Zosi Technology have improved and an incredible way ...new products have been updated lately making zosi products really competitive with any other Brands ... Excellent prices and availability .. I have my 1080p 8 channel 2MP Cameras for over a year now and Im more than happy .. remote view is insane ( never seen such a beautiful pictures is just mind-blowing).. thank you zosi for put all this technology together for us and more important the price .....
My model is older, but I do like the product and the cameras and system have been very reliable.

Worked almost exactly as you said. Almost. After renaming the config.dat file to .old (I just did the same as you), I entered and then rebooted. The zosi came up as normal, login was admin as it should be, BUT, password was not admin. It was nothing. I mean you enter nothing as password, leave it blank and login. If I knew telnet was auto engaged in the zosi, I could have solved this 3 months ago. Used telnet for many years. I like the putty app though. Thanks for the assist. I subscribed to your channel.

Glad it helped Cabo Tek. I like the solution, but do not endorse, work or support the company (Zosi) that makes it. I just figured out how to bypass the ridiculous reset that does next to nothing IMHO.

I have zosi H. 264 it's not connected to a network as its new but after electricity cut out and system restarted it states invalid password when I know a billion percent my password is there a way to fix this without connect to WiFi or have I been hit with a dodgy box.

Hey can someone tell me how to use NMAP to find the correct IP Address for my ZOSI DVR System. I keep getting the error message when trying to connect with PUTTY and I want to think I have the correct IP Address but I really need some help please.
Iv just got one of those and the default password is not with it (brand new) just set it up can’t got any further leaving it blank doesn’t work... wtf
I have a zosi dvr but after trying to upgrade the firmware for the dvr, the dvr is now stuck in the zosi flash screen loop, do you know how to solve this issue?

go to zosi support site. look for downloads then spd. download to android then enter or scan serial. it will give admin password. worked for me.
When my scan report finished I had only 1 port open and it was TCP port 49152 - uggg any ideas. This is driving me nuts not being able to configure this device
That is odd. I had not run in to this issue before and can say that outside of remote access using SSH(22) I had no success resetting my device. I would reach out to support to see if they can assist. Sorry I am not more help than that.
h.264 is not a model number >it is a block-oriented motion-compensation-based video compression standard. As of 2014 it is one of the most commonly used formats for the recording, compression, and distribution of video content.

I have the same problem with the password. I did the steps in this video but I always get the "Network error: Connection refused". I am sure the IP adress is correct. Can you help me?
Techiezilla, thanks for the steps. My hopes were HIGH, but they did not work. I have my Zosi plugged into a router, so I logged into it to get the IP Address. It was listed as "active" (192.168.1.4). Using KiTTY (or PuTTY), I get the black window, but nothing for a few sections. The green cursor blinks and then finally pops up a small window stating - "Network error: Connection timed out." I even tried the "SPD" application to get a super password. Again, no joy. I am frustrated. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sorry it did not work right off.
1. I would first suggest you try to do a ping IP 192.168.1.4 to verify you are getting ICMP replies from the computer you tried to connect from.
2. Next I would try a simple traceroute (tracert) and verify you can see a clear path in hops from your computer to the Zosi.
If all this comes back correct then I would think the likely issue is the port for SSH(22) or Telnet(23) are being blocked. The likely reason for this would be your router having filters in place restricting them. Do you happen to have another network device you can try outside of your router? The reason I am asking ,though unlikely, a router is capable of restricting traffic by many methods including ports. If it is restricting port access that would explain why the "connection timed out". Depending on what you have available you could even directly connect to the device with your computer by using a crossover cable if you do not have switch or a hub. This old school cable simply swaps two pairs (orange-white and green-white) allowing for you to do a direct connect from one network adaptor to another.

This is likely a shot in the dark since there are many reasons for a connection timed out, but that would be my first guess if steps one and two came back fine.

@@techiezilla4012 I kinda have the same problem. My port 23 for Telnet is filtered and I get that same message. Is connecting my zosi zr04jb(actual model) directly to my PC really able to bypass the port filter? Is there a chance that's some internal firewall or something? I obviously don't know what I'm talking about but I've gotten this far and would really like to get into this thing with puTTY
It's possible to reset the new models using the SPD App (Mine worked that way).
This is the DVR I had installed last wk. 10-18-17 but do not how to 'use' it. I cannot 'playback' and the installer said he didn't make any password since it's not combined with a smart phone. It is hooked up to my TV only. OMG and he quit returning my calls after 2 days....so much for the 2 yr. warranty. OMG

