Guy Garvey for me is a lyrical genius. His songs and lyrics always have so much meaning. Having seen them live, you look around and see that the whole audience is in the palm of his hands. Love Elbow...
Listened to this album when it came out. This song always made me think of my brother, the prodigal son if you like and apart from the rest of us. He died three years later at 50 and I still think of him when I hear it.
i am at such a low my friends, i am in a pit of self-hatred and this song just reminds me there will always be those who love me. hundreds of miles away and i still feel their love.
i would just like to say thank you to the band elbow, your music got me through a very hard time in my life if it wasnt for this song i dont even think id be here, everytime i would listen to this song i would stop feeling so lonely and feel wanted again. once again thank you so much
i dont usually listen to this type of music but we did this as a listening exercise in my choir class and I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!!! i love this song sooo much! :)
Elbow are one of the best bands in the world, solid lyrics, music and a voice to rival anyone on earth IMO. Thank You Elbow. please never stop making music.
I saw them for the first time 13 years ago and then again just before the lockdown... I wept so many times... they are one of the best live acts, ever. Incredibly beautiful humans -- love just radiates out of them and spreads through all of the souls connected in that moment -- I will see them every chance I get.
I played this to my son at full volume on the day he left home to move to Stoke-on-Trent. I told him to listen to the words very carefully and not to forget them. I am still crying!
I FORCED the on my brother who wasn't catching on telling them there would be a huge payoff...he's a fan now....and now if I could get him to "get" Radiohead!
My exposure to this band (tipped from a dear friend in the UK...I live in Alaska) has left me awe-struck everytime I hear them. Grounds For Divorce and Fugitive Motel are among my favorites!
Elbow are one of those rare bands that should find a way of only ever producing live albums, because as good as their studio albums are, the music is so much better when performed in concert, everything fulls into place when it's live.
Utterly amazing song, thank god I found this on iTunes on the Olympics albums. This song and One Day Like This are 2 blockbuster songs for 1 band to have.
What an Amazing song! Very emotional and from the heart. Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. this tune is right up there with "One Day Like This" as my fave Elbow tunes. Allan.
Never heard of them before.. Was just watching Children in need rocks manchester on the telly and they are AMAZING!!! Love it ...love it.... love it!!! Beautiful Song!
My brother went of to uni today. The begining especially is relevant "Your a law unto yourself but we can be there for tweeks and repairs should you come back home"
It's rare that i find a newish band i like because my likes for bands are pretty historic (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath et al) at my age but thjis band really is great.Thank you Elbow for rejuvenating my taste in music. :)
Elbow are a great example of a band that matures over time and delivers great music. I wan't a big fan for many years but this recent album is right up my street. Well done lads.
Our 26 year old boy Josh, has just suffered a brain haemmorage ( not sure how to spell something that vile), and had brain surgery two days ago. He's on the up and recovering well it seems. Family have been stupendous. Mr Garvey...if you're anywhere near Salford Royal in the next few days...ward B7, Im sure he'd be made up with a visit ( 2pm until 8pm...though theres a quiet hour 5-6pm) and you can't leave the door open in case some of the patients abscond :)
Ka B Wishing your boy Josh the very best! Your message was a month ago so hope he's recovering well now. Break my heart over this song every time wishing my brother were to come home. Unfortunately he had a brain haemorrhage at 19 and didn't survive so he never will.
It has to have been over 6 years since I've heard this. I haven't forgotten it, but I haven't thought about it either. I wonder what made me think of it after all this time. Maybe it's just that good of a song.😌
Desde que escuche ese tema del juego call of duty 6 y buscandolo es The night will always win quede fascinado por la melodia tan profunda, ahora estoy disfrutando los temas que estan aqui, Wonderfull music !!!!
@JojoMonReturns91 Im not saying lady Gaga,Rebecaa Black or any of those pop stars are good but everyone has their own opinon when it comes to music you can't tell anyone their opinon is wrong but you can tell them they have bad taste you know what I mean hahaha.Well Cheers to great musical taste! I like this song sounds warm and fuzzy and put a smile on my face.
Magnificent song and a magnificent band. If you like Elbow, have you tried listening to Cherry Ghost and Harp and a Monkey? Two bands from the same part of the world who have a similar (though musically different) sensibility.
You know what, screw it. People can like Justin Hacker, Lady BlaBla and Rebecca Whacked for all I care, but this song is so heartwarming that I will be singing this for New Year's Eve to say that everything will be ok. :') I have faith that new artists like this, Janelle Monae, The Aquabats and such have given me faith that music shall be saved soon enough. Thanks Elbow for creating this sad yet heartwarming song. It cheered me up after having to listen to Pink Floyd The Wall. Thank you. =)
What a amazing song brings back lots of good memories ❤️
IM SINGING THIS SONG WHITH YEAR 7 IN MUSIC❤❤❤
Guy Garvey for me is a lyrical genius. His songs and lyrics always have so much meaning. Having seen them live, you look around and see that the whole audience is in the palm of his hands. Love Elbow...
This song is so comforting and meaningful and I love it
This song, being played as loud as possibe, is the only thing that has gotten me thru this past week. Times is hard, music is healing
"The man you are knows the boy you were" Wonderful.
Homecoming, redemption, unconditional love. Makes me weep every time I hear it.
Listened to this album when it came out. This song always made me think of my brother, the prodigal son if you like and apart from the rest of us. He died three years later at 50 and I still think of him when I hear it.
Elbow is just one of the kind. I can't express how this song heals every time I'm down.
He is a lyrical genius for sure
Elbow is getting me through it all - God bless their little furry hearts.
Essential to the Christmas playlist imo.
And Valentines...
i am at such a low my friends, i am in a pit of self-hatred and this song just reminds me there will always be those who love me. hundreds of miles away and i still feel their love.
His lyrics are so brilliantly and beautifully written and sung. Love the raw emotion behind this song.

