    Very clear video. I had a problem with the original Nikki carb on my Craftsman LT2000 so I decided to swap it out. Watched your video. Bought an aftermarket carb on Amazon for less than $25 and followed your instructions. Took me less than one hour to swap them out and it fired right up. I was that happy. I did a Spring clean up immediately.😊
    Thanks!

    Nice... I have a John Deere L115 lawn tractor with 19.5 and if you push the throttle all the way up to full choke for cold start it instantly floods out and becomes hard to start. If you push the throttle just a hair beyond the "run" position and pull it back to "run" just as it fires it starts, surges a little bit, then runs fine all the way from idle to "run". When it's warm it starts right up in the "run" position... Carburetor?
    Also.. the Intel carbs do not require any adjustment? Just "plug and play"?

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  2 роки тому

      There are no throttle adjustments on these carburetors except maybe engine idle speed. I would say that as long as you have figured out the delicate system to get your tractor to start and run, you're good to go.

    I'm a woman doing this carburetor change for the first time & you are very clear with your change! Thank you very much!!! I had a problem...when I was putting the choke linkage back into the hole the black plate that the linkage hooks into snapped in half (I was very gentle with it)....can that black plate be removed? I saw a video on "how to change" a different model/type plate, but not the plate for this model. I have the 917275810 model B & S 18.5 hp OHV intek engine. (which the carb is like this model you are working on). It is hard to believe that there is not a replacement choke plate & that I would have to buy yet another "new" carburetor because that choke plate is so fragile that it snapped into!! I have looked & looked on the internet and can't find anything on the choke plate replacement...can you find one? If you know I would appreciate your input! Thanks Judie

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  6 років тому +1

      I'm not sure the exact process for changing out the plastic choke lever, but I wonder if you can just use the old one from the previous carburetor? I would try that.

    • @judyjudyjudy9593
      @judyjudyjudy9593 6 років тому +1

      Buckwsr...I thought of that too...but...I don't know how to take the one off the "old" carb. I'm afraid I will break it if I just start taking it off with no knowledge on how to proceed! The video I was watching showed how to take it off the model they have and it looked pretty easy to do...Maybe I should try doing it the way they did. I can hardly believe how easy it is to change the carburetor! I bought the "new" carburetor from AMAZON & they are sending me another carb FREE! Can you believe that? Once again, you did a great job of showing how to change a carb! With good instructions it is easy to do!!!! Thanks for your response and for responding so soon!!! Judie

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  6 років тому

      Here's what you need to do (other than ordering a new carburetor, ha ha.) With a pair of pliers, grab the choke plate and gently but firmly pull it out. Then you'll be able to remove the plastic choke lever from the carburetor. When you install the plastic lever on the new carb, make sure the small spring at the top is correctly in place so that the choke plate automatically opens. Thanks for watching and commenting, and good luck.

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  Рік тому +1

      Silence? I am assuming the starter motor spins the engine when you turn the key, right? If so, be sure to verify fuel flow to the carburetor. Also, make sure to connect the wires to the anti-backfire solenoid at the base of the carburetor. That little fella should make an audible "click" when you turn the key to the run position.

    As I replace the carb both the choke and throttle linkage seem to go to nowhere that can be controlled by the choke/throttle. There was a little brass wire that is now messed up. So I got the carb and put the linkage through the two little holes but the other end doesn’t make it move.

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  2 дні тому +1

      It's always a good idea to take a photo of the linkages prior to taking the carburetor down or apart. Also, when taking the carburetor down, the throttle and choke linkages will be the final thing you undo. When installing the carburetor, the throttle and choke linkages will be the first thing you connect, prior to bolting down the carburetor.

    • @DNYS8N
      @DNYS8N 2 дні тому

      @@Buckwsr I think I didn’t understand the throttle also has a spring wire that easily will break. Not sure where to but these but I may get close to it and rig something. The bigger question is how goes the choke linkage bounce back in place once the choke is released. That U shaped linkage must have a other spring thing. I don’t remember seeing anything.

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  2 дні тому +1

      @@DNYS8N there’s a spring on top of the choke plate that opens the choke plate when you pull the throttle lever down from the choke position to the run position.

      @DNYS8N День тому

      Crazy of all the images and videos I’ve never seen that. All I see is put one end in the black fitting choke thing and the other U ending through the whatever plate. So there’s a spring. Is it like the throttle spring?

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  Рік тому

      Most modern push mowers do not have a throttle cable. The engine speed is set from the factory. Perhaps you're referring to the Control Cable which attaches to the bail on the mower handle and which must be squeezed to start and run the engine? Or, if your mower is self-propelled there is also a second cable which serves to engage the drive wheels? Here is a video I made to explain how the control cable works and how to replace it if you need to: ua-cam.com/video/a3tVL23J87s/v-deo.html

    Hello an older snapper I also changed the carb and now it wont run unless I cover the intake. please advise

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  2 роки тому

      "Covering the intake" would be pretty much like applying the choke, I would guess. So the issue is that you're not getting enough fuel flow through the carburetor jet and up into the combustion chamber. I don't know why. Cheap aftermarket carburetor? clogged main jet inside the carburetor? Insufficient fuel flow from the tank to the carburetor? Plugged fuel filter? These are the things I would check. Very hard for me to know sight unseen and based on your limited description. Good luck.
