Bert really loves to hear himself talk, and it's amazing how he can't make the connection between all of his health problems and his insane daily alcohol instake.

When she was diagnosed with cancer and she had to stop drinking for surgery, they realized that her blood pressure corrected itself after 36 hours of not drinking to healthy levels. Bert always makes paper thin excuses as to why he cannot stay away from alcohol, which is the telltale sign of an addict. Even when talking about his doctor visits, he says his doctor thinks he’s a perfect male specimen and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with his health. Ironically, it’s the funniest thing he’s ever said in his entire stand-up career. It’s hilarious that Bert still has no idea that Sober October was created to get him sober, yet he treats it like a school camping trip with his buddies
Bert knows he is a addict. He did a podcast with Chris Destanfino and Chris asked how Bert deals with not seeing his kids grow up because Chris was in tears at the realization he is missing his kids lives. Bert said "wtf are you talking about how do I deal with it?" He holds up a glass of whiskey and says it's 10 am. Bert was crying to and told Chris he wished he could tell him it gets better but it doesn't. That conversation shows bert knows his coping mechanism is alcohol and he is fully aware he has a full blown addiction by pointing out he is drinking whiskey on the rocks before noon. Now I think he gave terrible advice because Sebastian has been grinding for decades and has a family without using drugs to deal with being away from his family for all those years. Just pointing out how bert is fully aware he is a full blown alcoholic. He only talks about it realistically when he is comfortable, he doesn't admit to it when he is put on the spot for it.
Ummm no. Rogan does it to show how much more fit he is than his fat, out of shape friends. Remember he has Napoleon Complex. Every year, he insists its a fitness competition, despite him being on PEDs and all his buddies being fat and out of shape addicts. Great friend Joe is. 🙄🥴

@@ZombieRommel 15 servings of alcohol in a 750ml. I did at least ten drinks every day for over a decade. When you drink like that the first five don't do much.
Holy shit, I drink what I think is a lot and mine is always 120/60 even when it feels like "ugh, I feel like shit, this is gunna be when I actually have higher blood pressure." Nope. Highest recorded for me was 130/70. I can't IMAGINE what 180/100 must feel like.
I've gotta say, I don't believe Bert anymore, he's totally cheating. The way he drinks eleven months out of the year, if he just cold turkeyed at this point he'd be in *hard* DTs. Plus, the way he's talking here is the way I talked when I ditched school and was trying to pretend I didn't. All kinds of unnecessary details.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I was boozin pretty hard during the covid lockdowns for about a year and ended in the hospital because I tried quitting cold turkey. They gave me librium to prevent seizures and stroking out. Something don't add up with his story.
@@brownacid4397 Exactly the same with me other than the fact that I was boozin' hard a couple years before you. I bit part of my tongue off during a seizure and I'll never get it back. I haven't been drunk or hungover in years and it is because I quit cold turkey and felt the horrors of DTs. I hope everything is going good for you dude!
@@CaliforniaCarpenter7 Glad you survived! That's a wild story. I drank for many years very moderately but it became daily and heavy right when the pandemic sent me into unemployment. @@brownacid4397 That's a lot, dude! And I did the same. Always worked construction and always had a couple after work. But light, a six pack. Then a huge fire came through my area and in just a few months I lost everything. Fire didn't even burn my house down, but I lost it anyways when my insurance got dropped after the fire and I had to switch companies and they wanted ten grand a year. Couldn't afford it, so I was homeless and sleeping in my car like a druggie. Plus all my local work vanished because people couldn't afford to pay me anymore. Savings were gone. No rentals in California, but lots of parking places. In retrospect I know now that I just wanted to die. Can't blame the booze, it was my own mental problem. But one person cared enough about me to talk about my alcoholism without insulting me or calling me a bum. And that person convinced me to quit when they teared up after saying I was going to die. Cold turkey after that one conversation! But fuck was it bad. Unforgettable. And then you make it out of the woods and have to deal with all the disaster you created through negligence or outright drunken stupidity and my list was very long. It was like turning eighteen all over again and starting from scratch - except now with a pretty solid criminal record 😆. Sorry for the essay, brother, but I'm glad you made it too! I hope you keep kicking ass, dude!
Tom’s facial expressions when Burt talks about his vomiting in his sleep is tragic and poetic. Tom realizes that his friend is close to death, but masks it because he doesn’t want to tame his friends soul.
Bert immediately looks less bloated and a little skinnier! His body is still able to recover in my opinion, if he’s willing to make a change with his drinking. And he should while his body is still able to heal itself and work through the damage effectively.
So happy for Bert for doing this sober October. I do wish that Bert though at the end of the month would just stop drinking all together. Tom is for sure scared for him. I hope this is the jump start for him taking control over his health.
I totally agree. Tom looks so much better compared to just a few years ago. Bert however seems to seesaw rapidly. I think he'll be fine though, if he's telling the truth about his medical results.
The way he talks it sounds like he rationalize his drinking. He thinks he can turn healthy any time he wants too as long as he quits drinking, and sober October reinforces that every year. Until it doesn't. On the other hand, we don't really know how much he drink. People tend to exaggerate for a good story.

