Fallout fans, does this set meet your expectations for the Universe? What new cards slot in perfectly to your existing commander decks? Are there any Commanders you’re excited to build?
Yep, meets expectations. There are some pieces I’m a little dissatisfied with - the Bobbleheads having “sorcery speed” on some feels like an unnecessary nerf, and a few characters that haven’t gotten cards like Joshua Graham. I’d love to see more locations on lands, so that feels like a missed opportunity as well, since traveling around the map to these unique sites feels like such an integral part of the game. I’ll be building Mr. House first since I love dice-rolling. It’s got the most universes beyond cards in it of any deck - LotR, Dr. Who, Warhammer, Unfinity … it’s got robot synergies and should be a blast to play.
There are def some cool and powerful cards. This vid felt a bit rushed and all over the place. You already discussed the decks; just show us the game already 🙃
As a fallout fan that has started consuming mtg content, I really like most cards but also think there's a lot of missed opportunities from a flavor perspective You get Battle for Hoover Dam that mentions the NCR, and Struggle for Project Purity which mentions Enclave, but both factions got barely any representation in the form of named characters. I guess Enclave has decent rep, but President Eden would've still been a fun character card that, again from a flavor point of view, I personally think would've fit nicely in the Science! deck since he's actually a sentient computer. Another thing is the sagas. I love that all of them are vaults, but the flavor of some of these vaults dont fit their decks. Vault 13 feels like a Scrappy Survivors card that got packaged in Science by accident, and Vault 21 is a vault that honestly feels forced on any precon. I would've replaced 21 with 13, and leftover space in Science gets filled by a more tech based vault from the games, like 88 which is about inventing the machines that would go to other vaults, or 118 which is a robot murder mystery so it could be all about clue tokens And my last large complaint is that I recently learned there's a card archetype called Artifact Land, which was part of the previous energy decks, and its so disappointing that Science doesnt have any Artifact Lands of its own when the Fallout universe is littered left and right with factories and other tech heavy locations. Big MT, Galactic Zone and Watoga are a few locations that come to mind that very easily could've been adapted as Artifact Lands
I have been looking forward to this set since it was announced. God. I love every single card in the set. This is the one time. I can say I don't care about reprints
Jimmy setting up jokes and passing to himself, and of course laughing at his own jokes (that he set himself up for) is my favorite part of this episode 😂
It's wild that I remember episode 100 dropping and were almost at 600. Command zone episode 100 could have never guessed the craziness that's been happening in mtg
PIP-BOY 3000 is definitely going in my Isshin deck. Doubling up the untap for easy ramp is just awesome and digging two cards deep for my extra combats is just great. With it and Aggravated Assault, you're only paying 1 mana to activate the enchantment.
i feel like jimmy may have missed a part of inventory management. It's a may ability, you do not need to move all auras and equipment. this is an auto include in any aura or equipment deck with red and white in it.
I'm building Dogmeat, The Master, and Mr. House. So... you could say I'm happy with this set. I think they did a really good job of making commanders that explore new space, point a brewer in the right direction, but the commanders don't build themselves. I also think people are really underselling the second half of Mr. House. 5D6 yields 1 treasure and 2.5 3/3 tokens on average. That ability is a board state on a stick in a treasure deck.
Small error. Inventory management doesn't force you to equip everything. It's a may ability. You could only equip your greaves to another creature if you want
I think this has come up in another video but welcoming vampire doesnt trigger twice if you have a delney or panharmonicon because of its triggers only once each turn
I read that the reason why none of these "obvious" battles are actually battles is that they were designed before battles had made it to the general public, and they didn't know how battles would be received.
What wasn't mentioned with vats, is if you have the mana for it, sudden spoiling, especially on the stack if someone is being a problem, stop them in their tracks and make everything a 0/2 with no abilities, then pop their stuff with V.A.T.S. and watch as the tears and salt piles up.
Unless I'm missing something, both spells have _Split Second,_ so you couldn't cast either of them while they're on the stack... Now, you could cast them separately?
@@uniwolfacorn I figured, I even mentioned that. It's just that the way the OP worded it, it sounded like they were casting V.A.T.S while sudden spoiling was on the stack. Read their comment.
Wait so am i misunderstanding what the "equal" word means in V.A.T.S.? He said 1/1 and 3/3... Does it mean equal toughness to its damage? Or does it mean equal toughness as is 2/4/6/8 etc?
It means that all the creatures you target have to have the same toughness. If there's a 1/3, a 3/3 and a 2/2 on the board, you can target both the 1/3 and the 3/3, but not the 2/2 along with those two. (You can always target any creature you want if you target just a single creature.)
