I have a mini superbeetle and the dr.robert and they do sound very very similar. They both have that transistor distortion, and i didn't really notice until i got a dr.robert about a month ago. The amp just doesn't have that much gain on tap compared to the pedal.
The two don't really have any common pedigree. The Dr. Robert circuitry is an "accurate" recreation of the solid state preamp section of UL730 amp, and the Mini Super Beetle is just a solid state amp voiced to have the general "Vox tone" (chimey highs and thick mids). It's not really trying to sound like the original Super Beatle or any specific old solid state Vox.
Great video! Wonderful playing and tones! Question- how did you get another neck to go on the Starcaster body? I haven't found a neck to work with it...?
Hey Johnny! I had a buddy Brown Bear Guitars build a custom neck for it, you're totally right that stock necks don't fit... Definitely worth hitting Jesse up for anything you need. Stoked you dig the vid!
That’s what that switch-thingy does!? I’ve been wondering for years, but at this point was too embarrassed to ask. UA-cam comments save the day again. Thanks for the pro tip 👍
@@vampyros1 ❤ Loving this exchange. I'd love for us to spend the rest of the day throwing clever remarks at each other, but I need to get back to learning how this switch-thingy works. Thanks again for the lovely exchange 👍
You can hear the pedal with single coils at 7:58 and 10:14. You can hear the pedal with humbuckers at 9:59 , 11:00 and 11:32 :) Let me know if it helps.
What would be a good low volume amp [playing at home only] to run this into please - one that's not as expensive as your Two-Rock Classic Reverb Signature!!?? 😂🤣

Sorry to ask… are you playing the ‘I want to tell you’ riff wrong on purpose? Listen again, then play it, as it was originally played, just on the A and D strings. Lot easier, and much more authentic.
@@yurita1984 To each their own. The drives you're mentioning fill a very different space on a board in my opinion. Other drives can be used as your 'main drive' (to get most of your overdriven tones, base tones, etc). The Dr Robert is a more 'specialized' drive allowing you to reach more exotic/specific tones when needed. The Dr Rob isn't really a 'do-it-all' drive, so I'm not sure why it would be compared to a TS-style pedal or a transparent OD. But, it's an amazing addition to a board for someone who wants something different than what they're getting from their normal/everyday drives.

Thank you for actually playing Beatles riffs with this pedal
This is THE BEST DR ROBT PEDAL DEMO on UA-cam !!
Beautifully done sir!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the vid :)
I want to thank you guys for how you demo. Most demo vids on UA-cam are 75-80% talking with little actual demo.
This video is sublime. Thanks so much!
Thanks!
I second that!
Best demo I've seen of this pedal - I now fully understand it!!
:)
Your cover of "And your bird can sing" is just superb. Absolutely stunning!
She Said She Said is my most favorite track on Revolver. I love the whole album, too.
I'm usually a Beatles purist, but this is terrific! I'm sure George would appreciate your slide work. ;)
Nah
Thanks!
🤣
I already bought this pedal, yet I keep coming back to this video. So well done and very inspiring
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the vid :)
I love the way you play the vocal parts on the guitar.
The pedals great but your playing makes it.

@@ElectricMojoGuitars They are really expensive.

This video is magnificent, just got one today! 100th comment!!!
can you do a lesson on And your bird can sing, specially your slide parts?
You should familiarize yourself with the concept of a wider range of tones by way of using your pickup selector switch.

Maybe a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue?
what amp are you using or is this DI?
Two-Rock Classic Reverb Signature.
What starcaster is that? Looks like roasted neck?
I think Stu swapped the neck on this one for a neck made by Brown Bear Guitars.
Did u know if this pedal is version v1 or v2 ?
We filmed this demo with a V1.
What’s the difference between V-1 pedal and V-2 pedal?

Beautiful sounding and looking pedal except for those horrible ugly slots on each end for attaching to a special pedalboard! What the hell?
So You are presenting a pedal call dr Robert but yet youre playing and your Bird can sing

This is the worst overdrive pedal sound that i've ever heard in my life!
Alright, thanks for the comment 👍 What's the best overdrive you've heard? 🤨
Then go buy a BIG MUFF
