Funnily enough, it was your series of comics on Awakening that convinced me to give it a try. I was already into Advance Wars so I figured why not give this other strategy game done by the same company a try.

That depends on sales of this game. Also, those are DS games, so they'd have to get creative.
@@googamp32 Honestly, very little mattered about the use of Dual Screens in both games. The gimmick of two maps was only usable in Single Player, and only usable on a handful of campaign sections. Unusable anywhere else, couldn't even run on VS mode or even make custom dual maps. Top screen was mainly the stats and tactical info screen for everything else, basically. Something that would just be the same as these first two games on a single screen. If anything, they can just have a button to toggle between both map views for the single screen version, and it wouldn't be so different.
They’d have to trim the fat on some of the DS’s “gimmicks” in order for it to work

I'm sure they will, just imagine those games with revamped graphics and Days of Ruin having an uncompressed soundtrack. Brenner's theme was just incredible, crunchy, badass goodness!

@@Jonpoo1 I know it's Nintendo heresy, but I've honestly never really cared for F-Zero. My brother got it for me on our SNES when I was a kid and I was excited for a new game, but ended up hating it. I believe there was a GBA one I tried as well and didn't really care for either. Mind you, I was a youngin, so I might feel differently playing a modern one today if they ever make another. Like with the new Metroid Prime Remaster, I would probably be willing to give a GameCube F-Zero remaster a chance.
It also doesn't help the anti-nostalgia for me that the F-Zero level in Mario Kart 8 is one of my least favorite levels.
Lol I think Fire Emblem is also good if you want to play strategic.

@@thecunninlynguist Releasing a game about war invasion literally as a war started in Ukraine would have been in very poor taste. Delaying it was the right call, because human lives are more important to consider than your video games.

Was definitely the right call to delay the game so the war won't overshadow it and to make sure people can just focus on the mess that was going on in Ukraine and all the Russian war crimes

The Switch has only one screen.
@@Unknown_User174 Etrian Odyssey found a way to be ported to the Switch. There are more buttons on the switch controller that could simply be used to switch between the two screens. I'm hoping it's DLC. Or if the game sells well enough, be launched as another double pack with Days or Ruin... which would be interesting to try and combine together.

I hope this game gets the sales it deserves. If you are someone who loves Fire Emblem, but want something more fun in the modern war setting, this game is for you.
It's overpriced and not being released in Japan. Safe to say that sales will be very underwhelming.

@@gamermanzeake Real and it hurts. With all my heart i pray the rumored FE4 Remake is real and that it perfectly captures the heart, difficulty, excellence in narrative and sheer massive scale of the the Jugdral titles, the SNES era of FE.
For the next mainline titles, I can only hope IntSys starts to realise the current era of FE titles (while massively skyrocketed the franchise's popularity) have lost what made the classics such a revered and respected franchise. Just make an incredible SRPG without any of this social stuff and lord please hire better writers and go back to the beautiful art direction of the classics, where artistically the series had it's identity instead of chasing current trends to appeal to those markets.

@@sirmel11 do you mean dual strike? Honestly I'd appreciate a DS DLC with the Cos and a proper multiplayer much more than spent another 60 bucks on an old game, even though I loved the original.
They actually think this game will do well enough they're putting advertising out for it and I LOVE it! Can't wait to actually play this, and if this breathes new life into the series and gives the potential for more games, it'll be AMAZING!
Hopefully someone other than Intelligent Systems takes over development of the series, as the way they're taking Fire Emblem and the priorities they're placing on politics, is not what I want out of Nintendo IPs. I'd go play the useless crap on Sony and Microsoft's systems if that were the case.
@@gamermanzeake I feel like they might if they can find the right studio. They may be testing the waters with this to see if there's enough interest for the series to still be profitable, and if it is they could revive it with another game.
Another brand new game under a new studio would be an interesting move as with Intelligent Systems and Fire Emblem, I doubt they would have interest in keeping AW going for long. They may use two studios to manage the two IPs separately. Maybe a western studio since I believe AW is more popular overseas than Japan. (I had read it was in the past, not sure about today.)

@@chrisx5127 Technically both yes and no. A large part of it is updated graphics but they also added some QoL and new things such as CO voices and improved multiplayer. Something the series never had before was easy MP.

Dude I have been wanting to play this series for almost 2 years now, and it's FINALLY coming out! Thank god Nintendo didn't leave us hanging.
This reminds me of GreatBigWarGame and GLWG a lot, which were probably heavily inspired by the old advanced war games. I have great memories of them though. They were super fun games, so much so it makes me interested in this even if it's more expensive.
GBWG had a big campaign, co-op versus, more interesting map elevation, walls, destroyable stuff, traps, reinforcements, online with chat, custom game mode/options for pvp or pve instant action, and tons of fun units
I hope there’s going to be a Dual Strike DLC to this in the future!

@@GuGus963 AWBW doesn’t have the Dual Strike mechanic, plus Sturm is using his AW1 War Room stats.
I think Dual Strike and Days of Ruin will be their own package. They deserve that, as opposed to being mere DLC.
@@DesertRainReads I doubt it tbh, considering the big shift in tone, gameplay and story from one to the other.
I think it's a lot more likely for AW:DS to either be its own standalone title or to be added to the Reboot Camp as a DLC further down the line and DoR being it's own seperate thing.
DoR has pretty much nothing in common with the first three games (which all are continuations of the previous title), having a completely seperate story, much darker tone, widely different mechanics, characters and units.

