Yasuke was never given the title of Samurai. This is a fact. He was a "squire" to Nobunaga. Ubisoft engaging historical revisionism is an insult to Japanese culture.
See now this is how I know yall just be saying stuff to say it. A "squire" is an English concept amd it is basically a knights servant there is no comparable rank in 15th century Japanese military structure. No samurai or Daimyo had a squire. From what we do know he acted in more of a body guard role to Nobunaga. He was given swords a stipend and a manor with servants this much is known. And when Nobunaga generals betrayed hum and layer seige to the Castel he was sraying at he committed seppuku and Yaske was rhe one who took his head to his son. That sound like a task for a nobody.😒
Also when he was finally captured and sent away from Japan the treatusous general sited that his being an outsider was the reason so they did not consider him Samurai. They never liked the fact Nobunaga gifted him all that status and trust. Them not considering Samurai did not mean Nobunaga's considering him as such was invalid as Nobunaga himself had a habit of raising peasants and small folk up the ranks to become Samurai in his employ. I don't get what we are arguing about genuinely because assassin's creed has always been historical fiction Conor Kenway did actually help George Washington win America's independence you are aware of that right?🤦🏾
@joeycash9739 A kosho is similar not the same because Koshos also protected their busho squires did not take part in actual battles they were more sheild bearers. However, that was a good point I appreciate the fact that you came with actual facts instead if insults I respect that.
Thank you. UBI apologized, but they have no awareness that they are making a racist game. That is not an apology. As for the game, if Yasuke had been used in a silly fantasy story, Japanese people would not have had a problem with it. However, Thomas Lockley's books of Black Samurai has been peer-reviewed in Japan and is treated as fiction. But overseas, his book was published as non-fiction without sufficient peer review. That has fooled so many blacks and whites. It is a falsification of history. As a result, the focus of the Yasuke issue has already shifted away from the game and toward the issue of Thomas Lockley's falsification of history. This prompted a member of the House of Councilors to launch an investigation. Since Thomas Lockley's falsification of Japanese history was revealed in this game, the Yasuke issue has already moved to the issue of falsification of Japanese history. This has led to a wide-ranging investigation because there are cases other than games. his is also why Japanese members of the House of Councilors are investigating. Ignorant people who do not know about these things call Japanese people who criticize the game racists. Thomas Lockley falsified Wikipedia and Britannica to become an authority on Yasuke in the English-speaking world, but in Japan he is treated as a historical revisionist. There are many people overseas who do not understand this. In Japan, Yasuke was a bodyguard and baggage carrier for Nobunaga, but overseas, it seems that the number of people who think Yasuke was a superhuman samurai or warlord is more widespread than expected. No matter what a foreigner who can speak Japanese like Thomas Lockley says, Japanese history will not change. Yasuke was Nobunaga's bodyguard and baggage carrier, but overseas he has become an image of a samurai or military commander like Superman, and Japanese people are surprised. It is unclear to what extent the false image of Yasuke has spread overseas due to Lockley's book and the anime based on it, but depictions that promote it should be deleted. In addition, Japanese people in this game are portrayed as servile, and it is unbearable to watch Yasuke destroying the human body by defeating Japanese people and crushing their heads. These depictions clearly show the unconscious racist thoughts of the white people who created the game against Asians, including Japanese, and blacks, including Yasuke. These depictions should be deleted. And UBI has no intention of understanding these circumstances, so they made a sloppy apology and treated Japanese people who opposed it as racists. Also, the unauthorized use of images of important cultural properties in this game remains unresolved, so it will be a problem in the future. And even if Yasuke was used, it would have been better to make it a more fantastical story by removing the unauthorized use of racist depictions and images against Japanese and black people. But Ubi is still missing the point and treating those who disagree as racists. The anger of the Japanese people is unlikely to subside anytime soon. I hope that those who have been deceived will wake up soon.

One correction towards the end, Nobunaga was killed and the mutineers didn't want to keep Yasuke in Japan as they considered him lower than the whites that they considered beneath them as well, they took him and gave him back to the Jesuits.

