both provide some proper and beneficial information. The 2D on the M is pointless unless it had the same dual discrimination system as the ETRAC or CTX - 44 years and going.
Nice test, but too much interference with the CTX in that room. mine will stay in the locker. Kind of like a 70's Cadillac. Just got my Manticore and will be hitting some of my old sites, the 2D screen seems to be much better.
Awesome !! I actually requested this in your live chat and you delivered. As an ex Nox owner/ future Manticore owner that’s still clinging to his CTX this is a comparison I definitely want to see. Gonna take them to a field? P.S. That DIV signup went exactly as you predicted
Hey i need help bro can you help me please I'm a beginner and I already understand a lot of settings regarding the CTX3030, but one thing bothers me is that when I increase the sensitivity to 20-22, my detector starts giving signals on stones, and on large stones, and when I set the sensitivity to +3 it stops, now I would I wish my sensitivity was 20-22 because of the depth because I'm only looking for gold that my great grandfather buried, now I don't know what to do, give me some advice by the way, I tried that yesterday (I mean increasing the sensitivity) and the ground was wet maybe because of that or because of the large number of minerals in the country, how can I solve it and how can I know if the area is heavily mineralized or not? please help me and tell me your opinion what should i do to not lose the depth because i need it a lot and by the way i use ferris coin mode is that the best? or should i change and turn off the ground balance maybe that will reduce false signals
Interesting video. Looks like the CTX isn't dead yet.... would love to see a depth test between the two machines, and someday maybe an Equinox 900 vs the CTX. Other than the screen, is there that much difference in target id and depth? Thanks for the great video.
Another awesome Video in comparing the two. I know at one time I wanted the CTX But I could not justify the cost. Now the Manticore is out and it seems to be the popular Detector the Price is still to High. Either way I am sure this is the next level detector on the Market. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Great stuff - thank you! I'm really liking what I see in the Manticore...I have an 800 and the Legend, but this looks to be another level of detecting.
Out here in the West we have a lot of can slaw mixed in with targets at old ghost towns. Trying to decide which detector to get. Currently I have the AT pro and it can’t tell a silver coin from a piece of tin. Which of these two would discriminate better in trashy areas?
I think you would do better with either one but maybe a 2nd opinion maybe in order here. John Page from Fort Bedford would be the best person to ask. I personally would lean towards the Manticore because I'm enjoying it but I also like the CTX. Check in w/John.
I have the 800 and can slaw is the same as nickels or pull tabs. You can dig it or not or if its nuts in aluminum i just cancel the 13 threw 15 and its nice and quite. Also a 24k nugget reads like 10 which is like garbage.
Apert from the GPS and bread crumbs and a few other bits on the CTX I would say the Manta is the new CTX just wishing hadn't bought the 800 6 months ago and put the mo y to the Manta ,good luck buddy and thanks for the video it's proven a lot 🤘
Not a really good comparison - but you see anyway that the 10 year old ctx can hold really up. This „new“ Technology in the manticore is 90% marketing… the only benefit in manticore is Speed and weight - no need to upgrade as a ctx/d2 user…
Haha is THAT what you took away from the video?? These are AIR TESTS and the Ctx struggle getting a solid id on some targets. Mix in colocated iron and mineralized soils, and its even worse. 12 year old detector not going to keep up with the Manticore. Sorry you still use detector price as the measuring stick b
Hope you have been well and hope your week has gone well not long now to Christmas keep up the hard work and will see you at the next 👍 👍 👍 marry Christmas to all the family 👪 ❤
What I find interesting is that the CTX looks like the target trace follows your hands swinging motion with the target where the Manticore has little to no trace on many of the targets. The Manticore just seems to have simplified the 2d screen, used the number system from the Equinox, and focused the detection pulses a bit more to the coil center than the CTX. I think the target trace and the simpler 2d will help users get familiar quicker than the CTX. I came from an Etrac to the CTX so it was easier for me. I did have an Equinox 800 but sold it as it was far to chattery for my ocd/adhd brain to handle. My buddy is 17th in line for his Manticore so we will get some field comparison! GL and HH!!
Do you know What the screen size of the manticore screen in millimeters in width and length as i want to order a custom made anti glare glass screen protector for it?
@MentalMetal I know ,as Andy had his 800 and I had my 3030 we could not get near each other ,closest we could get was like 12 foot away ,you did well to get them that close👍👍
Air tests are never any good. In the ground shows the true values. My friend got the Manticore, but already frustrated with the vdi being all over the place.
Toward the end of your video, that chunky piece of iron, painted a picture on the manticore that looked like the state of Florida! I’m in South Florida, that may be an omen…. I may have to get a manticore! You’re very educational videos may put me into the poorhouse Scott! 😅 👨🦯
Is it going to take a Christmas Miracle or me joining your patriot group to get you to put that coiltek coil on the Manticore? Side note....glad to see you dropped your curl bar backdrop in this video....that bar hasn't moved in 9 months!
As all minelab products it’s overpriced that’s all they could come up with after 10 years better target separation and lighter . And want £1700 for it lmao no thanks if I want a good all round machine I will buy a deus 2 . And yes I use a ctx 3030 and there still grossly overpriced
Oh man! That 3030 noise cancel was soooo Sloooooooooow!! 😅 What’s even more interesting is how the manticore ID’s two targets that are in very close proximity or stacked on top of each other that have different conductive properties (like a dime/nickel or a pulltab/quarter)…..depending on the hunting mode you’re using, the manticore will either give a higher vdi or lower vdi of the collocated targets….this is based on the pre-programmed group of frequencies utilized in each operational mode. I believe the Nox will operate like this also (park 1 or 2, for example) because those modes utilize different frequencies, giving more preference to either high conductors or low conductors.
The plus is when you get paint on the line and items also in top and bottom of screen. At least know there are commingled item...might want to check it out!!
CTX is $2500 with free 17" coil, Manticore is $1600 plus probably $400 when the large coil is eventually released. $500 difference for the flagship machine and don't have to wait for the large coil to be released. I ended up buying a CTX instead of the Manticore.
The so-called nail test was done without adjusting the iron settings for nails. That’s just stupid. Another test done by a real tester who adjusted for nails like real-guy testers would do, worked. But, adjusting for nails may cause some targets to be missed, as expected.

