This man is one of the bravest people in the world. Putting his deepest thoughts into song and then reliving them everyday on stage for a living.. so much respect.
It's the year 2020.
He is an even more incredible vocalist/song writer/man.
A silver lining in this shit year.
IMO you can tell by observing the vocalist and the way he sings that the lyrics aren't fake. It's like he's almost telling a story. He sings with a lot of emotion, and expresses it well through hand gestures and body language. Very cool clip!
And that is why Justin Furstenfeld is such an incredible musician. Awesome writer too!

It reminds me of the regrets I felt daily of all the bad choices I've made; so many bad choices. Though I don't feel that way any more, for the most part, I know it just lays there, around the corner, waiting for me to get weak. To me this song and the way he preforms it right here is my truest definition of what "Art" really is. To me art is some medium that elicits an emotional response. That can be a photo, a painted portrait or scene, a poem or passage from a poem, lines from a song, the sounds from within that song like a guitar solo or even drum solo or in this case the song, the performance, the passion and the depth of his feelings, struggles and demons shown by the way he preforms it. You feel every note every spoken word. Justin is a true artists and I can't express enough how all his music to date affects me feel (both sad and happy). Kudos brother, you are definitely one of a kind.

Every version or performance of Hate Me is amazing. Justin's voice is amazing, the music is like no other and his lyrics speak to, almost, everyone. I'm almost an old lady and was dumbfounded when friends didn't find Blue October to be amazing: then or now. I'm on a quest to hear every version of every song before purchasing a collection
Hopefully, I will able to find a wheelchair and someone willing to push it down the stairs with me in it so I can get a good seat if we are ever blessed to have him perform in our area.

I’m extraordinarily grateful that my children have grown up experiencing the emotion of their music. For their 13th birthday they have received the gift of a live Blue October concert. When we’re pissed at each other and can’t articulate our feelings, we send Blue October songs & lyrics to each other. When we’re happy, we have Blue October dance parties. It becomes a secret language, a dynamic with a life of its own.

Once I realized this song was for his mother, it brought a whole new meaning. And also, to the people teasing his "twitching" I just saw him live last night, and it was the best performance I've ever seen. Trust me, it's a lot more interesting to watch a performer who has that much passion for his music, rather then someone who just stands there. And besides, look at his album title, "Approaching Normal" he doesn't exactly want to do what everyone else does.

I just saw a guy saying Justin can't sing unless he's in a studio. Well, this is as good as the "original" or even better, once he does not have much opportunity to express himself while singing on the clip, but does it on this amazing live version. I'm pround of listening of Blue October because they are truly talented and make real good and deep music. Hate Me is just one of their masterpieces
I've seen them live every single time they've come to my state's capital and I can vouch for the fact that he sounds just as good if not better indoors AND outdoors. I'm actually seeing them this weekend as well and CANNOT wait!
Look up the live 10th Anniversary version of this song. It’s amazing. I’ve been listening to it a lot lately and I cry every time. His words are hitting me incredibly hard right now, reminding me of all the amends I need to be making right now after making it through my first year of sobriety.

I am 50 years old and I just started listening to you're Music. The first song I fell in love with was Into The Ocean and I have been hooked since then. I love you're Music each one I have heard so far means something to me. You're music is still new to me having started so late in my life but that's OK at least I am listening to it now!
This isn't a song. This is a statement. An apology to those he hurt. A reminder that he is human. And acceptance of what needs to happen for the other person to be whole. This song hurts me so much because sometimes we keep people we love from living their best life. The fact that he loved the person enough to let, or rather force, them to separate from him before he drug them under the same waves that were drowning him. Thats strength man. Strength beyond strength.

I've heard many versions of this song and I think this one is definitely the best of them. I find myself watching this video repeatedly because you can really see the emotions he's feeling in this video. You can see contempt, sadness, regret and love in his face and hear it in his voice. This is, without a doubt, my favorite song by Blue October.

I discovered Blue October in Iraq in 2007. This was one song I listened to every night as I walked back to my hootch. It it me at home and I listened to it over and over again. The message, the anger, the fight, the peace....all came to me each and every night. Thank you Blue October for the song that made me feel like I was not alone!!

WOW!!! I'm 65 yrs.old and can say that this is the best video I've ever seen. The passion he shows during the performance is very real. The "twitching" thing is what it is, who cares? Fantastick vocals. My son turned me on to this group. They are great.

Everytime he screams.. it's so powerful. It means so much because.. in a way, it's a metaphor. It'a not a scream, it's a cry. It's a cry for any help that he can get. And he screams as loud as he can, but it's so quiet. It's hardly audible. It's quiet, and there are things louder than him.. so the louder gets paid attention to, leaving him to suffer. I think all of us can relate to that. Everytime, I get shivers.
