Les Bouchons Review | The Best Steaks in Singapore Ep 4

- I got plenty of recommendations to go to Les Bouchons and at face value, I could see why.
A really nicely decorated restaurant, a convenient location, steak & frites with free flow fries at a reasonable price.
What's there not to love? Only the most important part of the equation.
It might be that I have been spoilt by the previous steakhouses or that they were having an off day, either way, I have known only to be honest in my reviews.

I remember visiting this place for a birthday, and it was the first time I've felt disappointed for a special occasion. Honestly had a better time at Jack's Place than here. Feels nice to have my opinion validated 😅
❤️ love this series….hope you do at least a dozen reviews!
Bro I love your reviews and you totally deserve a larger audience!! Thank u for taking your time to make these videos for us to watch
thank you for watching! glad you enjoy the videos (:
Loving this steak series so much! As a steak lover, i really value your deep insights and honest opinions. Can't wait for the other episodes! P.S. Hope Cavemen is on your list xD
glad you liked it! I'll add the recommendations to the list (:
Thanks for reviewing. You saved me a trip there.
I love your honesty
Absolutely love this series and this episode.
This particular place, I visited it twice, just to give it a second chance before I completely banned it from my list of steak places to visit and...
I fully agree with what you have stated here.
Nothing terribly exciting on the steak quality here, in fact, I have had better steaks at 40-ish SGD.
Not much else to say here, really.
This is probably the primary reason steaks are one of the dishes I tend to avoid locally? The number of times I had 'misses' more than 'hits' made me kind of fearful of splurging on anything related to the aforementioned slab of gastronomic 'delight'....or perphaps... I grew up with cheap steaks which are often associated with tough rubbery cuts with loads of sinew, questionably drenched in thick peppery sauce.
Anyhow, your steak series also highlights some important stuff that I have learnt so far....Steak truly is a testament to the skill of a chef/steakhouse, from meat selection all the way to the presentation. It really makes sense how something like that can range from cheap to crazy expensive.
hi alderic, will you be including braseiro in this series? loving the content so far, thanks!
glad you like it! I'm thinking about it at the moment, this episode is making me hesitate with steak frites
I went to their JB outlet and had their Valentine's Day meal, the steak + soup + fries + mocktail is RM180, which I would say is good value. The steak is nothing to scream about but it's tender lahhhh. Ok i need to follow your series to find the best steak!
Keep going I'm hooked with your steak series!
glad you like the videos, I'll keep going!
@@Alderic. hey alderic, do try Angus house in taka. (If they haven't moved) Japanese style radish sauce also available in Indonesia.
Thanks for the video!
You can consider isteak, they have a few locations, they serve sub $30 nett steaks that taste great for the price. can't go wrong. when i want to cheap out but still want to eat some BIIF, i go there.
LOL... I love your honesty!!! Though like you I am biased... and in the last 3 months I have been to Les Bouchons twice and I absolutely loved the steaks at that price point! I think you mentioned before... Steak quality is about the price and for an upperclass French Steakhouse, dollar for dollar, I felt it was really calue for money. Granted both times I had the Super Entrecote and the free flow fries are just simply amazing! One Man's meat is another man's poison! Simply true here... thanks again for the Steak reviews!! Not sure if Bedrock and Dan's Steakhouse are in your radar... would love to hear your opinion on them... again personal view... dollar for dollar... Les B is my fave steakhouse! 🙂
thanks for watching! I might actually return to Les Bouchons to try the other dishes because they have all the right signs of a good restaurant. Thanks for the recommendations too, I'll keep them in mind!
this series is titled "the beat steaks in sg" for a reason. Money is not factored in this...
the deep silence that ensued after the first bite was hilarious LMAOOO
can u do isteaks as many ppl go there for cheap/decently priced steaks
Visited this place couple of years back and clearly glad you felt the same as I did..🤣
Snap thumbs up for the guile soundtrack.
I would like to see how this steak house stands up to steaks in isteak
Isteaks should be coming up!
That steak looks like from my neighbourhood western gril siah. Do you plan to do Le Bistrot Du Sommelier? They not bad. Even Henri at Church street seem to have better steaks than this.
Will check those out!
Give Wolfgang Steakhouse a try! Expensive, but you won't be disappointed- wonder what yr thoughts are for that too 🤔
Definitely will give that a try!
I was planning to go to the outlet at Robertson Quay. Now I have doubts 😅
Better not the new owners are just investors non of them are chefs themself
bedrock dry aged ribeye 3 steaks for sure (value for money). 2nd to wolfgang bro
I want to know if you at least got more free flow fries though, too bad the steak was mediocre..
