- We decided that it was time to build the horse feeder but we didn't have much time to spare. We gathered up whatever materials we had on hand and got to work. All in all, it came out great! We're happy that we can check this job off the list.
Please leave a comment, thumbs up the video, and don't forget to subscribe if you enjoy our videos! Thank you! 🧡
Great use of materials on hand !!!! Well done.
Awesome build - you are too hard on yourself, Doug!
"Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and make it up as you go" Exactly 😅👍 Love it!
Good for you Doug, gettin out of your comfort zone to “good enough”...BIG STEP. Ashley’s beautiful choice of words to encourage you-“It’s rustic” were perfect.
PS maybe as the weather warms you can take a ride around and do a little trash picking find stuff that can be re-purposed to help in your climb. Why buy when someone else don’t want it anymore! You two are very smart you can make something work! Hugs from and 84 yr old who’s been where you are and done what your doing!
That old wood would make a nice little tack room or tack closet or tack cabinet in the barn for Ashley. Have a good day.
Sometimes I want to give you the " if it was my place" comment, so please forgive me for it. The more I see of your place, the more I like it.
Doug, it looks great, it's functional and you're not feeding the Pope, they"re a donkey and a pony! They will love it!
Sometime close is just ok! As time goes on things will get changed. Worry about it later! Your doing yourselves proud. Keep it up Thank you for the great video! Love you two. Keep being happy! Family and love is really all that counts in life.
I love that you were able to re-use the boards from the old coop house. Doug, you are so good at on-the-spot projects. Ashley, you are the perfect compliment to Doug's need for perfection on these things! 'Spit and shine' rustic and repurposed are better than brand new on 99% of farm/homestead projects. Save your $$ for where it absolutely must be spent. Looking forward to seeing the children outside enjoying your new home place. Love your little family! Hugs from Fort Payne, Alabama.
I like your box! It's okay to be a perfectionist, Doug. You do excellent work!
Its so sweet to reuse from other stuff . you both inspire me to find myself a place and raise my own food and animals. God bless you BOTH
Nice hay feeder. would be a great raised garden bed also
I love the rustic look , good job . Tundra has such kind eyes . The kids are getting so tall .
I'm with Ashley, rustic rules! Great job Doug
I love the relationship you 2 have! Imho it is so sweet the way you always glance at each other when you're talking to us. Just had to mention that!! :)
Take care and God Bless. I couldn't help but giggle when you said it was done, then, grabbed your tape measure and started measuring again.
Tundra is quite the character. She seems very intelligent and definitely a leader more than a follower.
Great repurposing👍👍👍
love they way it looks too. raised beds, flower boxes, benches. oh the things you could make from that chicken coop!
It looks great. The possibilities for that box are endless. Even if they drilled two holes in each end and tied rope through to make handles. It's rustic and geourgous.
I agree with Ashley, I love the more rustic natural look! I would even use it for a coffee table! Or to hold magazines on a smaller scale ! Great job...
A very eco friendly project. Waste not, want not.
Stay with precision - it serves you and your family well - I have thoroughly enjoyed watching y'all make magic!
I like the re-use of boards to make this feeder. Good job. Good to know they like it. If you like precision woodworking, watch Unemployed Redneck Hillbilly Creations, he's a retired engineer who makes furniture out of trees he's cut down on his own property, and does beautiful work. Quite an accomplished man, in spite of the title of the channel, which is a joke between him and his wife. He also has a great garden and they do canning videos too. Nice to see Tundra still does photobombs!
Hi Doug and Ashley I want to say that Maverick is getting so big what a cutie!! Doug you did a great job on the feeder I love it. I would love to have it for many uses. Great job! Ashley I like the rustic idea you said too. I can't wait to see some of the idea's you come up with for inside your home Ashley I see you as a crafty lady and so much more. You are one amazing lady. Hard worker don't see that much any more. I am sure we will see more of your creative side as you both work on your home. I so enjoy your channel I look everyday to see what you post very day. You guys are the best! What a beautiful couple beautiful family!!❤
It looks really great! I'm glad you take into consideration how it affects Beau and Tundra. Can't wait to see what's next!💖💖
The feeder looks great!!❤❤ Thanks for sharing🤗 so glad to hear you wore a mask getting rid of the installation. 😊
Oh, I've been cringing whenever I see them eating off the dirt! Thanks for the box!