Still, im waiting to know if this works for the 265 version.? Everything work perfect. Plugged it in, as soon as i plugged in a camera it came up. All.... not untill i scanned the qr code for onlind access then lost everything. Bought a sdcond 350$ set, plugged it in, nothing. It really messed my conectio3up
I do not know anything about the 265 version and not sure why using the QR code would make it stop working. Had you contacted support?
Cameras will not connect wireless. Bought a second 8 channel kit yes 300 plus.. thought this one would work, nope.. network not found. Ever since i scanned the qr with app my cameras wont connect

Forget THIS... I just want to know what the screens mean and HOW to playback. why. 2 days after installation I found my back door wide open....I tried to re-play back a day to see why my back door was open wide.... unable to do this.. Thus this equipment useless for me if I cannot play back.????

No I did not! It obviously didn't record that OR I just could'nt get back to that point (in same day). Dorn Zurawski - owner of Video One AV - has YET to return my calls or assist me in any way. I believe he knew it was a 'defective' DVR since he stated in the morning of & BEFORE the 'back door wide open' incident ..that he was going to bring over another DVR that records for 2mos. Haven't seen or heard from him since he made that statement.....I left my home, returned to find my back door wide open - same day . STILL don't know how that happened or by whom. So much for my surveillance. I do know that it does record somethings. I am sometimes able to go back to MN of same day.....to observe. That's it. But on this day I couldn't even go back few hours??? :-(
I also went to local video installation store & I told them I found a 'disc' in my trash can & retrieved it. He said no wonder it does not work since Dorn Zurawski did not "download' it..... I think that's what he said. ALSO a screen appeared on my TV stating: "No data or disc" - available. I guess that says it all. OMG

Try in ng tomorrow, hope it works? Bought a secondary syster to try. It still will not find cameras. H 265 unit. You still havnt responded
Not sure what to tell you. Has it ever found the cameras? If so, what happened/changed since it last worked? The reset will only give you admin access back into the system if you lost it, but if the cameras do not work I have no idea the fix. Sorry I was not more help.
Will this work for 265 version. Everything worked perfect, untill i scanned the qr code to watch from phone app. Now just says network nit found
The app or the DVR? I am not familiar with the 265, but know that the app broke a couple days after I tried it. When I say broke I mean the app stopped working.
My power went off and when my system came back on, all the camera video shows H. 264 Video Loss, Model Number zR08EA any idea how to get back the video signal?
Shirley. I would check you power supply for the cameras. The Video Loss is likely due to the cameras not providing video. If you know for sure the cameras are being powered and not on a power strip that tripped during the power outage than I would try to remove power from your system to force it to start back up. I hope this helps.

Can you elaborate more on the losing of cameras? The system by default should automatically get assigned an IP address from your home router, but your system does not require an IP address to run unless you are using special IP cameras and not the standard cable.
techiezilla is there a way of enable Keyboard Zosi-Over virtual keyboard system?
I have plug in Logitech K400 wireless - Mouse function works but keyboard seem not to?
I honestly do not know. I know when working in the GUI a simple keyboard is available when text fields are focused for input, but I have not had to go any further than that.
my zenmap scan comes back with (Nmap done: 254 IP addresses (0 hosts up) scanned in 102.62 seconds). Am I missing something?

Tahmas if putty is refusing to connect then most likely you have the wrong IP address for your machine. Try rebooting your system by removing the power for about 5 seconds and then try to locate the IP. Other than that it should by default have telnet open. One other thing.. make sure you are selecting port 23 (telnet) when you are trying to connect.
techiezilla i found the right ip and i do select telnet and it automatically switches to port 23 but i still get the same error. Thanks for the help
techiezilla i checkef to which port it was on which was aparantly port 80. When i put it in putty just closes. Is there a way to switch it to 23?
When you open putty you will see and open box labeled "Host Name (or IP address). Once you enter the IP make sure the Port to the right of the IP is 23. You can also select Telnet under the "Connection type:" label.
It is likely that the port is simply not open causing putty to close since there is no port available. you can scan the network for the IP and port and also please keep in mind that if your device is not on the same network the computer you are working from is you will need a route to it and if the device happens to be behind a firewall you may have to open the port up in the firewall. It can become rather silly and complicated as things are added.

Sorry for the delay on reply. Were you able to figure it out? have you checked the cables both the back of the box and the camera?
i also lost my video and was at a loss. i download the manual and went through the settings and set mu resolution (all cameras) to 720p and my video came back. You can try that and see if it works for you.