For Inventory Management, two key points: "For each Aura and Equipment you control, you may attach it to a creature you control" First, it's a "may" ability, and second, it's a "For each" ability. Which means that, instead of reading "Attach each Aura and Equipment you control to a creature you control", it means you get to pick for each Aura / Equipment whether you want to attach it and where it will go. So it still can work in go-wide decks -- you can hot-swap all of your Auras / Equipment to one big beater, or you can dole them out to get a bunch of different abilities on different creatures. If you have debuff auras on opponent's creatures, you don't have to move them. If some of your buffs are right where you want them already, you can leave them be. If you have all of the "Sword Of ..." equipment on the field and you're being attacked, you can spread out the swords so that each blocker has protection from the color of the creature hitting it. It's a pretty crazy card if I'm reading this correctly.
"Mutation Advantage" is dope. I have been meaning to pick up "Repulsive Mutation" from the previous set and the synergy is strong and thematic, what's not to love!
i don't get what's wrong with you people in terms of UB stuff. you're clearly reading the fallout card's names, why do you keep using the weird-ass magic equivalents of stranger things and street fighter? does anyone actually remember any of those names? just say will + dustin with zirda and e honda like a normal person. sorry that just really bugs me.
Jimmy not looking 100%, but props for powering thru, single person is hard to discuss the cards. You made it fun funny and made it happen. Who care if you miss land drops, you ensure content drops!
Inventory management is a may effect and also for each aura or equipment you may attach it to a creature, that creature can be different for each aura or equipment. So you get to make the choice for each one you have separately
Inventory Management IS Just awesome in sunforger Decks because you can find it of the sunforger and IT leaves the sunforger live after. with that you could Dodge creature removel (buy Just moving the sunforger over) and you will Always win combat. (It also has Thema Secret Mode of living "Double Strike" by moving your Equipments from a firststriker to a normal Strike creature) and you do Not even need to move all the peaces. On that note: bip-boy is nice for sunforger Decks too because it lets you untapp the RW you need. You also ask If there was a Deck that would use both modes of battle of Hoover Dam and I think Falko Sparkasse would do that. Falco needs counterspells to remove from creatures to Cast spells of the top of His deck and what counterspells would be better to remove than finality counters? With that you get extra spells and get to reuse the value creatures. Also
I think Brudiclad would make a good bobblehead commander. you get the untap and copy shenanigans from blue and the flippity flop shenanigans from red. BOBBLECLAD
I know it's a crazy expensive combo but I was really thinking about finding a spot for V.A.T.S and Asinine Antics in my faerie deck. I'm not sure how viable it would be but it /could/ kill every creature on my opponent's boards.
As a Fallout fan, i dont know why it is that I'm not as excited for it. Maybe they lacked cards that coincide with my interest in the games. Shawn is good and I love that they made an interesting 3 Dog. I guess I hoped for more like Valentine and Fawkes. Notable Lands maybe that were Vaults. Not sure, but I'm already waiting for the next inclusion.
Personally, regarding the set as a whole, I think that, while there are many strong designs, I think that some characters were left out in favor of more fringe characters. In my opinion, Boon and Raul are both just famous companions, but other than that they dont really have the depth that a character like Father Elijah or Ulysses does. I also feel the effects of some of the cards are off, like Ed-E just isnt what it should be. Should've been ability keywords or something. There are plenty of good designs in the set, I'm just highlighting some bad design decisions
Vats is a solid card but it definitely has combo potential and is fantastic card to duplicate Grixis styled decks. The first combo card that comes to mind is Humility, makes it a full on board wipe but also Mirrorweave, Phantasmal Form, Godhead of Awe or Sudden Spoiling.
Delina in Shaun, at least targeting Shaun himself seems like a non-bo. Since once the token copy of Shaun leaves all synths would also have to leave. Why would you even do that? Obviously you wouldn't, but Jimmy mentioned so thought I'd throw it out there
VATS, I don't think it's very good. Curtains Call is guaranteed exactly the two creatures you want to destroy usually for only 3 mana. I would play that first every time
Sram and Kor spiritdancer do not let you draw a card using 3Dog's ability. Only the one when you cast the aura onto 3Dog himself. (Cast versus create.)
Pip boy seems sweet for Alesha. Every mode works with the commander, and it cares about attacking. Also It probably wants powerful lands to enable white ramp.
Nuclear Fallout is an excellent inclusion in big-mana black; even though there is no shortage of boardwipes in that colour, it's the first one that serves double-duty as a wincon if you manage to get your unlimited mana engine online. The fact that it's also an acceptably-costed boardwipe most of the time is what sells it.
I'm not overly thrilled with the cards. Some are great of course but I was really hoping for some of the monsters to be stronger or legendary. They left out super mutants, the wendigo and I feel like raiders could see more love. Tho that's kinda what u have to expect for precons verse a full set like LotR.
Speaking of magiccon chicago, will you guys be uploading the game knights live video soon, i was there for the first half but i missed the second half for an event that was happening during the live game

Here for Jimmy's slow descent into madness
Love the chemistry between Jimmy and Jimmy, just riffin
Jimmy, Jimothy, and Jim E. Wong
Well jimmy deserve a raise for this endurance run xD
I'm only liking this video because Jimmy was laughing at his own jokes
JLK was really killing it in this episode 🔥
Professional!