I'm ready for my close up, Mr. De Mille!
Feeder is really nice! You probably already know, you'll notice if the corner location lets one of your equines, probably Tundra, keep the other away from the feeder. If that happens, locating it in the middle of the wall should fix that...
The animals won't care if it's rustic. LOL I was amazed at your thought and design regarding the feeder. What an engineering mind you have. (Vision :-)
Good job Doug...I know exactly how you feel about construction ...I have learned to be a little less picky on the stuff that isn't quite so important....and safe all my OCD for projects in and around the home...Loved watching your on the fly hay feeder and sat here thinking how i could incorporate something like that in my garden lol
I love your ingenuity and I don't think the horse trough police are going to arrest you for imperfection. With what you had to work with, it looks great. God bless.👍😀
Another good job done inexpensively. Great to see some earth beginning to appear too.
Lol, tundra gave us a great view of her eye, nose, just all of her face! So cute! Nice feeder!
NOW did you ASK the pony and the MULE ABOUT THE BOX LOL LOOKS GOOD
To me, the feeding box looks good enough to sell! I enjoy rustic. I love Jeff's style of building as well. Everybody just has to do what is comfortable for them. Tundra's and Beau's home is getting nicer and cozier all the time. Great video! It was neat seeing the interior of their home in the twilight. Thank you for all your nice videos. !
wear it out use it up. Great job on the feeder.
Y’all are so smart. 🙏❤️🙏👍
wow! very nice job. It looks perfect. thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day
Love how you repurpose what you have!! Great job!!
I just started watching u guys . And I use to live on a farm and seeing u guys doing ur videos makes me realize that if u put ur mind to anything u can do it. I am so interested in living in the farm life again . But to buy a place is so expensive. Especially in Illinois.. But watching u guys give hope thank you
That feeder looks amazing....remember your using warped and old wood but LOOK what you created...that's perfection!
Well done you two. Using wood from the property, great idea, and it looks like the perfect size to feed the horse and the mule.
We are building our retirement home, just got the footings finished for the foundation. By building our homes ourselves, (we do sub-contract plumbing, electrical and sheet rock) this will be our third home and we'll be mortgage free! I love your go with the flow attitude! Things go so much smoother when you don't sweat the small stuff. My husband ( We've been married 44 years this year) is a machinist, so everything he makes out of metal or wood is always perfect. However, occasionally I convince him to see the beauty of imperfection, and the practicality of it as well.
I really enjoy watching your channel. You are so grounded and relatable. All the ❤️and 🍀 in the world to you dear ones!
I know what you mean, Doug, about throwing something together quickly. I watch a lot of art channels and some of my favorites have a very loose almost sloppy style which I love, they always come out with cool paintings in the end. I try to do it that way and it is just too much work for me! I want everything matchy matchy and symmetrical so although I love their style I just can't do it.
Your feeder looks great, you're never going to learn if you don't try. God Bless you two!
I promise you, those critters won't know the difference. Your build is just fine. Save your brain power perfectionism for when it matters.
Great job: as long as Tundra doesn't chase Beau off his feed. Nice recycling job too👍
You two did a great job on the hay feeder.
Great job👍👍
Great reuse of materials. I am sure that the hay will taste great to Tundra and Beau.
Great team effort and I think the ground feeder was the right decision.
lol ... "I don't know Ash .... I'm just making it up" ... such honesty ... love watching your projects :) xo
Good job on the feeder! Fun to watch you build it! I laughed! Get over here your not supposed to leave to the animals!
Tundra was ready for her closeup!
Great job on the feeder, Doug. Your snow is melting well.
Great job repurposing your coop. I’m enjoying watching your journey.
Great build, we love watching Jeff too, tnanks to you guys, we found him thru your channel when you visited him, hes the best. Like your videos we cant wait for the next one. Hes has come so far with his property and chickens and the cats, in this last year, we are so excited to see what the future holds for both of you ,
Love rough cut wood projects ,you did a great job on it👍😆...
Doug..you are always a perfectionist..it is good for you to loosen up
I think he just wants to make sure it's built right to their liking and will look good.
Doug you did an awesome job making the feeder.
