There’s just so much progression right after Plantera with stuff like the terrablade, razor pine, razorblade typhoon, and other drops because there are 4 events in this progression spike and 3 bosses (golem, Empress of light, and Duke fishron) that most things get outclassed
The thing that gets me is that it'd be SO easy to fix. Just make Duke Fishron and/or EoL required, and just scale the weapons and bosses accordingly. It'd stretch out the gap between Plantera and Lunatic Cultist a fair bit, making the latter quarter of the game far less of a boss rush, and allow for the million mid-late-game weapons to be spread out and actually be relevant again.
I've always absolutely loved this weapon and actively farm for it, especially for events and underground exploration, absolutely rips through everything
Could you cover both the Golden Shower and the Tome of Cursed Flames, and compare both in DPS, pierce tests and single/group capabilities, to determine which is overall better support?
Cursed Flames hit hard, don't be fooled by the debuff to think It is only support. At that time It is probably main damage dealer. Golden shower, on the other hand, can be usefull as a damage dealer early (for those that are like me and are lazy to change weapons mid combat), but is mostly a debuff weapon. That makes it more usefull for a longer period.
I've always used this in any build I end up going, as the flat, consistent damage is HIGH if used right. They recently added a bounce to it, so instead of destroying itself on contact with any surface, it will instead bounce slowly. This makes post Plantera dungeon farming, as well as any event with small trash mobs like Pirate Invasion, easy to tackle. I used to use Magnet Sphere alongside Spectre armor for healing benefits, but it's a hard sacrifice of survivability when used improperly or against faster enemies/bosses. Still a shredder though
In 1.2 ,I used to love this weapon against the pumpkin or frost moon because the spectre armor healing back then doesn't nerd damage. It's basically the go to cheese strat
just something i have continually noticed with your event farm, with which i used as major inspiration with my own, just a little tip is i usually hammer the conveyer belts so that blocks such as the snow from the frost legion or gravestones do not place, and remain items or in a gravestone's place, just don't place on the ground and summon the ghost immediately. Just thought i would mention it, I love your videos and keep up the good work!
I always go for Magnet Sphere in mage playthroughs. I'll usually pick one up passively while farming for the three mage staves, because apparently I'm way luckier than sockrteez.
I actually used the magnet sphere during my master mode mage run! It is definitely very good, but not nearly as good as just continuing to use the razorblade typhoon I got earlier...
I wish i had seen this when it came out. Back when the specter armor was just huge mage buffs + healing on xbox 360 i used the magnet sphere to solo all the mech bosses, plantera, and golem (maybe also ocram i forget) all at the same time. This was also before expert mode was a thing, plus specter armor on launch was the most broken thing in thw world, but i still have fond memories of killing all 5-6 end game bosses with it.
Magnet sphere was a lot better in older updates. It shot lasers so fast that when paired with a specter hood you could tank any boss. It didn’t bounce off walls though
For all of those you don’t know, the labor of love update seems to have buffed the range and duration of the weapon, as well as giving it the ability to bounce off walls (it used to faze away when hitting a wall). I’ve been using this weapon since Plantera was added to the game so I’m very happy about this
The magnet sphere's use case was always hot swapping to it to throw out a projectile and switch back, all taking place in or under a second It only suffers as a weapon depending on how slow you are to fire it once, as it has absurd output for such little investment. Even if it has 'poor performance' it's practically a free boost in dps
the magnet sphere is a life saver during a pre-golem pumpkin moon, I happened to drop one while farming ectoplasm for spectre set, and used it to great effect in combination with my spirit flame, in order to get through the earlier waves of the moon faster to get the bat sceptre. 7/10, dont farm for it, but awesome if you get it.
Only problem I have with the magic missile is that you can get the Flamelash so soon after, but I do love these weapons so much and I love that there are multiple upgrades so you can keep using a similar weapon for a decent amount of time. They feel so cool to use after the 1.4 update.
@@Twyzan You are absolutely right! The Flamelash has lower damage but can hit the enemy twice which technically means it does more damage, but I only recently noticed that the magic missile has a decently-sized Area of Effect explosion making it easy to take out lines of enemies.