Since many online are DEMANDING for historical accuracy for YASUKE in a FICTIONAL narrative inside a FICTIONAL videogame geared towards entertainment FICTION so lets apply this same level of demands on samurai video game NIOH with William Adams (real historical person), a White Samurai (yes, he was given Samurai title for real). Where was all these attacks against a WHITE SAMURAI in a samurai videogame set in Feudal Japan? HISTORICAL INACCURACIES OF WILLIAM ADAMS IN NIOH samurai videogames...William Adams, a 17th-century English navigator and was OFFICIALLY given Samurai title in real life but the NIOH games had several historical inaccuracies which did NOT happen in reality aka HISTORICAL FICTION. (1).... WRONG TIMELINE: In the Nioh games, William Adams is depicted as a protagonist in the late 16th and early 17th centuries during the Sengoku period in Japan. However, the real William Adams arrived in Japan in 1600, which was AT THE END of the Sengoku period. The NIOH games fictionalized the timeline, portraying Adams as a Samurai central figure in events that occurred over several decades BEFORE HE ARRIVED IN JAPAN therefore the story is a lie AKA FICTION. (2).... Historical records do not indicate that William Adams fought with a katana in Japan. Adams was an English navigator and sailor who arrived in Japan in 1600 and awarded a Samurai title and a sword and became influential in Japan but there is NO EVIDENCE to suggest that he trained extensively in samurai martial arts or even used a katana in combat yet the games show Adams as a VERY PROFICIENT Samurai master. Another lie AKA FICTION. (3) .... Historical records do not indicate that William Adams participated DIRECTLY IN COMBAT in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600. While Adams was in Japan during this time and served as an advisor to Tokugawa Ieyasu, there is NO HISTORICAL EVIDENCE to suggest that he took part in the actual combat on the grounds of battle. Another lie AKA FICTION. (4) .... William Adams and Edward Kelley NEVER MET in real life. In the Nioh games, William Adams and Edward Kelley do meet each other. Kelley serves as a central antagonist/ villain in the games wreaking havoc in Japan. William Adams is depicted as a WHITE SAMURAI PROTAGONIST IN JAPAN who encounters and fights against Edward Kelley. In reality, there is NO HISTORICAL EVIDENCE to suggest that William Adams and Edward Kelley ever met and Edward Kelley had NEVER gone to Japan and there is no documented record of them crossing paths or interacting with each other. Another Lie AKA FICTION. (5).... There is no historical evidence or record to suggest that William Adams encountered Japanese supernatural creatures/ Yokai during his time in Japan. Another lie AKA FICTION. Where was all the EXPLOSIVE demands for historical accuracy here in this NIOH samurai videogame? I implore and request everyone to fact check everything i have said here. There is also little material to be said about the main female character. If the game were interesting, her reputation might change. However, her face has almost no Japanese features, so I think she can be confusing.
@@user-hy5xsai I played MANY Sengoku Basara and have never heard of these complaints you mention anywhere. Sengoku Basara has multiple games in its series.
-Sengoku BASARA 2 Heroes (2007)
- Sengoku BASARA X (2008)
- Sengoku BASARA: Battle Heroes (2009)
- Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes (2010)
- Sengoku BASARA 3 Utage (2011)
- Sengoku BASARA Chronicle Heroes (2011)
- Sengoku BASARA HD Collection (2012)
- Sengoku BASARA 4 (2014)
- Sengoku BASARA 4 Sumeragi (2015)
- Sengoku Basara: Battle Party (2019)
Historical Fiction has been a part of entertainment for at least 70years so it is very odd and hypocritical that folks are demanding historical accuracy for Yasuke but we never saw any such demands for William Adams in Nioh 1.
Assassin's Creed is littered with ABUNDANCE of historical inaccuracies for very many of the real life historical people used across the games. I watched the video of the Ubisoft developers talking about Assassin's Creed Shadows... They NEVER said that Yasuke was a samurai, they said Yasuke was selected because he has a lot of mystery which makes it easier to make a fictional narrative about him in the game. They NEVER said the videogame is a true story.
@@shadowone01x99
In an interview I was able to read in Japan, Yasuke writes that they are "looking for (non-Japanese) samurai to be our eyes.
They use samurai and other settings, but they don't need Japanese men. It's terrible.
This racist article has now been removed, but the image remains online; a search for "私たちの侍" will bring it up.
Also, I don't think BASARA's historical issues will reach much overseas. You might be able to find a Sengoku Musou appropriation, though, if you look for it.
They do say history is written by the victors. And this is a case of people wanting to make up shit because it sounds cool.
I do wonder when the runour of Yasuke the Black samurai actually became a thing
This is dumb in my opinion
i think the new little mermaid is a disgrace. i hate the padering in all our new media. but i really dont see this game being pandery i mean gta san andreas had a black main charcacter and no one said that was pandering in 2005. i actally think this is a really fascinating story loosly based on a true story. i think its intriging and very interesting. not everything has to be political. i agree they should have kept more the the historical accuracy but this isent uncommon for story telling. i think this is kinda blown out of the water
I agree with you on that one point; haven't watched the whole video yet. They have jesus, and then they they turned him black, think they call him yeshua or yahawashi lol.
If I recall well there was already an AC of a black woman in america who goes freeing slaves. But it was only for psp for some reason. I liked it more than AC 3 doe.
Thank you!!!!!!!!
Honestly thet should get rid of yasuke and just keep naoe.
Looks like pandering, to me.
People are always going to complain about the AC story. So when I play it, Im aint gonna care about the story at all. So my hope is the gameplay is at the very least good. And even then Im iffy on it
Cultural appropriation!! Dreadlocks is a Nordic thing, not an African thing. This game just promotes we wuz kangz all over the place.
There’s no proofs nordic wore locs
@@adedamolamartins3810 There are plethora of historical evidence. It's a well established fact that that influence came from Europe to Africa.
@@thomaslt5547 🤦🏾♂️ the stink that your trying to separate with something as dumb as that. You do realize homosapiens came out of Africa? Everything did. Therefore the default of humanity is brown, eye color brown, skin brown. Light eyes, white skin and hair was a secondary mutation when homosapiens left Africa to other climates. Your ancestors are only part neanderthal....your human. Get over it.
@@thomaslt5547 this is also false, accent Ancient India's God sheva was depicted with locs and other Egyptian pharos. Egyptians Predate Vikings by a long shot....which is in Africa...🤦🏾♂️ Super extreme face palm!

