It's a really good idea how the artist(s) purposefully made it seem unstructured. It actually sounds like cavemen discovering music over time - a long time (months, years) just represented in their own bits during the course of these 5,48 minutes.
Civ 5's use of ethnic music is much more immersive in my opinion. Civ4 has great music, especially in earlier eras, but it feels generic in a sense that there's no difference between cultures.
The thunder is a nice touch, it adds a sense of realism. You're bored, sitting in your cave, hut, abode or whatever cause it's raining and you got nothing to do so you do that lazy, nonchalant hand-clap and then....holy fucking shit....huh? Hold up, I need a stick and a log.
Today top story. Empire make warrior- club smash. Leader person say need pointy sticks make hurt. Entertainment news. Fire hot like new single by Grunty Laughman. Him gets many meat and long hair soft man.
the soundtrack in civ 5 isn't bad, it's just boring, sometimes grating, and you have the same tracks playing in the modern era which were playing in the ancient era
How can we find more music like this? I can't seem to find good primitive theme music like thid anywhere, there's always pianos and violins on the background or some synthectic noise ruining the mood.
Yes but I think when you build a city next to a hut it is automatically "discovered". But it takes like a few seconds for everything to load and you can take a screenshot.
a while ago, while watching one of those tiktok duet chain videos, I submitted that *THIS* exactly is how music was born, thousands of years ago. one guy making a noise, someone else joins in, all of a sudden you have a whole ensemble of people doing different things, all going to the same beat. that's why that tiktok video was so popular: it showcases TRUE music, not that engineered bullshit of the late 20th century.
Well two-movers are usually slowed down by forests. In this game, having forests next to your city is actually BAD. Rivers, however, do help, since the defender gets a bonus if being attacked by a non-amphibious foe across a river (or from a body of water).
@JelchKaTlen Good for that, but bad if you don't chop them down and the enemy decides to camp out in your forests to make it harder to you to exterminate them!
Caveman hit single.
Was number one on the Caveboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks in a row!

#1 Rock song for the entire epoch

Clapping and singing were most likely the first ever instruments
I actually thought it sounded like raindrops at first but that’s a very interesting perspective. I never thought of it that way.
It also has a Asian tribal/Japanese feel to it because of the wood chimes. Gamelan too if I may say so.
This is one of my favourite Civilization games probably for the categorization of music depending on which era you're currently in.
Yep. Civ IV music is better compared to V (V is not that good IMHO)
Anyone who dislikes this game, needs the head examined
civ 3 does the same
Civ 5's use of ethnic music is much more immersive in my opinion. Civ4 has great music, especially in earlier eras, but it feels generic in a sense that there's no difference between cultures.
How about Civ 1 on SNES
this song alone makes buying surround sound headphones worth it.
You realise this video is encoded in stereo right...?
That's how good the song is.
@@JoeyRhubarb Maybe it's virtual surround sound processing done by the headphones. I've seen that before

I never realized how magnificent Civ 4's soundtrack was until I stopped playing the game for a while.
there you have it peeps, the very first lyric was "bruh"

I really loved this game. Still do. Even reading the manual was exciting! (Mostly because I was waiting for the game to install, but anyway)
Ii love the "HAHAHAHA"
Your warrior has been killed by a bear.
Not my favourite civ game, but definitely my favourite civ soundtrack.
Cavemen used to listen to this music while gently making sweet love to their soft fur wrapped women besides a gentle fire inside a cozy cave
***** Sorry :s
great comment, though kkkk
I listen to this while on the toilet
So this is the Barry White of the paleolithic?

Golden comment.
wow he even got caveman sephiroth to be with him what a legend!
long hair soft man XDDDDDDDDDD
Good starting spot! River on 3 sides, amazing! And to the south...production! :D
I never realized how epic this song is
Always gets me so hyped for the game, jumping in my chair a little :D
This is so climatic. They kinda screwed up the soundtrack in civ 5.
Pepito Caballo I disagree.

yeah i don't think it's bad, just bad in comparison. I thought Civ 5 was a great game overall.
curtsher11 civ IV soundtrack was way better though
Civ V's soundtrack was mindnumbingly dull, it had no character at all and everything just sounded the same.
That's a friendly village.
Эх, ностальгия

That was the real music, not this contemporary crap we have today!
There's a Holy City Shrine in the city already, and the city size looks about 4 or 5. Don't think that's a newly built city.
if only it was on a hill with walls and a castle...
This isn't bad position, but yeah
Yes but I think when you build a city next to a hut it is automatically "discovered". But it takes like a few seconds for everything to load and you can take a screenshot.
I was thinking about it too. Maybe they just photoshopped the hut in to create an image that conveys the spirit of the game.
Definitely photoshop, look at all the great works in the city.
@SickBritKid
I never actually paid attention to the town. You make a very good point though with that!
Amazing music

Barbarians theme!
Fascinating!
This situation is not even possible. There is barbarian village in next tile, it should be gone instantly when you build the city.
@LinkMarioSamus
Especially when there's a god-damned barbarian hoard surrounding your city.
1:36 wtf is that?
+Andrew Murray a frog?
+Samuel Denman Yeah maybe!
sounds like a stone pushed away from a cave.
There is that but there is also a voice or a croak or something...
A goron
Doesnt matter in the game the emeies are not slowed down by rivers or forests. In theory its great, in real life also.
rogan?
@JelchKaTlen Good for that, but bad if you don't chop them down and the enemy decides to camp out in your forests to make it harder to you to exterminate them!
wood=bad? think of all the mills:)!
The bit at 5:06 is unironically very good