It looks so good ! That Tundra is the Star of the show 😊
So fun!!! Projects are coming along 👏👏👏👏👏👍😍
Fantastic job on that!
You did a great job getting it together for not having much time to get it done. I am a bit of a perfectionist myself so I understand the dissatisfaction but you need to consider its purpose and placement - Ashley is right, it looks rustic and that's how it should look for being in a barn.
Awesome job on the feeder box..
Great work as usual. You all are in our prayers.
It was a lovely build. Learn to let go & enjoy it.. your there! They'd been waiting to go explore & smell everything over in that other section of the barn! There are probably other places on your property that they stare at & daydream about checking out the smells too!
Totally awesome take what u have by cleaning up one part of y'all's land and make y'all's horse's fender, Thanks for sharein 🐎🐴
The feeder looks cool, I think it's neat to use old lumber to build with, especially something like this!
I hate to generalize that it is just a box for feed, but it is just a box for feed.
The admirable part is that you used what you had and will be perfect for what you intended.
🕊💚
The best part of my day - a New Video !!! ❤️😁
Doug, you did a great job ! And Ashley ‘s encouragement is wonderful!
Can’t wait to see it in the daylight !
Can we see more of the kids soon ? “ Little Man “ is growing up so fast !! 😘
Thats very similar to one my grandparents had, except my grandpa made channel like pieces on the ends, maybe 1×2" pieces, so the ends could be raised up for cleaning. That was one of my chores, raising those end boards & sweeping it out. Ahh, good memories! Good job y'all ☺
Great job guys! Loved the horse shots in there two. 😀
If the wife is happy with it....its good. You don't always have to be a perfectionist, my kids tell me that all the time🤗
You did a great job in my book !!! Love what your doing and I do enjoy your videos !! Best wishes on all you do !
We used to say, when doing something like that, "It's not furniture." There's a time for perfection and a time to just giterdun. This was a giterdun moment... and you did great. The main thing is that the animals can reach their feed, and that the feed is kept clean. I think it looks great. One thing I'm impressed by is your ability to work out how to plan the pieces, and put it together. Good work.
Good Morning Doug & Ashley, great job with your feeder.I so enjoy your video’s.I love how resourceful you are.Tundra & Beau are so very lucky to have a home with your kind family.Take care & have a wonderful day!! 😊
Great job on the feeder! You now can check that job off the list.. you two are so good at making practical lists that you can cross things off on as you do t hem. You get a lot accomplished that way. I remain impressed! Fun to see the kids, your little guy is getting taller!
Good job folks! Have a great day..and thanks for great content!
Great job on re using what you have. #zerowaste
Tundra is ready for her close up! Smile pretty girl! Thanks for sharing!
Great job! Yes Miss Tundra likes to be in the spot light!!
You are a perfectionist Doug but thats a good thing, everything you make is long lasting, durable and practical.
I'm always glad to see an upcycling project...looks good to me!
Thumbs up !!! Just like kids. Curious what the other side looks like. Lol.
Looks great for what it’s intended! 👌🏻
The feeder is perfect, great job, love it. 👍👍
You have to get a small lawn tractor and trailer , saves an awful lot of lifting and carrying . Makes sense . Keep up the good work .
it looks great the animals will love there food off the ground
I love how Humble you both are.
Yes exactly! Rustic! I love it.
You are so handy i watched all the work you two did on your old place and can't wate to see all you do on ypur forever home. Love ypur videos keep them coming.
I think like Ashley, it looks good and rustic looking. Perfect for a barn. Great job.
Doug don't worry about it being square. When tundra realizes it's good to scratch her fanny on, it won't stay square anyway!
Awesome guys.... You'll make great Michiganders. 😀
I agree with Ashley. I like the rustic aspect. So in a way, it is perfect. You did good. :)
Thanks for the video. Really great job!😊😊😊😊
Well thought out and grounded in need. Can't get any better than that,
i loved your close up selfie tundra lol
We also hang big slow feeder bags, that hold a hole bale of hay. We put them over the tub feed to catch any dropping s.
Tundra is a camera hog! Good job on the feeder box, guys! It's not a piano, Doug! Lol! You just have to learn how to say ``good enough", Doug. Keep up the great vids, guys! Stay safe, hugs to the little ones!
Love the close ups of Tundra 😜
