I would be curious to get Ben's thoughts on Rice-Fish farming like they do in Guilin China. I wonder if you could do it in these Terraces.

probably not if the water freezes, but fish farming was something they used to do all over Europe when it still had its monasteries, so maybe.

I have a husband and 4 boys. They have a pee bucket outside. I use that as deer fencing. Along with the hair my dog sheds I have not had any deer in my garden or the trees I put it around.

Climate change isn't that simple either and started way before mankind has been around, calling it climate weirding is due to people trying to equate climate with weather which is a misconception. The climate has always been weird until recently, when we started modelling with the sun and milky way's influences. Apart from that I agree with the rest mentioned, good stuff Ben, we should all be resilient to the constant weather changes of our climates (several different climates on earth that don't behave at all like each other), for instance we're seeing shorter harvesting seasons in many regions of the world and new growth seasons in other (like the come back of the fertile crescent). Cheers and thanks for your great inputs on permaculture 😉💪

plenty of really shoddy farming practices going on here! Overgrazing, over spraying, soil loss and nitrogen flowing down our rivers into lakes...herbicides for broadleaf control routinely sprayed onto stock in the paddocks and that include today's milking herds...bully boy tactics used on locals that object to overspray or drift...palm kennel import for stock increasing each year etc etc...open the eyes NZ clean and green is a bunch of bs!

Be ashamed NZ 'Big Agriculture' including grass roots (individual farmers) bullying tactics on what is 'good' farming! To my disgust, that NZ embraces such short term profit making vs sustainable long term genuine stewardship of the land and its soil. He uses slides of NZ farm land and forestry as examples of the desertification process currently happening, that has been going on in the world across time and still happening despite ample knowledge on such. (see 9.30min mark). Rest assured Ben Falk NZ 'clean and green' image is an absolute crook of bs...our major industry of agriculture is currently and literally shitting on another major industry of tourism which still trades on our undeserved image.
