Happy 1 year from the original release date folks! Still no game though...
This and Metroid Prime 4 are the only games I'm actively waiting for.
It has been taken out of the Eshop too, even the latest newsletter with releases for 2023 doesn't mention Advance Wars. i think they just cancelled the whole game.

Dang Sturm looks more intimidating than ever, and the voice acting is so cool, I love all the personality in these animations, like Flaks’ co power! Can’t wait for this!

Great for the soundtrack and VA. Also online is the selling point for me. Hoping this will bring more advance wars in the future, new if possible and not only remakes.
Wasn't sold on the idea of a remake until they mentioned the online and map editor. Now, now I see the appeal.
I would also love to see a brand new AW game in the future ... but I also wouldn't mind a Dual Strike & Days of Ruin remake, possibly titled Advance Wars 3+4?

Great that they decided to add voices. Graphics also look much livier along with the character animations that seem to be slightly 3D.

I've been looking forward to this one. The voice acted lines are a nice surprise. I'll have to get used to the graphics, but I think I'll enjoy this.
Yeah - don't hate the graphics - but I would've loved some modern high res pixel art, or something like Octopath's style or something

I would've preferred HD-2D to this cheap-looking 3D, but I'm pretty sure Square holds the rights to that engine. Still, it feels like this and Front Mission's remakes lost some of the original's charm.

Original game? The original was like Famicom wars. The original with the title of Advance Wars was delayed, and Japan got shafted several time with their own series. We got all of the Advance Wars games and they got half until way later lol

My life is now complete. Voice acting was something I was wishing for but wasn't expecting, and we got it. The CO portraits are so expressive too. Sturm somehow looks even cooler, Flak is everything I hoped he'd be, and they acknowledged the airport meme.

Game looks sick, always hated how this series was neglected for so long (days of ruin was great dammit!). If this game does well hopefully it will lead to a resurgence.
Days of ruin gets an awful lot of flack despite being the best game in the series imho.
@@pobels29 Issue for me was the grittier art style. I get that they were going for change but I think the issue was that it lost a lot of charm the originals had. The combat by far was the best but I was never a big fan of the cast nor the art direction by comparison. days of ruin just felt like the edgey cousin that tried to make the series something it wasn't.
@@LordStrell well I'm biased... it was my first advance wars game after all. I liked the grittier art style and story direction. It made it feel like the stakes were high. In comparison the other games feel more kiddie and fun, which is what the series is all about. Days of ruin will always be the black sheep but that's okay! All this talk makes me feel like replaying it actually.

It's dark, but felt solid and never went overboard with the dark theme. Plus, there were some light moments, especially in the hint room that plays out an entire skit.

Pokemon fans were trained to have rock bottom expectations, and thus the Pokemon franchise can get away with not having things like voice acting and game balance.

1:00 Sami looks adorable as always, Grit's lookin' nice, Jess looks... interesting (not used to it yet, but lookin' cool), and this is (imo) by FAR the best Sturm.

As long as they buff the F out of Jess, she was incredibly weak in her first game.
Jess, Colin, Sonja, and Sturm look so good. I can’t wait to see what Lash, Adder, and Hawke look like in this style. Also that sneak preview of Sensei during his Minicannon mission.

Even if it’s not Jake Kaufman composing/arranging things (though it’d be awesome if it was), WayForward’s games haven’t been lacking in the OST department. Plus from what I heard of Andy’s, Nell’s, and Eagle’s themes in the demos, they sound really good, especially with them being dynamic now depending on if you’re on the map, in combat, or for AW1 using a CO Power.
These games were a regular high school jam for me and my buddies. Excited to see it back after last seeing the series.....wow with Days of Ruin so long ago.

It's great! I love that he's slowly becoming a more accomplished voice actor.
I love that they must of take a look at both AW1 sturm and AW2, figured they'd go with the second one, but then was like "You know what he needs? Collars as high as his cap."

JUST LIKE STURM
1:00 This is an image from the Versus Mode, in which usually you have to select a CO for one of the four nations we know and love. We can see the logos of Red/Orange Star, Blue Moon, Green Earth... and the next one would be Yellow Comet but here Sturm has Black Hole's instead... does that mean we can finally select the Black Hole army for the versus?
Or it selects the color based on the CO.

@@linkbluu321 Well in Advance Wars 2 (GBA) when playing the War Room mode, P1's color is based on the CO. So if P1 is Olaf, he would be Blue, while the opponent would be Orange instead of Blue.
At 0:54, P1 is Andy, so he would be Orange. This means P2 as Max would be Blue since Orange has been taken. Providing the remake is using similar rules.
Now that image 1:00 shows this:
P1 = Sami = Orange
P2 = Grit = Blue
P3 = Jess = Green
P4 = Sturm = Black
So since black hasn't been used by P1, P2, or P3, Sturm is set to use his default black color instead of P4 yellow.
Or I maybe looking too deeply into this, and the colors represent the CO's nation. Which means Sturm would be yellow on the map.

I did not realize it was supposed to be out right now. At the same time, I do not know how emotionally prepared I am to play this. It still would have been nice to have it in our hands.

I'm very happy with the subtle improvements WayForward has made since the last trailer. Looking forward to playing both of these games again. Hopefully, it will sell well enough to justify a new entry.

What I also hope to see is another bundle with Advance Wars Dual Strike and Days of Ruin bundled together. Days of Ruin had some amazing music, especially Brenner's theme. These games also deserve a second wind, or should I say a second chance to report for duty.

I still cannot believe this exists! Some people may have their gripes with the graphics and that’s understandable, but I see this as a way of Nintendo testing the waters and seeing if Advance Wars will do well enough to warrant a new game in the series. The CO Power Cutscenes are already very charming and there’s going to be voice acting which I’m also onboard with!
Please consider adding the COs from Advance Wars Dual Strike! 🙏

Grew up on AW from 1 all the way to Days of Ruin.. haven’t played in years and the joy of seeing this on my feed is insane. Best part was making maps and doing the most bizarre things.

I did play the spin-offs, Battalion Wars 1 & 2, a lot, though. They were amazing, and I really hope Nintendo will eventually give them the same treatment!
I'm sure the fanbase for these games is glad to get anything at this point but come on, give them a new game already, it's been over a decade now.
