Question to said beggars: ...Why are you begging for Wizard101 stuff again? It's WIZARD101 STUFF. Go beg for something like... Toothpaste or something, that has value. ...Or maybe beg for some maidens.
From a player that's been playing this game for years, I would say that a lot of the reason that people keep playing this game, cause this game in particular might have been most people's first MMO and they've been playing it for SO many years to the point it's something that, even though you know it's not as as good as it used to be you still force yourself to keep playing, trying to essentially "reclaim the magic," but it's just not there anymore or some people just aren't aware it's not like in the old days where you had very few MMO's to pick from and you found one and stuck with it, now you have PLENTY to choose from and these guys might not know there are a ton of options out there as far as better games. Let's keep in mind too that, some people LOVE this game so much that they ignore any wrong doings (essentially boot-lickers) of the company with the packs, terrible decisions with the "bundles" etc. that any time you make any sort of criticism it's met with, "You're a hater, if you don't like it play something else," all the generic stuff, so you can say these people are "Brain-washed" and too far gone. Then you have the people staying in the game, cause they have serious hope it'll change and they stay to keep the "community" alive (for whatever that's worth) and they try their best to make the game interesting and fun for everyone, which is nice of course. Of course, I couldn't go without mentioning that the rest of us are just complete masochist and nothing else satisfies us more than just going through the immense struggle the game has put us through.
As someone that still loves this game and started way back in the day, wiz is still very unique compared to any other game out there. They do change it a lot over the years but at its core its still a fun game. Even with all the other options of co-op and mmo that exist today wiz still feels different and carries that nostalgia. The monetary changes like battlepass, packs, ect are terrible though and only got worse and worse every year :[
I don't really hold a strong opinion on KingsIsle's behavior. If you don't want to spend money on crowns, don't. The gameplay loop is still the exact same it has been for years, except there's objectively more content. If and/or when I play the game, I play it because it's fun, not because I can/can't buy or grind for this or that crowns item.
@@ziwuri That's perfectly fine too, if you don't really have any problems with what the company is doing and you still having a good time with the game then all the more power too you, but for the other people there are some things to keep in mind: 1) I know most people like to say, "If you don't want to spend money just don't" but that's easier said then done. Packs/Loot-boxes etc. are meant to pray on people that are newer to the game, players who don't know any better (mainly kids), and people with addictive tendencies and whales, these people no matter how bad the deal may be they'll still pay to either have that extra advantage, think what they're getting is a really good deal or do it to impress the other people with items that your average person may not be able to get it's really a scummy cycle which leads the company down the path of just throwing out whatever, cause they know someone will buy it. Then you have to think about PvP as well, and if you've played it you know it's very pay-to-win, if you want to stay relevant you need good pets which you need to spend a lot of money on so you're going to need a sub/pay for the areas to make sure you have enough gold at all times to make a good pet on top of that you have to deal with RNG which if you get unlucky you end up getting pressured to finish the pet really early (cause people don't like waiting and for good reason), so you spend money on elixirs which don't sound too bad at first, but eventually it does rack up money wise. Then, you have the other pay-to-win items like "may-cast wands" which are pretty broken giving you extra damage randomly with zero drawbacks (not losing pips etc.), also having to deal with some pet jewels that you can only get if you buy them, so yeah it's pay to win there are some other factors like gear being pay-to-win, but I won't get into all that. 2) I don't think most people are really complaining that much on the game-play loop, however it does get tedious after a while, cause all you're really doing is waiting for everyone to pick a card, once they do, you're just sitting there waiting for the animations, rinse and repeat and while some people may not have problems with this, if you're played other games usually the gameplay is much faster, so when you look at wiz nothing is being sped up, I've had players including myself that, when I came back to the game about a year back I ending up falling asleep while doing quest, cause it was taking so long and I was used to much faster gameplay after retiring. But, overall everyone seems fine with the gameplay loop. 3) And finally the idea of fun is different for everyone, there are people for example in PvP that have fun being able to compete against other players, but can't have that fun, because they don't have the money to keep up with the rest of the meta. The bigger problem here is that overall the game just isn't the same as it used to be back in the day, it was much more fun, PvP was WAY more fun and everyone got included even if you weren't that good and was everyone's end-game content, just for the most part everyone's in agreement that Wizard101's golden age is long behind us, so yeah if you're enjoying the game that's great and that's always good to see, but there are some of us that won't ignore what the company is doing and will call it out if need be.
@@crumblingsanity6455 On the points you made about PVP, I haven't really gotten into it myself but I've watched a lot of content on it and I know a thing or two about pet making and farming. To me, it seems completely doable to sustain one max level wizard with all the meta gear, spells and a suitable pet with just a membership as long as you know what you're doing. For example, afaik Ferric's storm that he's currently pvp-ing on was prepared with basically only a membership (although he does put a lot of sheer gameplay hours into the game).

If you got 6 months of wiz monthly membership for 60 bucks, and let's say you played for *only* an hour per day on average (some days more, some days less), you would still get a little over 180 hours of content, and depending on your skill and knowledge level in the game, you would probably still not be done with the main storyline by that point.
