- Jigs and Spinnerbaits! Wide Open Bass Fishing! Come along for an awesome evening on the water as we fish shallow, flooded brush for aggressive fish! These are the conditions we dream about!
This afternoon we're fishing a great big pond. The fish get a lot of fishing pressure but with the high water they've moved into shallow cover and Matt has a plan to get them out. Watch it unfold as he makes bait adjustments until he dials in a non-stop bass catching pattern!
Below you'll find links to the exact baits Matt was using throughout the afternoon. We've also included the colors, rigging components, as well as the rods and reels he was fishing with. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Imagine having matt or tim as a friend to fish with 😂
Would be dope😂
My pb wouldn’t be 3 pounds😭
Imagine if either of those two EVER decided to answer or comment on replies…
Lol!
We answer comments across all platforms as much as we can. What’s your question?
1️⃣🥇🏆It's TB time again!🎉🎣
Sipping coffee watching TB waiting for my youngest to finish his nap so I can take my kids fishing. Life is good.
Life is good! Good luck today!!
I'm liking these vids of you guys just fishing, and commenting on where, when, and what your using. Very fun and very practical info. Great job guys!! Thanks a million!!!
Sounds like me and Matt have the same favorite spring pattern. Flooded shallow power fishing. Love it!
Yes!!! 🙌
You guys put out the best info. I appreciate you guys for elevating my craft every week, multiple times a week!!!❤
Thank you for the support!
I mean no disrespect. Tim might want to read this comment. My Grandson wanted to watch fishing videos. I let him watch one of the buyers guide videos You do together. He made the comment that stuck with Me. Matt was describing the action of chatterbait trailers. As always Matt was all in giving the description. My Grandson said dadgum that guy is a karate talker. His hands are fast. Karate talker fits perfectly for Matt. There are some good UA-cam fishing channels but You guys are the measuring stick for the rest. Plus pretty good self defense training. Nothing but love and respect for what You guys do and how You do it.
Tactical Bassin this morning and tackle warehouse order comes this afternoon....life is good 🎣
Ha! That reminds me I need to go place one...
The boat flip lip catch at 5:14 was way too clean 😂. Great vid as always!
Matt, your my favorite angler of all time. I have learn so much from you! Thanks for all the lessons and the tackle collection I have now! Lol
i feel that heavily
What a day! Awesome hookups
very nice. Matt absolutely locked in the zone
Nice place with great fishing. 👍
That's a nice body of water, beautiful bass. Thanks for tne tips!
The bearded bandits of the back country.
Snatching up bass, one pond at a time. 🤣
It’s good to have friends in high places. Im connected too! Get to fish lots of nice private ponds.
I wish we were well connected! We've never been good at accepting help... we're stubborn and grind it out on pressured public waters. (thus why we've only been here twice ever)
Private lakes are sure nice though! It's a blast when we go!!
I have access to 3 private pond but not very big, and I catch bigger fish on the local lakes.
Great video for demonstrating how to dial in the technique from catching fish to catching the most fish possible.
looks like a lot of fun there Nice looking lake
Thanks for the video. Lot’s of good information!
Great video, and what a superb catch-up on that one catch. Never miss a video
What an awesome day of fishing, enjoyed it, wish I could have been there!🎣👍
Fun outing
Great content always!!!
That was some great action. Love the videos and body of waters you fish.
Great work guys!
Thanks!
Would love to see more pond videos
great buddy
Anothe great video guys. Good job.
My guy smashes them as always😎🤙🎣🇺🇸
i LOVE that kinda fishing!
no frog fishing back in those trees?
Too much fun! Didn't have them with me... but once they're eating that jig I'm locked in 😂
@@tacticalbassin oh I feel you on that jig bite.. I was just surprised I didn’t see a frog 😉
Killin me at work
Man, you guys have a blast. I would love an opportunity to hop on a boat with you! I can't tell you how many puzzle pieces you've helped me put in place. By far my go-to channel for bass fishing.
Love this type of content! Big ones and small ones, overall just a great day out on the water!! For those folks who say "oh I don't catch small ones" LIES!!!
Thanks for the support!
It’s Hammer time 😎
What a beautiful “pond” and full of really great fish. Gaylon has a piece of paradise no doubt and he’s gotta be thrilled that you joined him for this high water happening 😜🍀🎣🍀💯✊ Matt, I always learn something watching the channel and a sneaky hint on this was the Zodias 7’5” heavy I’ve been a Shimano4Life guy since the early 70’s , but I can’t keep up with you guys😂😮😂 Great Job 👏
That is a sweet rod and seriously, that pond is amazing! It's not managed at all but just the sheer size is incredible!
Awesome video
Thanks!
