I would've been interested in his current CPU. If the user has a pretty old 4-core from Intel 2nd till 8th edition or an old bulldozer FX CPU, the additional driver overhead for the scheduling on Nvidia could be a factor. On the other hand, in all the screen capture you also saw lower power draw, that may also be important for the user. That's a close one.

I'll add, rarely graphics cards are the "same price" With 100$ difference between a dual fan card and triple fan card or 100$ difference between models like TUF vs Strix you can make a lot of the Gpu match up in price. Hell I can get a 4070 and a 4070 super for the same price. Right now a low end 7600xt is the same price as a 4060 high end

Starfield is one of those odd games where Bethesda opted to optimize solely for AMD. It took a 3rd party mod to even get support for RTX features. Either way, that game looks quite fine on my FREE 3070 Ti.
My general rule us AMD for CUP and Nvida for GPU. You save a bit on the CPU and get the same performance when looking OC and then use that extra cash for a slightly better GPU. but my last build was 4 years ago so it may have changed a bit now.

I currently have a RTX 3060 a I7-11700 I still don't know what motherboard plus the PSU to get. I dont think I can find anywhere where the is even close in price to the 6650. In the UK the 6650 is usually about £60-70 cheaper. You can get one new for under £200, best price ive seen here for a 4060 is £265 (most outlets here are still just short of £300) so this isnt a small difference. At the same price do the 4060, its a better card. Graphics performance is, like you say, very close and 4060 just has the edge, but it is way more power efficient than the 6650 and produces less heat. The 6650 is an overclocked 6600 after all. However if youre gaming in 1080p that doesnt matter too much sincerl neither card is gonna be pushed to the limit at that setting.
I ran out of money on my pc upgrade a year or 2 ago, and now I am coming up on another opportunity to finish the upgrade, I'm just having a hard time deciding what gpu/gpu brand to get to the best balance out my system. The $320 6750XT is more in line withe the price of the 4060 and performs the same as the $420+ 4060Ti 16GB. The 6750XT is hands down the best 1080p ultra/1440p high option available right now and has been for over a year.
He'll probably play those games to benchmark CPUs, which would be great since he could explain how many cores are used and give infos about other less notable things like cache and even maximum accepted temperature before thermal throttling.
He tested Fortnite with both Nvidia and AMD cards at a similar price point and he didn't see a major difference in performance that made Nvidia clearly better than AMD, as for content creation, that'll makes sense, but the 3060 is the one that's mostly recommend for content creation due to the 12gb of VRAM.

Here the 4060 (non-Ti) costs closer to equivalent of 350$, the 6650 XT being slightly less at 300$ equivalent. At that price, might as well save a bit for 7700 XT which "only" 100$ more expensive.

The issue is that the 4060 is only better in specific games of which there are fewer and fewer since AMD has been tweaking their GPUs for directX whilst Nvidia's novelty features like upscaling have also become more available. Also for some god forsaken reason, when recording with AMD adrenaline edition using the exact same settings as with shadow play, i still get smaller files with AMDs recording software. So some tech wizardry going on there.
At least where i am the 6700xt is basicly the only option as its even cheaper than the 6650 and ive looked at my local shop and more than half of everything on the dsme chart that you showed in this video except for any card that on the 1440p ultra chart (1440 p for more vram power) that was under 60 fps and either out of budget or someting better for a bit more r even less And where i am the 6700 xt is the best because of prices
Reflex is not a reason to by NVIDIA. AMD has has pretty much the exact samd feature, but instead of only being in a few games it's on the driver level and thus available in all games.
I just bought a 6650xt for my first build and the price difference where I live is $70, I would LOVE to know where you could get the 4060 for the same price.
I still have that mindset that majority of the games or Dev are optimized or biases for Nvidia cards, so... still buy Nvidia 3060 non-Ti to replace my 1050 Ti. Here's to another 5 years on this card.
Hey Zach, I have a question for you. I am a student, probably like a lot of your other viewers, which means I can't go around spending lots of money. Would it be best to cheap out on a laptop for school, and then invest into more of a beefy desktop at home that can handle games, or go all out for a very good laptop that can handle school work and some games, and then dock it in a docking station at home to play games? What would be some pros and cons, and if you would suggest getting a laptop for both school and gaming, which one would you recommend? (as long as it is not dedicated gaming laptop, I don't want it to take off in class🙏)
PC and laptop. I had a gaming laptop and never used it outside of home. Like at school obviously not and i never used it when i travelled cause i did other things. Since you’re a student it’s less distractions more performance and better battery life. Now budget could change that so let me know yours.