@@Twyzan The Flamelash is far worse in comparison to the Magic Missle. Costing more mana, doing less damage, and getting sabotaged by water and honey. The ability to hit twice in the event that the projectile doesn't hit a block after flying into an enemy is far from being a redeeming quality most of the time.
I just drop a rain cloud at the front and rear of my little villages where tanky enemies will get stuck. With spectre armor with the hood, it’s constant healing for myself and my allies. Extremely useful for events
I just always use nimbus rod because I always get it for destroyer and keep it till moon lord. Minions and sentries are way easier to get and are more reliable. Since the magnet sphere is annoying to get, I would just stick with sentries bought with defender metals.
Suggestion: to make the homing weapons, summon weapons, and weapons that only go for actual enemies work on dummies, make a super dummy. You can place a lot at a time, and homing weapons will home, while sentry weapons (including the magnet sphere) and summon weapons will attack it, allowing you to test their dps. I always make it since it helps with the issues that regular dummies have.
I'm glad they buffed the magnet sphere. When they changed the hardmode dungeon to be post-plantera most of the weapons didn't really feel worth farming for anymore, since you can generally just rush through the rest of the game at that point.
I've done a spell-book-only playthrough and had a blast. Although the book wasn't good for bosses, I still picked it up anyways and got every book possible!
dude it took you that long to get the magnet sphere? That's insane! It usually takes me around 15 - 25 mins of just randomly killing dungeon enemies and it suddenly drops.
I swear every time I grind the dungeon for even 20 minutes I end up with 10 of these things. It's the weapon you try once to see what happens, fail to understand its utility, and promptly forget about.
This is why I ignored it on my Legendary Mode Run even when I got it twice before the Morning Star. I always main Summoner in my playthroughs when I want to do anything seriously, and combining a large array of weaponry and strengthening them, increasing their count, and just watching them work is interesting to me, but the Magnet Sphere is just infuriating to replenish every 10 seconds when I could be using the Dark Harvest or Kaleidoscope for more DPS, so I ignore it.
1:35, same, i was grinding for a morning star, and so i litterally got: 2 palladins hammers 4 keybrands 2 palladins shields 6+ BBQ ribs 1 tactical shotgun 2 'wisp in a bottle's 1 sniper rifle 4 rocket launchers 2 shadowbeam staves 1 spectre staff 1 magnet sphere 1 inferno fork 3 tabis 2 black belts ≈ 200 ectoplasm (equal to 6 spectre armor sets with both helmets) 1 bone feather 2 adhesive bandages 1 swat helmet 2 armor polishes 1 rifle scope and after about 8.5 hours of expert mode farming of post plantera enemies i finally got a morning star. (why) I know its only 1% but thats 1/300 more than magnet sphere (also i think you may have forgot to classify the .67% is only expert+ modes) But it doesn't end there... I was trying to get all nine whips in a summoner playthrough right? And to do that i need to get a dark harvest... Dark harvest drops ≤12.5% by pumpkings, and i eventually got to wave 15 consistently for the max drop rate (after about 5 attempts i got to wave 15)... Now i almost ran out of ectoplasm farming pumpkin moons because of this, i checked the wiki 3 times to confirm that it did exist, and items started despawning based of the 400 loose item limit. i was able to sell everything to get 31 platinum when the dark harvest finally dropped. And when it dropped i screamed out loud similar to Npesta's Kenos verification in geometry dash (ua-cam.com/video/Bs1kVySdUtI/v-deo.htmlsi=vHTzXowY8PANV-K6&t=102) At least dark harvest was worth it. Morning star definitely wasn't
The reason magnet sphere, specter staff, and inferno fork aren’t discussed is because if you go to the dungeon for anything, you will end up with all 3 while fighting for your life in master mode and not getting what you came for.