We went fishing on the 25th of April, we tried chatter baits, senko, rooster tail, jig for crappie, rattle trap, plopped, small rattle trap. We caught one small bass, I hooked a brim in the eye with the plopper and lost one. We could see them swimming moving in the water every where! What were we doing wrong, they just wouldn’t bite. The water was a little clear. We tried White, we tried greens and brown, we tried pumpkin seed with a shartrue, tail. We are trying to learn to catch bass. I watch your channel all the time. I appreciate your advice. We don’t have a depth finder, we just fished the banks.
I'm an addict to a spinnerbait and swim jig bite!
Swimbait and glide baits are becoming my favorite bite though.
It would be a real pleasure to spend a day fishing with one or both of you the lake I fish in NC. It's loaded with trout and big bass. I've went all in with glide baits and it's just been ridiculous!
We're all ears 😂 Everything about that sounds fun!!
Nice. All my best friends own ponds.😉
Hey Matt would love to see you do an in depth video on rip rap banks. Cheers!
Great video today. I will be in the market for a boat in the next year and would love to see a video on buying a boat on a budget
That was a fun 1!..non stop action..that 1 fish that ran up on ya was a great catch and it even did a lil dance to top it off lol
That fish was crazy! Thanks for coming along!
That's gotta be the biggest pound I've ever seen where I live That's a lake 👍 very good fishing 🎣
Thanks for another video explaining different lures. Definitely need regular or tinted glasses for the safety factor!
Great video, as I get ready to put the musky gear away and get the bass gear out here in northern ohio, I can not say how many extra musky I’ve caught because of good glasses and polarised lenses! Great video
Welcome back to bass! That musky fishing is addicting though!!
Hey guys it would be awesome for y'all to come try out some of the lakes we have in east Tennessee! Y'all's videos never disappoint 🔥🔥🔥
We've fished some of them and you'd better believe we intend to fish the rest 👍🏼
So much fun y'all!!! I had a blast fishing with y'all as usual!!! I'm going to get my TB sunglasses right now!!! 😎🙌🎣👏🎉
#1tacticalbassinfan
Thank you for the support! I'm glad you enjoyed coming along!
Matt the guy who tells fish how to best bite every bait for the most secure hook set 😂
Imagine having a friend like Gaylen to invite you to his private pond. What a great day.
Dude, your skill at pulling those fish out of heavy cover is all pro!
Thanks Chris!
@@tacticalbassin Praise well earned brother!
I came here for therapy because I just dumped my PB at shore because of a rookie mistake. Thx for the content guys, helps keep us all going when things get rough.
Hang in there!! I'm so sorry that happened!
You guys should come down to central alabama and fish the black warrior for some nice largemouth and spotted bass.
18:05 BASS WANTED TO BE IN THE VIDEO AGAIN LOL
Jet boat!?! Yall have to haul that up to the susquahanna or upper potomac and do a video of shallow water smallmouth fishing! If you needed any advice on where to run just let me know im local to the area!
Great video as always.About the glasses, It would be great if they came in clip on to fit prescription glasses.
I have prescription glasses that have magnetic polarized sunglasses to clip on top, they’re pretty good
Damn us Pond guys would call that a small lake 😅 at least in comparison to most ponds
Amazing video! I was wondering if you guys could make an updated crystal clear water video? I’ve been having trouble catching fish in Lake Mead it’s usually 15-20 ft visibility.
Been crushing large mouth in FL! Please do a post spawn lure video! I sure could use some tips for when it gets really hot here!
We definitely will. You're just a little ahead of the curve so information will often be a bit delayed for you so that it's on time for the core of the country.
Watershed!
That big fish was just an acrobat. From the super fast 20ft run before you could set, to tailwalkin on the release. 😊
That fish was crazy!
Hey Matt, did you have fun? Lol
😂😂😂 Just a little bit 🤏🏻
Water in the 70's? Man I'm just one state over in Arkansas and we're not close to that at all. I guess the diff is highland res vs. pond. Its been pretty chilly here for a good bit now.
14:56 a Swimbait goes flying across the screen...whos in the back of the boat lol
Do you have any videos on the upgrades you did to the jet boat?
While you are in GA stop by my place and we can fish a few private lakes with big fish in them!
Im jealous of many things here, 1. Sick jet boat (anyone know what model?) 2. That pond 3. Those conditions. Awesome day matt. I’ve been ripping them on BFS all April here in Fort Worth on my channel too 🤘🏽.
Thanks man! The boat started as a basic War Eagle but it's been highly modified by Mike Watson.
@@tacticalbassin I want to get a 1448 or 1648 all weld with a jack plate or jet motor that I can fish like a TANK in the near future🤘
I don’t even use UA-cam anymore unless I’m watching TacticalBassin
We appreciate you Cody!
Looks like great fun. Do you suggest any sun glassed for someone who wears regular glasses?
