Megaman DOS: Dyna Man

- Hello, I'm back!
I've been pretty fascinated by the really obscure Megaman titles for some time. In particular, the two Megaman games released for DOS (MM1 and MM3.) The games had their own unique roster, but were very flawed. As a hobby project, I've been making mockups of a game that would unify the two games into one, initially using NES restrictions. I've been doing this long enough that the re-designs have become the recognized look for the game in many circles and have spawned several spinoff projects from third parties.
Looking at my old mockups though, I always felt like I could do a lot more if I wasn't limiting myself to having it run on NES hardware. So I've reworked the entire setting from scratch without limitations. This is the result.
I've aimed at a resolution somewhere between an SNES and PSX. A Wide-SNES. Sound effects are based in MM and R&Fs compressed samples.
Because some of the original game's boss names have now been taken by official robot masters, the current roster is:
Bit Man
Knife man (Blade Man)
Buoy Man (Wave man)
Sonic Man
Volt Man
Weld Man (Torch Man)
Dyna Man
Shark Man
Fuel Man (Oil Man) (Secret boss due to odd number of bosses)

@@c7po457 There are some games, but they're indev, and aint gonna be like this, theyre going for classic 8-bit visuals, which is sad, i love the MM8-esque style.
@@c7po457 Trust me, you're better off that way. First of all, they're not made by Capcom nor Capcom had any creative control, secondly they control like donkey's diarrhea.

@@UltimatePerfection Haha! I've seen the gameplay and heard all the stories. Controls look atrocious, but if someone remade them in sure they'd be fun to play and experience.
My gosh, I could only wish an official game looked as amazing as this.
Yeah. Megaman doesn’t look all that great in 3D
I think Mega Man 11 looks amazing and I respect the attempt to move forwards with 3D tech, but I would be lying if I said this pixel art isn't gorgeous
@@nwcr_ you know, I kind of forgot Megaman 11 exists. Yeah, it does look good! My personal bias is sprites though. I love some amazing sprite work
@@Kirainian_Gaming Same for me, I'm also a massive pixel art fan! I just want people to respect the developers at Capcom, we don't know everything behind the scenes after all.
@@nwcr_ that is true. Most people don’t see even 90% of game development, or the stress that comes with it.
It's a dang shame this isn't a game. It could've been the MMX Corrupted for the classic series

Unlike the X series, classic Mega Man has a lot more fan games, including ones with new graphical styles like Mega Man Perfect Blue, Shattered Diamond, and Mega Man Slide, so there is no such thing as "MMX Corrupted for the classic series", and if there was, it definitely wouldn't be this game.
@BrutalGoober It's one of the only MMX games that haven't been cancelled. Although it won't probably be released in years

Why aren't there games that look like this
Because "3D is cool and 2D not", sometime you only need a good pixel art and not a cheap 3d, but companies don't think that. (Well, probably 3D graphic is cheaper than 2D graphic too)
Cause people don’t understand that artstyle trumps technical realism everyday.

It's impressive how thirty seconds of a fan-made with passion and love, get me more hyped than many official announcements. Hope you to change idea about turning that in a playable game, or in a totally new and original one, but using this concept ❤️ Maybe a KickStarter campaign?
He could, but that would be he'd have to completely ditch the mega man concept & rework the game into something original.

Takes me back to the days of going to the rental store, picking up the latest MegaMan on a Friday evening, then grinding all weekend to beat it

It's funny, a few Summers ago I was thinking those quirky old DOS Mega Man games deserved an homage via a little passion project game, but this... This goes above and beyond, mate ! This project has its own soul, you clearly need to start your own IP !

I'm still in awe of this video after being introduced to it through a Google news thumbnail a week or two ago. This goes to show that (how many pixel bits is this video showing?) retro games can still look great in 480p if the pixels aren't stretched due to the wrong screen resolution, screen aspect ratio and if we have the right accessories that help support the games so they look there best. I keep saying this often but talented programmers like this channel's creator are obviously going places yet its strange that they aren't picked up by big companies. I know a lot of these personal projects from game programers on UA-cam are pet projects or them showing off their programming chops but you gotta admit that it's breathtaking when one person or a small amount of ppl working on a personal project or game can show such potential. I mean there's this, owl boy, cave story, and that's only a few, I'm sure there's far more than that but I'm sure you get the point. I may have started the megaman franchise on X as a child and finished very little original megaman games compared to the side stories but this would definitely be dream to play since so much effort, passion, love for the franchise itself was put into this short video! Your awesome man! Keep up the amazing work! 👏👍
