- Highlights of the hard punching former WBA Heavyweight world champion. The Heavyweight Hercules!

Mike Weaver - Is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1972 to 2000, and held the WBA heavyweight title from 1980 to 1982. In March 1980, Weaver fought John Tate for the WBA title, in Tate's backyard of Knoxville, Tennessee. Tate was an amateur star from the 1976 Olympic team. Weaver vs. Tate produced one of the divisions finest knockouts ever. The taller Tate dominated Weaver for all the first 10 rounds. But then with sheer determination a battered Weaver suddenly turned it around, pushing Tate backward. But he'd left it too late, according to the commentators, as only 5 rounds remained and Tate was expected to resume his lead. However, with only 40 seconds left in the 15th round, Weaver caught Tate bouncing off the ropes towards him with a devastating left hook.

One of the hardest punchers of the late 70's / early 80's! Mike Weaver had a career that spanned nearly 30 years and in 1980 he produced one of the best come from behind knockouts in boxing history when he hit John Tate with a devastating left hook to win the WBA Heavyweight title. An all out exciting fighter and one of my last videos of 2022, enjoy! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

That loss haunted Tate for a long time.
His comeback against John Tate was unbelievable what a punch and what a win
Another "what if". One night you'd get one of the most relentless, hard punching machines ready to go to war for 15 rounds, other nights you'd get an unmotivated gatekeeper who'd only high guard
Just like Michael Johnson in the ufc
we should paid boxers after they retire :D
Nice tribute. Weaver was a no-nonsense fighter, built like a bodybuilder (like Norton and Holyfield), and smart outside the ring. Got a raw deal in that first Dokes fight, unfortunately. Thanks for this!
Mike weaver was a personal favorite of mine growing up. Thank you very much for this upload.
Happy birthday uncle Mike I love you and thanks for always being there for me enjoy your day my hero.🎉🎉🎉
Love Mike weaver! Great upload as always brother!🤩💪
I admired Mike Weaver and he fought like Matthew Saad Muhammad who made a rally in the fight to win. Even his comeback to win the WBA Heavyweight Title from John Tate was memorable.
When I see these highlights, I see warrior Weaver🥊‼️
You always drop Great boxing content
Crazy left hook
When Mike Weaver was fighting the question for me was ...Will the real Mike Weaver please stand up? Weaver would get beat and sometimes stopped by c and even d grade boxers but then would turn around and beat or raise royal hell with top ten contenders or even champions.
This type of fighter is so sad 😭 so much potential but loses to nobodies
Yup he got beat by the best 😂
Razor Ruddock, Lennox, Bonecrusher Smith, Pinky Thomas etc
@@rufioswitch2132He gave Larry Holmes big problems when he was on the come up!
Still here supporting, years later. Mucho respect to the main man haNZA. Bless. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✝️
Man that bodywork was vicious
🤣 at his forward roll celebration.. know your limitations haha
Underrated
Keep it up man almost 100k.
LOL i never heard of this guy, thank you hanza
This dude is a ox
Weaver could have accomplished much more if he was motivated. Great video as always.
My uncle till this day is making moves
Nice to see Mike Weaver on your chanel.I hope next will be Frank Bruno.
Holmes call it when he said Weaver would be a Champ
Weaver was a specimen
🙂 I can See Why They Call Him Hercules 💪🏿🦁💪🏿
Hard man, US Marine then later Heavyweight Champ, like Gene Tunney and Ken Norton before him.
You need to do one on junior witter former wbc world champion great fighter from the famous ingle gym
A a better looking body in the HW division you won't find. He could be a sculpture and he had the skills.
Jeez…
Please make one on Joshua clottey
It's a shame his record was 44-17 but he was underated but he was a good fighter
41-18-1
@@hanzagod oh my apologies I got mixed with bonecrusher Smith's record
Il y a tellement de Foreman en lui
Flattened Tatet
Wilder in this era wouldn’t make the top 20
Wilder has a chance against anyone with his punching power
There’s always some guy that has to hate on wilder no matter what the video is about. Wilder with his heart and power has a chance in ANY era. Having the power to hurt any man on earth always gives you a chance.
Skill wise , he almost doesn’t survive the 90s haha HOWEVER punching power is not a great equalizer but the great dominant change
Agreed.
Don't just hate on Wilder. Fury, Joshua and most current heavyweights wouldn't be top 20 in this era either.