That "pond" is several times larger than the "lake" I fish! 🤣
Ha! It's a big one!! What you can't see though is the whole thing is only a few feet deep.
@@tacticalbassin Very much the same here! Half this lake I could easily stand in, a good chunk is less than waist deep. It gets deeper near the levy, but that is only around eight feet. I didn't realize how shallow it was until I got a kayak and started exploring. Our water ranges from very murky to choco milk, you really can't see the bottom any time of year, so I had no clue for a while.
when do you feel the need to switch from jigs to plastics or do you use jigs year round? thats look like an awesome fishery!
Have you guys ever fished in Lake Champlain?
sunglasses also help protect the eyes from the glare off the water so you dont get surfers eye
Can you all give any input on a crossover swimbait/glide and light flip/pitch rod around $200 or less? Talkin magdrafts, swavers, things like that and max 1oz flip/pitch jigs.
Great video and content at the pond! I had a quick question, how long of a flouro leader do you attach to braid when fishing a spinner bait?
It totally depends on water clarity but roughly 5-8 feet.
Do you ever go straight flouro? If so, when? I'd imagine heavy wood?
My plan A is always a spinner or chatterbait. I switch lures if I don't get bites after the first hour 🤣🤣🤣
Have you ever tried Bass Assassin rather than the Fluke? A friend had me try it, and I really believe it has better action.
2 questions; What is the best lens if I could only I one pair. And recommendation for those who need clip-on's?
Thanks in advance.
In my opinion the best all around for sight fishing is copper.
I’m heading to the river this morning to bream if the bream are bitten
Wednesday's lesson!
we need to get you to start kayak fishing,
Search "tacticalbassin kayak" ...we've done it for years 👍🏼
There's just something about the sound of water smacking the bottom of a jon boat that makes me want to skip work today 😅
I know what you mean!! Thats a familiar sound full of memories for each of us too.
65lb braid? Sounds massive. I assume it is to prevent breakoffs on snags in cover? Great video.
That's definitely part of it, but also because the larger line diameter is easier to manage on a baitcaster than smaller diameter braided line is. 50 to 65 lb braid spools more evenly and doesn't kink or knot up as easily or "dig in" like the smaller diameter braid does. 50# and 65# are both pretty interchangeable to me, but I'll never use lighter braided line than that
Hmmm… I wonder what way is Matt’s favorite to catch a bass 😅
What leader connection knot do you use on a casting setup?
A modified blood knot with 9 loops each direction.
What do y’all use to store your buzzbaits?
I know people think about big fat lazy giant largemouth, but those big largemouth can move scary fast when they want to. Caught a 9 lber last year that had to change direction for me to catch up and set the hook.
Isn't that amazing??? They're slow until they're done being slow 😳
Top baits for May on Friday ?
When I'm out fishing I literally hear his voice narrating in my head burn burn burn pause burn burn burn pause
Ha! That's awesome!!
Quick question. Would any of the rods in the curado line be a good bfs rod?
Yes, there are 2 great BFS rods. 7'2" ML and 6'10" light glass.
@TacticalBassin thank you so much. You always find the time to reply to me. I have asked questions on Tim's videos and never get a response lol. I know y'all are vary busy. Thanks again
Real quick what about the 6'10" ML?
Hey TB guys, I'm going through withdrawal...haven't bought any lures in at least 2 weeks...any wakebait buyers guides in the near future?
Ha! Odds are pretty good we've got you covered sooner than later 😛
Great time fishing, I watch you all the time. I do have a question, you both talk about sunglasses but you show and don’t mention anything about sunglasses for the fisherman that wears glasses all the time.
The only problem with the sunglasses is they don’t make for people who wear glasses. clip-on or wear oversized to work over glasses.
Are u using a Trailer on the Spinnerbait?
Yes 👍🏼 We linked the trailer as well in the description.
Difference between fisherman and me…you catch 30 fish in the day and I’m still looking to catch my 3rd. I guess there are different lures to use at different times?
Where can I get this info? 😂
Where was this filmed at( you don’t have to say the exact place I get you probably don’t want everyone coming to your spots) but what state are you in?
This was filmed in Georgia
@@tacticalbassin Thank you!
Have you guys ever thought about making a set of clip-on lenses for people who have to wear prescription glasses?
You can get prescription sunglasses
TacticalBassin makes googan squad kids look like posers!
Its a pond. It doesn't matter what you throw. You could throw a hotdog on a hook and pond fish will hit it.
Not all ponds are created equal. This one gets fished and it 100% matters.
@@tacticalbassin makes for a good bait selling video but I've fished stocked heavily fished ponds b4 and they will hit absolutely any bait you throw, especially if food is scares.
have you ever fallen out of a boat when setting a hook?