I preferred Jimmy myself
Not the first to say but gotta give props to Mr Wong for carrying the team here, as well as all the editors of course. Well done
Jimmy setting up jokes and passing to himself, and of course laughing at his own jokes (that he set himself up for) is my favorite part of this episode 😂
Inventory Management is a may effect -- unless I'm missing something I don't think you have to move all Auras and Equipments to one creature
You get to attach each one individually too, so they don't all have to go to the same creature either, perfectly fine for wider aura/equipment setups.
It's wild that I remember episode 100 dropping and were almost at 600. Command zone episode 100 could have never guessed the craziness that's been happening in mtg

Same, but I don't know what to cut 😅
solo jimmy talking to himself is very on brand for fallout, killed it thank you!
Wow... Rachel didn't misspeak a single word!!!
Give her a raise!!
7 thumbs up!
Are you going to point out all the mistakes Jimmy made in this video? Or do you only nitpick on one of the hosts of this channel?
I like the background shelves. It's subtle. They have things on them but they're not overly cluttered.
i feel like jimmy may have missed a part of inventory management. It's a may ability, you do not need to move all auras and equipment. this is an auto include in any aura or equipment deck with red and white in it.
This. It says may. With enough equipment out, this is going to be a game ender like Embercleave was in standard a few years ago.
Jimmy: Who's hosting the Fallout episode?
Everybody Else: *casts Teferi's Protection*
Jimmy: ...

Because it's a completely different card type with a completely different function?
I read that the reason why none of these "obvious" battles are actually battles is that they were designed before battles had made it to the general public, and they didn't know how battles would be received.
Ooooh i like that Nuclear fallout card!
Guys I think Jimmy's gone insane
I'm sad that there wasn't another person so you could sing a classic fallout song
I don't want to set the woooooorld on fiiiirrreeee

he thought we wouldn't notice that he pronounced asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar right first try 😂
Jimmy looks dog tired. MagicCon Chicago seems like it decimated the command zone crew. Rest up guys!
Nuka-Cola Vending Machine together with Academy Manufactor :)
Please continue to put Jimmy in a vacuum so we can watch him go slowly insane. I bet it would result in some crazy commander decks.
Said bobble head s 22 more times after the 28 count .......just saying
Jimmy, the Sole Survivor, the Lone Wanderer, the…Courier of good card info.
Unwinding Clock would be good for The Master, since he's an artifact creature.
I think Osgir would make a good bobblehead commander think of all the bobbleheads you could have
I have a new ringtone: sped up bobblehead montage
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter...
This poor lonesome dove go jimmy go.....GO JIMMY GO!!!!
I like nuclear fallout mainly because it's flavour text is from the intro from the very early fallout games
Split second removal? I'm happy if it removes one important creature, tbh.
Need to comment to support Jimmy in these trying solo times
Jimmy is actually the ghoul in the Fallout quest party that is Command Zone’s cast
Not recommending Worldslayer for Cait is criminal. It's a wincon.
Jimmy talking to himself was the best thing I’ve seen since sliced bread! Love it
Sierra’s on the thumbnail but you didn’t talk about her 😭 was really looking forward to that.
The bobblehead count part was great! 🎉
For VATS I'm happy with 4, comfortable with 3.
I feel like jimmy is a character in fallout who had been alone for decades and still hasn't come to terms with his situation 😂
I had a standard energy deck that was fucking awesome, can't wait to meld it into Dr. Li.
I am so mad they didn't add Joshua Graham. I was hoping he would get a card. I wanted to build him so bad
Jimmy giving Travis Miles for the Fallout episode
It's sad watching him doing this episode alone
The Master Ascendant with Intruder Alarm!!!???
I think Inventory Management is better that Jimmy said. The effect says "For each..., attach to a creature." I don't think they need to all be the same target. That says to me that the choices are independent of one another. I for one am excited to see this card, for sure!
And it's a may ability for each one, anything you don't want to move stays where it is.
Pipboy 3000: Finally a good target for Urza's Saga.
Jimmy. You are great. Nuff said.
I’m expecting a mr house deck from Rachel and I can’t wait to see it
Exile Ironsoul enforcer to Curie and see what happens
You can really tell that Jimmy has never played a Fallout game in his life lol.
We now have a The Master from two whole different multiverses.
What is that, a 1 liter? Nice! Keep hydrated for the like button!
Ngl kinda liked the solo show, Jimmy handled it very well.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Preston’s second ability reads “Whenever Preston Garvey, Minuteman attacks, untap each enchanted permanent you control.” Why are people focusing on Lands and not Auras for all permanents?
I think it's more for flavor, given that it's Preston Garvey. But I think it can be broken on any type of permanent too.
"Going straight is tough man" that's why I'm very gay :)
this was brutal Jimmy, respect the work to do this.
"How many times have I said Bobblehead?"
Jimmy solo? I will fly out myself and co host. @me for the cause
Will there be a game knights game play video ??
This was pretty awesome. More one person podcasts!!