I'm so pumped! Just when I thought Nintendo abandoned one of my all-time favorite series, they've come back with a 1-2 punch! Between this and Tears of the Kingdom, my gaming summer is looking really bright.

Can we talk about how good AW music is? A fluid combo of industrial rock and some grunge with black hole co's especially.
I like the Super CO Power theme most of all, but the music is overall good.
I've never played these games before, but since I'm a Fire Emblem fan, I'm sure I'm gonna have a blast playing it!
Oh, you definitely must try it. But beware of the stress it will cause you. Because you know, strategy stuffs.

It's fire emblem without the RPG mechanics basically. It's more focused on strategy

Well, maybe Intelligent Systems SHOULDN'T remaster Thousand Year Door. After 3 terrible Paper Mario games in a row, I don't trust them with the series, anymore. I mean, the generic Toads and ugly white outlines, alone! GAH! I don't even wanna THINK about it!

I freaking loved Advance Wars 2 on GBA! One of the few video games my sister and I could agree on/bond over!

Never got to finish them...? Everyone and their mom has been playing the games on GBA emulators while waiting for the damn thing to get re-re-announced. You definitely had the time to finish them on emulator in the last 15 years, assuming your actual Gameboy was not an option somehow. Mine still works just fine.
@@Tetragramix I actually only played them on emulator, but lost my old saves when I got a new PC so I didn't bother restarting from zero since I also had other games to play.
While I've never finished them myself I've watched a full playthrough of both games since then so I'm looking forward to replaying and finally finishing them thanks to this remake, simple as that!

Ultimately I don't know if they would work on a brand new Advance Wars game. The director of the originals Toru Narihiro has been having too much success with Fire Emblem to divide his attention on the Wars games, and he is rapidly approaching retirement age @ 59/60 years old. But I would certainly welcome a new game.
This makes me glad I bought advanced Wars dual strike (DS Game) on the Wii U eShop before they closed it.

this will be a great game, refined compared to many other turn based strategies and the nostalgia helps; loved playing these on my SP back in the day.
With this and Warside coming out later this year, this is a great year for the genre :)

I would have loved if the trailer at least touched on how battle tactics are scored.
SPEED is kinda easy to guess. each mission has a hidden turn counter that if you are able to complete the mission before it counts down you will score 100 points. Some missions have tricks up their sleeve that make completing the level in one of two ways faster than the other.
POWER is the amount of damage that you cause to your opponent. This is also a hidden threshold customized for each mission. Max 100 points.
TECHNIQUE is kinda obscure, but it boils down to preventing the loss of your units. There are many missions in the game where losing a unit or two is not penalized. But generally speaking maintaining your units, by combining damaged units is key to keeping this value high. Max 100 points.
RANK is determined by the combined score, with S being the best score possible. On your first play through of the game focus on simply winning. But extra rewards are in order for those who master the campaign with all A rank and all S rank scores in easy mode and hard.
One of the things Im definately going to be doing is a indef guide of the changes in designs. Along with Gold Comet(I have to correct myself often lol) infantry sporting a helmet and a smg style weapon over a cap and rifle, the BLack Hole infantry seem to have traded out their arm gun for a actual rifle, with their eyes more visible behind the glass.
I am surprised they would make Black Hole look less alien.

@@gamermanzeake Honestly, they did a bad job at keeping the art style. It´s not cartoony, it just feels like a cheap mobile game you see every day.
Which is really disappointing as a fan since the beginning. It feels quite soulless. They did an amazing job with the 2d artworks, but the main core gameplay looks replaceable.
I did preorder this game back in 2021 (which I usually don´t do), but just for pure nostalgia and love for the game (and also in the hope for maybe a new Advance Wars one day...).
I mean, it´s still Advance Wars 1 and 2. They are great strategy games, but I feel like they had so much potential and managed so poorly.
The biggest fans are usually also the biggest critics, but not ingrating, just disappointed of missed opportunities for their loved games.
It's not really the same style, though, it's actually 3 different styles: Bland 3D models for the battle animations, little diorama models for the map, and cartoon-style CO characters that animate oddly. It's recognizeble, but it comes across as a bit cheap and definitely isn't as nice as either quality pixel art or the treatment that Fire Emblem has gotten.

My sister and I found her husband’s GBA with Advance Wars. No backlight, but the screen still looked pretty good.
Eagerly waiting for my copy to ship and arrive so I can enjoy these classics on Switch!

Buying digital day one! One of my most anticipated games on the Switch. Still play roms of the old ones and I had the original on the Gameboy Advance. Contrary to popular opinion I really like the fresh graphics and I just hope we get some future DLC to add some new content. Fingers crossed they give us a couple new units at least. Maybe even a new CO or two in the future.
It's a small thing, but I like the changes to the map editor. In the original, you only had full-size maps. I liked smaller maps most of the time and could only make them by surrounding everything in water. It felt off with the game already having smaller maps.
I wonder if the delay gave them alot more time to polish this game? If so then that would be cool. Less bugs to worry about,