i just wana ask who give those developers that power to ruin the gaming market ? like who is really behind enabling those people to create this disaster in films and games?
Ah yes our champion is back, speaking for the sane.
Thanks I’ve heard the “black samurai” never looked into it.
Oh yes Yasuke, the gay black samurai from Japan
You really used a fictional fish creature as an example? Crazy.
What’s crazy is the fact that the fictional fish creature is just as real as Yasuke.

He wasnt a real samurai he was a retainer
A retainer refers to a vassal in feudal Japan, usually a samurai providing military services.
A vassal would make him a samurai.
He wasn't even a retainer, he was a kosho.
@@MustardSkaven No he ain't a samurai
@@bruhbruh2743 Which is why OP should not call him a vassal, cause that's the same as claiming he was samurai.

Eh why is that weird watch guy hosting this?!

Oui waz kangz!
Black Samoo ryes and gay lions are real damit.
Isn’t it more interesting to have a story around the first non-Japanese samurai? Who just happens to be black… also what are the sources for this? I see the Smithsonian and Michigan state articles claiming he was enlisted in the Japanese army after being sold as a slave…
The Smithsonian article isn't written by a historian but a journalist and as a source it references a narrative novel by Lockley, which isn't reliable.
I have no idea how reliable "Michigan state article" is. But if it's anything like the Smithsonian article, it's garbage.
No its not interesting and the fact that the game got pushed back should show that.
Sooooo, you have just crossed the line, goodbye
Bye Felicia!
Yasuke (born c. 1550s) was a Black samurai who served the daimyo Oda Nobunaga in Japan during the Sengoku (“Warring States”) period. He was the first known foreigner to achieve samurai status. Much about Yasuke is unknown.
Yeah, if the story is about him, I think it'd be alright. Leave out the dreadlocks though.
He was a pet for Oda, something Oda showed off for fun. Definitely not a samurai.
Please send me the link to where you read that Oda showed him off for fun, I'd love to read it

I agree with a lot of your views in 1964 it was hard to be gay but in 2024 it’s hard to be straight and not agree to lie about facts. Ok we agree their also we agree that every white hero doesn’t need to be turned into a black one we should just make new black characters. So agree on a lot of things but I’m noticing a trend that yu go out your way to come at the black community just like some black ppl go out they way to discredit white ppl and I’m just sick of both sides. Guess I’m just an anomaly but my message to all party’s would be yu can lift up and love your ppl without putting down another. And one last thing I don’t pretend to know how a white person would feel about anything because I’m black so how would yu know what’s best for us or how we feel about anything ? And this is coming from a fan of your work and I plan on to keep supporting your work because we agree on more than we disagree on. With that being said hope your having a good day.
Keep crying lol
HAHAHA COPE HARDER 😂😂😂
I personally can't wait to play AC shadows. Valhalla was really mid 🤷🏾♂️
Did pitch a fit when Tom Cruise
Last Samurai? He wasn't samurai nor did anyone claim he was. Have you ever seen that movie? It's not about him. He's the person through which the story was told about the advent of modern warfare that rendered samurai obsolete. Hence, "last Samurai".