Thanks and thanks for the idea CTX and Manticore in a real hunt. Head to head.

interesting points thanks for sharing them.
Wonder what a rusty new Canadian coin rings up as ? Most detectors have trouble with them
Should have done that comparison outside.
CTX is capable of a much better pattern .
To much EMI.
Agree but it was dark and the weather sucked.
Awesome video! More please! I love my CTX, but also interested in this "new" technology of the Manticore!
Coming soon!
Thanks for the Video mate. Is the 3030 deeper than the Manticor?
Thanks Steven I haven't ran them side by side for depth yet. Waiting for the weather to break a bit and warm up.
Thanks mate 🤜💥🤛

Bomb cyclone coming I doubt I'll be out much for the next week.
Third “ Once in a generation” storm of my lifetime!

The ctx3030 did great... gotta remember the technology of the 3030 is over a decade old..
Yes it is
Do you have a steel penny.
I do not.

Thanks I'll do more with them once the weather gets a little better. Sort of stuck inside for the next few days.
You need to make a depth test between them both be the first one on UA-cam.
Good idea, thanks

i wish it had the disc map like the 3030

Right on!

Thanks man glad it helped.
Awesome video. Love those tones. Does anyone know how many frequencies the CTX has ?
Full Band Spectrum 2 (FBS-2) technology allows the detector to operate simultaneously on multiple frequencies - from 1.5 to 100kHz AT THE SAME TIME!
I would like to see the manticore, etrec,CTX 3030,explorer,an explorer 2.sense their all basicly the the Same technology.
Sorry I only have 2 of the machines you mention. But I would imagine that the technology is vastly different with maybe similar ideas and features.
Not a really good comparison - but you see anyway that the 10 year old ctx can hold really up. This „new“ Technology in the manticore is 90% marketing… the only benefit in manticore is Speed and weight - no need to upgrade as a ctx/d2 user…

I have friends who have the 3030 and have begged minelab for an update for years with nothing. $2500 for a detector you never get a update. That sucks
Hope you have been well and hope your week has gone well not long now to Christmas keep up the hard work and will see you at the next 👍 👍 👍 marry Christmas to all the family 👪 ❤

In ground though, ctx is always deep and solid id for me. Always will be an awesome detector.
Thanks and good luck I hope he gets it soon.
totally agree Gary. Its been around this long for a reason.
Do you know What the screen size of the manticore screen in millimeters in width and length as i want to order a custom made anti glare glass screen protector for it?
Forgot to add if you do it again, you could try turning down the sensitivity on the CTX just to quietent it down a bit 👍👍
I messed with it earlier, it does not like the Manticore next to it :-)
@MentalMetal I know ,as Andy had his 800 and I had my 3030 we could not get near each other ,closest we could get was like 12 foot away ,you did well to get them that close👍👍

Or some various coins with iron.
Make test with 2 targets in the same time.
Good Idea, once we thaw out a bit that will be a good test.
Not much differences
Air tests are never any good. In the ground shows the true values. My friend got the Manticore, but already frustrated with the vdi being all over the place.
I'm not really sure what to say to that haha but ok.
is your silver band white gold?
That is a great question I assumed it was silver (found it this year at the beach) with it reading that low (37 I think) it just might be white gold.
Good information, looks like the Manticore might need an update. I bet the engineers at minelab are scrambling
Could be
Minelab is looking at a lot of information on iron falsing info from multiple users...so will hopefully get updated for that 👍
The manticore is outstanding!!!
Thanks Brian

That one made me laugh well done.
MANTICORES 2D...is Complete Garbage and a Waste of Money...basically it's the 900 without the bottom wasted space..imo
I think many would disagree, have you actually used one?
As all minelab products it’s overpriced that’s all they could come up with after 10 years better target separation and lighter . And want £1700 for it lmao no thanks if I want a good all round machine I will buy a deus 2 . And yes I use a ctx 3030 and there still grossly overpriced

It's a pretty cool machine. Thanks for the information.
I loved my CTX but man that thing was a shoulder killer after about 4 hours of swinging it 😂
Yeah its heavy
тест в грунте просим
I guess that this is the same.
CTX is offended
It was a bit sassy
I guess you payan extra 1000 bucks to get a nice dott on the screen that you would already know is a good signal from the tone.
I guess?...

The plus is when you get paint on the line and items also in top and bottom of screen. At least know there are commingled item...might want to check it out!!

Huh? I don't even know where to begin with this comment. 😕
Both detectors were wide open 🤷♂️
exactly thanks @CrazyCressy7
@Mental Metal I think he's referring to C.D's nail test.....
@@MentalMetal Disregard. I was referring to CD’s video which he’s apparently taking down.