The endgame has been such a mad dash to the finish line starting at post-Mech bosses since 1.3 and I really wish Re-Logic would find a way to do something meaningful about that. Ideally I'd want to see another required boss & maybe one more weather/wave event after Golem and before the Cultist/Martians, with the Cultist, Towers, and Moon Lord receiving significant health increases to compensate. I think that could heavily re-incentivize exploring Hardmode Dungeon by making the weapons and items therein relevant again (these days I usually just skip Hardmode Dungeon as it's really not necessary at Expert difficulty. Master might be another story) while also boosting the usefulness of True Excaliber/Night's Edge and Terra Blade. Honestly I miss 1.2.4, in that the endgame *was* the Hardmode Dungeon, so you never got so immensely powerful that the drops there could be so easily disregarded.
My favourite support weapon is rainbowgun i loved using rainbow gun in Duke figth with Spectre healing armor (in multiplayer of course I turned into white mage of team)
i think the best use for the magnet sphere is the old ones army right?. i used a ton of support weapons for that and it worked amazingly. clinger staff rainbow gun magnet sphere turrets and the shadow beam staff or smthn. its awesome
on my first vanilla playthrough, i ws doing mage on expert, on a switch, and i really enjoyed using it. iirc, i used mostly general use, especially combined with with the specteral armor.. i later used its later upgrade (i guess), the Nebula Arcanum. pretty good imo
The slow cast Speed and projectile Speed make me think that If we took out the one spheres limit we would still get a medium weapon, but at least a little more usefull. My favorite use for that is old ones army as a suplementary dps. But that would be better done by the rainbow gun. In the end, quite forgeteful weapon that might get used a bit If drops early at the ectoplasm farming.
Oh it ricochets now? when did they buff it like that? I remember it disappearing upon contact with blocks. I used to use it to cover my back while exploring
These weapons are great when you're busy with other tings and have 0 intention of engaging enemies yourself. It's pretty much the same as using a summon as a non summon characters. And combining them actually makes it even more efficient.
I love this thing; great for farming the Dungeon (which is nice since it's where you get it) and my luck is pretty good; it's typically my first Mage drop in the Dungeon post-Plantera
The best support weapons in my opinion are the golden shower and bladetounge (if you dont have ichor flasks) for rangers i just use an inventory setup to stratigicly place ichir bullets amont a sea of chlorophite, high velocity or luminite depending on the prey. (you may be able to tell i love ranger)
Not related to the video at all but the nimbus rod is the best support item in my opinion, why because it carried getfixedboi for me and my mate , so we stated getfixedboi and it took us 2 weeks to get in hardmode (skeletron and wall of flesh were the reason) but we beat mechdusa , plantera and golem in one day because of them nimbus rod , the nimbus rod makes mechdusa really easy but mechdusa is only hard cause of its size aka destroyer and the nimbus rod killed the destroyer in a 1 even with the extra health from multiplayer and plantera and golem both got shredded by the rod so in my opinion nimbus rod number 1 in support
Its the spectre armor set bonus when wearing the spectre mask , if you wear a spectre hood the white light bullets will follow you and heal you but it will give you 40% damage decrease So the choice is yours (:

This DVD video joke realy got me
"It should take you half an hour" me who gets it consistently and randomly right when i try to farm for a different weapon:
Could you cover both the Golden Shower and the Tome of Cursed Flames, and compare both in DPS, pierce tests and single/group capabilities, to determine which is overall better support?
Honestly the ideal is both of those. Amazing together.

I always use the healing version of the spectre armor because with the right build you can almost out heal dmg
When I actively played mage I always loved using it, and calamity adds 2 upgrades that are INSANE
3 upgrades: Magnet sphere -> Magnet Meltdown -> Voltaic Climax -> Void Vortex

For such a low drop rate, my collections of 800 I get every time I enter the dungeon is quite remarkable, apparently.
When did the bouncing off walls buff happen? I only remember this weapon when it dissolved after hitting a tile

you need to make a video about melee size
Can you do Pulse bow next? One of the most underrated items in terraria imo
What's the homing light bullets that show up when you attack a enemy?
Its the spectre armor set bonus when wearing the spectre mask , if you wear a spectre hood the white light bullets will follow you and heal you but it will give you 40% damage decrease
So the choice is yours (:
