Fryer tuck is the name of my local fish and chips shop, got the nickname Greasy Steve’s but regardless, best Fish and chips in the south west by my heart 😂😍
I love deep fried green beans. Several different restaurants in my area used to serve them. Most had them included in a combo platter. Corn nuggets, popcorn chicken, onion rings, cheese balls, greenbeans, mushrooms, zucchini chips, or deep fried Ravioli. It differed in a few places, through ingredients or fry style.
The ones with the breadcrumbs look delicious! Here in the US you can buy these frozen and air fry them, they are super tasty. But making them from scratch yourself looks even better!
@@mrbarrylewis Have you seen the TGIF range in Iceland? Unfortunately no green beans but they do the sesame chicken, and have some exclusives you won't find in a restaurant - the burnt ends are surprisingly nice.
TGIF and Applebees no longer is here in Pensacola and they made a decent French onion soup and I do like fried green beans and pull apart blooming onions 👍🏼❤️
Barry, can I please come over for tea. These look INCREDIBLE. And for vegetarian chicken stock I massively recommend Osem if you can find it. It’s god tier. Side note: I’m ordering a pizza for tea tonight and this has made me so hungry 😍
TGIF used to have a pecan crusted chicken salad and it was AMAZING. I always struggled picking btwn that and the jack daniels chicken…Would LOVE a copy cat of that salad, the pecan crusted chicken was so dang good!
My favorite sauce containing horseradish is: 2 tbsp ketchup 1 tbsp yellow mustard 3 tbsp Mayo 1 tbsp horseradish Mix all together and adjust for taste. It should be creamy with a small bite of heat. The color should be peachy. Good for fish, shrimp, fries, blooming onion, anything deep fried really.
It's a bit of food science fact that some green vegetables with become greener after being boiled - I think it's because the oxygen in the cells of the vegetables gets released when boiled or something like that.
Is my Friday’s the only one who serves the green bean fries with Wasabi Ranch? I would think the heat level would be different? Now I’m curious about the sauce with horseradish 😊
Was super fresh, i've suggested in the recipe write up though to add fresh herbs all the way, don't mind dry herbs but I reckon that'd give it even more punch
Well, that's a good call! I've only ever been to the one in the American side of Niagara falls - but like 4 times as there wasn't really much else to do that side! The Canadian side looked like a right party! That's a top suggestion!
I’m not a patreon currently, but may have to just for a chance to get that beautiful cow cutout! I’m obsessed with cows! Imma call her Bessy 😂 it may be because I’m from Nebraska.
Hey Barry a little tip to remember for when you’re frying something and want your breading to have a bit more texture or crunchy bits. Add a splash of water or your dredge to your flour it’ll clump together and add some crispy bits to whatever you fry
Par boiling the beans in stock is totally pointless, especially as you are putting them in cold water after anyway. Cooking something that absorbs liquid while cooking (like pasta or rice) will benefit from stock because the added flavour is absorbed, but something like hard vegetables don't absorb anything. All you are doing is throwing away the stock when you drain them. Just use water, it's cheaper.
Sifting your dredge literally negated the time that you spent mixing it...larger particles end up on top. You can see it in your video with the black pepper all back on top.
Really like the idea really like the idea of the double with bread crumbs I am going to try it but it'll be vegan style if I can again I'm a incomplete quadriplegic who sometimes has the use of their hands and sometimes does not which is why I use voice to text. But just so you should know I enjoy watching your videos because of your enthusiasm.
My grandma passed away in 2018 then my dad same year, but her name was Frieda, her mom didn’t spell Freda right, so dual meaning: Fried-a, great name and spelling for your fryer ☺️
If you are going to do some more TGIFriday recipes I'd like to see the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake. I hate cheesecake but I LOVE that cheesecake. All of the restaurants closed near me and I can not get it anymore.
Just for the heck of it and having a kid who can't handle eggs I have made a vegan version of ranch dressing that tastes remarkably like the genuine article and honestly it's not hard to do it's really not hard to do, mind you will never find Pepper in anything that I make because I'm allergic to black pepper that is a really new allergy that was caused by a new diabetic medicine that was put on which everybody Raves about but which caused me to have certain allergies not to mention that I became from the get-go allergic to it , yet everybody love that thing I mean everybody loves it to the point where there was a worldwide shortage of the drug in question I won't mention it by name too many people can figure that out for themselves I had an allergy from the start but I was told maybe it's not an allergy maybe your body just needs more of the medicine, the doctor refused to believe it was an allergic reaction so he insisted I take more of the drug a higher dosage, which screwed up my body even more cuz I had a severe allergic reaction then and was told by the doctor on hand but I couldn't quit the drug and had to go at least one dosage more at a lesser level no such thing is going cold turkey, I got off that drug and now my body is still even more fragile because every time I had to take that drug I was having a reaction. Things that were once sensitivity became severe allergic reaction with it. And ironically I used to like pepper in certain things. So I substitute other things that still give it that kind of pepperiness of flavor without black pepper the funny thing is I'm not allergic to any other form of pepper just black pepper.
Please understand I'm not a hater but when you're very poor and you see the kind of kitchen you have and the ability to do what you have that you're doing whether it's trying out all sorts of gadgets or making knockoffs of something that you had at a restaurant that's rather expensive for us poor people you can't help but watch and think all these people who are doing these videos these food videos Etc they all have money and a place to do it in they're not handicapped physically able to do whatever it is they need to do without other people helping them and short you can't help but be a little jelly. No it won't but it took me a little while to realize that you are very British because of how you talk and also you're very laid-back which I'm married to a britisher and trust me my spouse is not laid back.
If you have a coffee grinder once you've wiped it down cleaned it up from when you had coffee in there you can use it to grind spices and it will grind it very fine for you if that's what you're looking for I've done this before you can also use it police some of these Grinders you can use for grinding your own flour if you're in the mood to do so.
Barry when dealing with green beans I'm going to tell you what I learned from both my grandmother my mother and as a third Source because I felt this is a bit odd from a certain Italian lady lived above my grandmother and all three did the beans the same way what you do is you break off the end that has that little stem and then you pull it down it literally will take off the hard string that closes the beans when you get to the end it will literally snaps off the tip no need for a knife no need for scissors.
I spent many a day as a kid snapping beans like that by hand no knives nothing just with my fingers and it’s way quicker to do it with your hands and it is with a knife or any other means
You talking about the bargain fryer reminded me of the bargain I got recently that might interest you. I was looking for easier ways to cook rice and found in asda a rice cooker for £12. I just harvested a ton of beans. I can only pickle so many. So imm be making those tonight!!
That first batch looks like what they’d actually serve me at Fridays. 😆
In Portugal, this is known as "peixinhos da horta"... Little fish of the garden 😂
Jalapeno poppers with cheddar are my faveeee. Ate an actual TGI Fridays meal and got wicked sick. TGIF frozen stuff is always good!

That sounds way cooler, love Portugese names for things
Marty McFry would be a good name
Add a little Parmesan to the flower and bread crumbs. Delicious. And... You can do the same with zucchini sticks. You'll love it.
We used to call our fryer, Spencer. Many moons ago, there used to be a programme called Spencer for Hire - say it and you’ll see why.

I see them on the TGIFriday's US menu, but hovering over it says it's served with a WASABI-Cucumber Ranch.
I love Barry’s videos but each time I’m watching I can’t help but wonder what that is on top of the kitchen cupboards? 😂😂 x