I was pretty full from 2 steaks already unfortunately. The sauces were really nice though.
The founder of this restaurant had already sold it few years back. It used to be the best but after they change all the crew including the head chef I had never visited it again
ahhh I see. thanks for letting me know!
alderic, can post full video of you singing? not bad sia
don't lah, later I lose subscribers.
mister alderic what made you decide on tap water?
because the still or sparkling water question is a scam! If you answer either way they will charge you a crazy amount of money for the water. Tap water is free.
@@heartbeatpoetry7704 oh okay usually i bring out a water bottle since in my country tap water isnt as clean
Money, really.
@@Alderic. fair
@@jessicaregina1956 I taste the difference but I usually just bring my water bottle since I commute sometimes after school
Mate I would say that coffee shop steaks are better than any french steaks i have had even in Paris... Maybe just our Asian taste buds yeah haha
no wayyyyyyyy
Review more steakhouse please 🙏🏻
coming right up!
how the hell did they survive if they're across from picanha's?
good restaurant model probably. another restaurant that can survive 20 years in Singapore's climate is an incredibly well-ran restaurant.
maybe i'm biased but the French can't really do steaks properly at least based on my experience. Steak frites just doesn't cut it most of the time.
I got quite a lot of recommendations to try Braseiro but I'm hesitating now because this experience with steak frites.
@@Alderic. one way to find out. you have to give them a chance to prove us wrong.
aiyo quite sad to see the steak like this. tbh first time i went i enjoyed it more, 2nd time not so much. Maybe no consistency. BUT.....their french onion soup and other things other than steak are really good. I think they more well known for their lunch value set, like u said maybe cos got value and service that's why survive so long
yeah their lunch set is so value actually. it's like $35++ for 3 courses or something.
Just a suggestion. Not following this series the way I was for burgers and fried chicken. These days, with rising prices ... So suggestion if I may, to do a series on something more everyday. Happy new year!
Happy new year! Don't worry, even if I wanted to, I don't think I can maintain this price point.
💜👍💜👍💜👍
This and wooloomooloo totally cmi.
I like wooloomooloo but I have had people tell me they had negative experiences/ grey steaks there.
@@Alderic. perhaps you had a better experience after they took notice of your camera setup. Perhaps.
LOL first time I see people give such a negative review, I'm subscribed to it :D
thanks for the sub! although, I expect negative reviews to be a rare occurrence. I do a fair bit of googling and asking around before deciding to go down and make a video. but if it's really bad then I have to call it.
Because its done by local chefs. Not french
Yes. Been to them once. It was horrible steak.
Ouch 😢 scare to do FnB lio
I don’t think this is a fair comparison for Les bouchon as you did not order the same thing there as you did at other restaurants.
That's true but at the same time, I think I'm fair enough. I'll be ordering all of the chef recommended/signature items of the steakhouses I visit. I think it makes more sense to take all of their best shots instead of restricting it to a certain cut and price point.
hahaha
Doubled down and lost 😥
I can feel the pain also 🥲
sadge
I could literally see the light leaving your eyes 😂 what a shame on the 🥩
The light left the sky too.
can you bring me to eat steak with you
Alderic can I come eat with you
I’m first and I’m Indian I can’t have beef although this looks DELIOUIOUSO
Aiyo why even bother trying these mediocre steak restaurants. I am sure there are many good steaks place in Sg like Dempsey Huber's Bistro etc
Agreed. Le bouchon is rubbish
Anyone who drinks tap water opinion is invalid
My Singaporean privilege is showing.
Dear Alderic,
Apologies for re-commenting as we are unsure if our response had been sent successfully.
Thank you for visiting Les Bouchons and for featuring us in your review. We are sorry to learn that your recent dining experience had been less than satisfactory and would like to reassure you that all guest feedbacks are very much valued as our team is always striving to do better and be better.
Having established ourselves as a place for quality steak frites at a great value since 2002, the areas where we have not met your expectations is of concern and if you may be keen, we would love to organise a session with our Chef so that we can share and unravel some of the questions you had during your visit.
Regardless, we will still continue to work hard to improve and to do our best to meet all of our diners’ expectations.
Once again, thank you for highlighting the areas where we can do better and please do feel free to reach out to us at marketing(at)langelusgroup(dot)com if you are keen to meet our Chef. Thank you!
This is so cute. I hope Alderic takes this up!
Unravel some of the questions? For what? Like assuring the steak has the "Angus" name? What you guys need to do is to up your game. I've been to your restaurant once (I'm Indonesian), and totally agree with alderic's review. Being a foreigner allocating a dinner slot to a place is a big deal. Free flow fries is a useless gimmick in my opinion.