I can see why it would be better to get a laptop and a desktop, but it also pains me to spend a lot of money on a good pc, and then only use it at home, which means a lot of my school work will be done on a cheap laptop, which can also be a pain. PLEASE make sure not to use only one chart for comparing gpus. All tests and cards will be slightly different. Use multiple comparisons to get a general ideas who they compare against eachother
Unpopular opinion: "fps per dollar" really doesnt make sense if the gpus(in the same prize range) you compare is already giving you 130+ fps(because at the end of the day nobody gonna notice the difference between 130 and 150 fps). Im saying that if one of them is slower(3-7% kinda range) but it offers more options than the latter than isnt it better?(and no im not an nvidia fanboy just asking your opinion)
Not everyone has the same prices as the US, in some places, AMD Graphics cards are either similar or more expensive than Nvidia cards, which is why the latter is preferred more than the former since they'd get more features for the same price, it's less likely to happen with the RX 6600 or any Nvidia equivalents if you exclude the used market.
You also get better productivity performance and for streaming a MUCH better encoder I cannot understate how much better NVIDIA is for streaming My 2080TI could stream at higher quality and FPS then my 7900XTX can. And even at 720p 48FPS my stream gets slightly blurry when just TURNING

@watersharky7589 the percentage of streamers or people that want to stream is so extremely tiny that it's not worth considering ever unless someone specifically asks for it. Don't make it a bigger thing than it is. Price/Performance ratio, especially on the lower budget cards, are much more important. 7900xtx, for example, was almost 200€ cheaper a few months ago than the 4080. It luckily balanced out, but 200€ more for similar and even worse performance was just horrendous. Of course, nvidias features are a factor, but at some price point, it makes no sense at all. At least they kinda fixed their stupid pricing with the super cards. If they now fix their VRAM decisions, that would be even better.

Honest question. Has water looping phased out? Are they overrated? Are fans and a cpu aio cooler enough in 2024?
I just bought a 6650xt for my first build and the price difference where I live is $70, I would LOVE to know where you could get the 4060 for the same price.
In India RX 6650XT is more expensive than RTX 4060
I saw the 6650 xt for 200 last week on amazon (it sold like hotcakes at fat camp). I doubt theyre the same price

I still have that mindset that majority of the games or Dev are optimized or biases for Nvidia cards, so... still buy Nvidia 3060 non-Ti to replace my 1050 Ti. Here's to another 5 years on this card.
Hey Zach, I have a question for you.
I am a student, probably like a lot of your other viewers, which means I can't go around spending lots of money. Would it be best to cheap out on a laptop for school, and then invest into more of a beefy desktop at home that can handle games, or go all out for a very good laptop that can handle school work and some games, and then dock it in a docking station at home to play games?
What would be some pros and cons, and if you would suggest getting a laptop for both school and gaming, which one would you recommend? (as long as it is not dedicated gaming laptop, I don't want it to take off in class🙏)
PC and laptop. I had a gaming laptop and never used it outside of home. Like at school obviously not and i never used it when i travelled cause i did other things. Since you’re a student it’s less distractions more performance and better battery life. Now budget could change that so let me know yours.

I can see why it would be better to get a laptop and a desktop, but it also pains me to spend a lot of money on a good pc, and then only use it at home, which means a lot of my school work will be done on a cheap laptop, which can also be a pain.
Currently I have a 9 year old desktop with a 4th gen I5, a gtx 960 and 16 gb of ddr3 ram. An upgrade is well over due, and it's frustrating that my desktop is so slow at times.

6650xt is like 50$ cheaper than 4060. Get a 6750xt for the same price, but better performance.
PLEASE make sure not to use only one chart for comparing gpus. All tests and cards will be slightly different. Use multiple comparisons to get a general ideas who they compare against eachother

Unpopular opinion: "fps per dollar" really doesnt make sense if the gpus(in the same prize range) you compare is already giving you 130+ fps(because at the end of the day nobody gonna notice the difference between 130 and 150 fps). Im saying that if one of them is slower(3-7% kinda range) but it offers more options than the latter than isnt it better?(and no im not an nvidia fanboy just asking your opinion)

It could be the case of 6650xt being overpriced due to dwindling stock.
Not everyone has the same prices as the US, in some places, AMD Graphics cards are either similar or more expensive than Nvidia cards, which is why the latter is preferred more than the former since they'd get more features for the same price, it's less likely to happen with the RX 6600 or any Nvidia equivalents if you exclude the used market.
Consider the raytracing
Guys 6900XT or something for 400$
You also get better productivity performance and for streaming a MUCH better encoder

My 2080TI could stream at higher quality and FPS then my 7900XTX can. And even at 720p 48FPS my stream gets slightly blurry when just TURNING

When we’re comparing 2 different GPU’s the point is to compare WHAT they can both do, and are good and worse at.
Productivity and things like streaming NVIDIA is better for, but usually AMD has better price to performance in gaming and some games run better on them
You say “almost nobody wants to stream though”. Brother, that’s not the fucking point, the point is it CAN stream at better quality than a AMD card. IF you want too. It doesn’t matter if you will or won’t, but IF you did, it would be better. You should consider everything when spending that much money
as shown these 2 cards are virtually identical in terms of performance, so you HAVE to consider other factors like productivity or select games or software for your decision
Also not everyone is you and has that believe cuz there are a lot of streamers out there and people that might want to in the future
@watersharky7589 the percentage of streamers or people that want to stream is so extremely tiny that it's not worth considering ever unless someone specifically asks for it.
Don't make it a bigger thing than it is. Price/Performance ratio, especially on the lower budget cards, are much more important.
7900xtx, for example, was almost 200€ cheaper a few months ago than the 4080. It luckily balanced out, but 200€ more for similar and even worse performance was just horrendous.
Of course, nvidias features are a factor, but at some price point, it makes no sense at all.
At least they kinda fixed their stupid pricing with the super cards. If they now fix their VRAM decisions, that would be even better.