Bert is the type of dude that quits drinking a couple of days, works out for 3 days and starts thinking he’s in the best shape of his life.
😂
This hit way too close to home haha
Of course. Same with his career. Come out take your shirt off, show off the gut & drink massive amounts. That’s an act?

It seems like Bert just goes from doctor to doctor until he hears what he wants to hear.
“Right now? I’m looking at you” hilarious retort from Joe
Sober October, while they are smoking cigars 😂
Sober October so far for me is going good. Got a long way to go.
I can relate so much to how Joe described working out while high. The mind muscle connection is insane
But the mind-motivation connection is shit
@@jamescollins2638 that right there varies by the individual. Never been a gym guy myself but hard labour and farm work were always awesome to get in the zone after some good trees. Too much fun to empty the mind and turn up the ass kicking machine
Joe is too small to do much lifting or working out..they showed an enhanced audio of him working out a few years back and him kicking the glove sounded like a 100 mph baseball hitting a mitt.. without the audio enhancement it sounded about like my grandson hitting a sofa cushion..I don't buy alot of Joe's stuff and he looks like a very oily person who isn't healthy
@@mitchelll3879 thank you for your completely irrelevant tangent
@@mitchelll3879 Well he is on juice, so not very healthy at all
One day at work, I checked my BP. It was 180/100. I was drinking a fifth a day at 30 years old, every evening. A month later I got off the booze, and 120/60. I always wondered why I felt like shit, constantly. Duh. Alcohol is a hard drug to do.
A fifth? So 750ml or a bottle a day? Of whiskey? That's a shit ton of alcohol daily.
@@ZombieRommel 15 servings of alcohol in a 750ml. I did at least ten drinks every day for over a decade. When you drink like that the first five don't do much.
200 over 160 at 165 pounds 5,10 height.
@@samuelvaughn3557 and?
Easily could have died when I drank like Bert and quit but the only thing I had going for me was that I was in my twenties and thank God I survived.
I was probably drinking 15 budweisers and a pint of bourbon daily at my worst. I never want to go through that hell again.
Yea there's no way. He should be shaking and have crazy anxiety by now
@@brownacid4397 That's a lot, dude!

Bert talks so much. Tom loves Joe defending his evaluations of Bert.

I think he'll be fine though, if he's telling the truth about his medical results.
he's already done it before. It sounds like he could do with toning it back a skitch, but I don't see the point in stopping altogether
It won't be
The way he talks it sounds like he rationalize his drinking. He thinks he can turn healthy any time he wants too as long as he quits drinking, and sober October reinforces that every year. Until it doesn't. On the other hand, we don't really know how much he drink. People tend to exaggerate for a good story.