A song about family and looking after yourself ! I'm missing my family so much at the moment in this lockdown! I need a cuddle!
when i saw them play this song live i weeped, especially when Guy sang the chorus and pointed at me.
I saw them for the first time 13 years ago and then again just before the lockdown... I wept so many times... they are one of the best live acts, ever. Incredibly beautiful humans -- love just radiates out of them and spreads through all of the souls connected in that moment -- I will see them every chance I get.
@@MsVegafox I just found my old ticket stub for when I last saw them on tour and it really made me miss it all again!
So many Elbow songs make me cry!
Best band in the world, years going now. Bar none.
I played this to my son at full volume on the day he left home to move to Stoke-on-Trent. I told him to listen to the words very carefully and not to forget them. I am still crying!
I've only actually recently discovered Elbow, but I've heard so many of their songs before. This is crazy.
I listened to this when my heart got broken. I cried. A lot.
True masters at work, their music will be around forever it's timeless, beautiful, excellence!!!!
Heartfelt stuff as so often before. Very touching. It's taken me years to really "get" Elbow, but I am slowly becoming addicted....
It only took me two minutes to get addicted! Such talent- I'm blessed to have discovered Elbow!
I FORCED the on my brother who wasn't catching on telling them there would be a huge payoff...he's a fan now....and now if I could get him to "get" Radiohead!

This song is amazing. It makes me cry and smile at the same time especially Ruby who is face down in a puddle 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Same for me, but always looking for the next installment
I've heard this song before, but I don't know where. I finally knew the name of the band and song after listening to the Music Choice channel.
However you got here... we got open arms for you mates. Welcome to Elbow.

Guy Garvey is a great singer and songwriter. Not since Brown, Gallagher, Morrissey, has someone so talented come from Manchester!

This song is just so sweet....
The chorus is the best part of this song. It has a powerful message.

This is how music used to be, not comparing the genre of music to The Smiths, but its the same meaningful lyrics and anthemic tone.

Such a great feeling with this song
absolutely beautiful, awe inspiring music.
This song is so uplifting. Absolutely fantastic :D
