Siyeon said in the wonderwall behind the scenes and interview for her solo that she wanted to do a song that showed off her voice when she ran out of breath which is why the studio version sounds so breathy and vulnerable. She had the original version of the song fully composed about 6-ish months before the album was even announced (she is the fastest at composition and production according to Dami) and had spent ages perfecting the sound of the flute because no sample matched what she wanted it to sound like. The original instrumental sketch also sounded a lot more like slow traditional battle music and Leez (their producer who has worked with them for almost all their songs) asked her if he can use it for their future songs because it was that good.
The reason you hear the similarity to Anastasia's Once Upon a December is most definitely because its got a waltz 1-2-3 count and both have the same subject matter and vibe. Oddly this song gives me more Rimi Natsukawa's Kiseki no hana vibe despite being very different.
Seriously though, Siyeon somehow sounds even better in the studio while recording because the vocals are so raw, they all do. The second sample that had the newer instrumentation after some advice from Leez also had some high notes and the second verse had more of a soft almost rap like section which they removed and the ending had a final line which was stunning but they removed it because they joked that people would start clapping at the wrong time because they thought the song had ended. Also in Korea this song charted for the whole month and was in the top 5 of k-ballad chart for a long time. This and Starlight.
All the members have these interviews for their solos but its paid content so honestly I can just tell you stuff from it.
As a non korean, I just like Siyeon's voice. Her and Handong particularly. I have sound sensitivity and very few voices can help soothe my migraines, I listen to this and Handong's solo for headaches. Also their vlives (when SuA doesn't show up) are great to fall asleep to.
Edit- To woo SuA you need to be a strong masculine man, a bleeding warrior type, someone who can be a good father and husband and you need to like her more than she likes you, also just nice. These are her requirements for an ideal partner.
This solo song is on their latest album (Apocalypse: Save us) alongside with all the other members' solo (they all worked on their own lyrics, composition, arrangement) ☺️ they are releasing special clips every 2 weeks for them. Right now the Jiu, Gahyeon, Dami and Siyeon clips are out. All of them had a solo stage for their mini concert / showcase for the comeback, many fans took fancams and you can probably find recordings from the online stream 😙
As a non-korean: The feeling of the song is what makes this songs special. We do not have to talk about Ms. Siyeon's capability, we all know how versatile and awesome her voice is, but the overall feels and how she delivers it is perfect and hard hitting. I watched a plenty of korean historical dramas, and I might say this fits well in that sense. Listening to the song itself is like watching a historical drama. Technically, the instrumentation is in my liking too. I'm an amateur musician myself, that's why I am curious and happy to hear and listen to all kinds of music. It's amazing how music gives such feelings to listeners. I also watched the exclusive in-the-making process of this song (The show is called "Wonderwall"). Ms. Siyeon is fully involve on the making of the song. She wrote the lyrics, the topline (melody), and also made the early version of the intrumentation itself (which amazes the their producers. Leez, one of the producer, even said that she will make a great producer herself). It's amazing to watch that video. Ms. Siyeon is very talented and hard-working. Sheeeesh!
yes leez said that he can make many song from the track that siyeon made
Best song on the album
there's actually content where siyeon basicly explained how she produce this/recording process/demo version of the song(there's 3 bg music that siyeon made if I remember correctly and she choose this one in the end. but one of bg music interest leez, he said he want to recreate a song out of it) but keke you have to buy it if u want to watch :P
Out of the seven solo songs each member made on the album, Siyeon's solo really stood out for me. So much so that I've actually listened to Entrancing more than Maison on this album 😂
Wow I didn’t expect you to react to this so early 😂since I thought u would do that when u react to the full album but I’m not complaining 🙃
This is pretty recent since it’s from their Apocalypse save us album back in April with Maison. This song is Siyeons solo and she wrote the lyrics and as well as composed it. She was a part of every process of making this. Siyeon has another solo song in their Scream album called Paradise which she also wrote herself. She has a tattoo on her neck that says “paradise is where I am” because it was her first solo song. All the other members have their own solos too from the apocalypse save us and they all wrote and composed their songs themselves as well.
They all have a choreography for their songs which they performed at their online/offline mini concert the day the album got released.
The live performance you saw was from the concert and the special clip is new. They all are gonna release their special clips and for now jiu, siyeon, dami and gahyeon have come out with theirs. Every 2 weeks they will release a new clip.
Oh also Siyeons ans jius solos are my fav 🙃
This was the first time you reacted to their beside songs so as you can see they do many genres. I cant wait to see you react to the other songs ☺️
She’s sending me to heaven, every time I listen to this. My favourite out of the members solos from their latest album
She also wrote the lyrics and composed the music!
Siyeon could be a bias wrecker for you? She did an actual OST for an korean tv-series, together with Dami. "Shadow", they made multible versions of the duet, don't skip on the slow piano version if you react. Shows more of what the girls can do.
There are two versions of Shadow that I know of. Are there more than just those two?
They did AMAZING with both versions AND Siyeon and Dami were AWESOME at covering Hyuna and Dawn's song PingPong.
I LOVE those two as a sub-unit! Don't get me wrong though, I am fully OT7! :)
funfact, the producer compliment siyeon producing skill. saying its unfair that she's also good at producing xD
i think it also unfair that leez also is a great singer😂
@@zharfanazrul1364 all DCC is unfair at this point xD
@@gahyeonsimp5396 yeah for sure😂
Every time you scroll past 'Paradise' I want to shout, 'Stop! Stop right there and watch.' Paradise is the first song Siyeon wrote and is still her masterpiece. 'Entrancing' is very good, but Paradise came straight from her heart. Entrancing is a 9.5, Paradise is a 10.
as non korean.we all said we ascend to heaven hearing this. I get really emotional and goosebump, Its like some scene playing in my head. idk the language, but I feel 'communicated' I think you'll like yoohyeon and dami solo too.
yesss 🥰 🥰
I don't love ballad much in usual, but I just siyeon's vocals.. (also DC's ballad and b-side) Siyeon has power vocal in title tracks. But she also does well in emotional, soft vocals. So versatile!😊 I heard this song 1st time in mini concert(in this year April 12th). I remember other members ment(I think Sua said: "I cried while watching the solo dance in first time") And I also cried...Tears were dropping without any awareness🥺 This song has some kind of faint MOOD.. anyway, I enjoy your video today! I hope you react more DCs song. See you Andy😊
since u said you have a soft spot for hanbok, dc did a dance video of boca for chuseok dressed in hanbok in case you’re interested in watching
and another one (also boca) but this time it’s like a zombie version and the ones who did their makeup are the same makeup artist from the netflix korean series “kingdom”
What I feel about the song? goosebumps!
Since you looked for more content, the week after their solo special clips are released they're releasing a small behind the scenes from when they learn the choreo, so that'll come out for this song soon
I feel like the song reminded you to Once upon a December because of the 3/4 tempo (waltz-ish) and the full instrumental🤔 makes sense
Dancing Bears
Painted Wings
Things I almost remember.
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December...
Anastasia was one of my fav movie, of course I remember. Also I agree with you and wish they had put in even more emotions. You know, there's those songs that hit you and you can literally tear up just listening to it.
Regarding the special clip, if I had one gripe, I hope they had shot the video in 24fps to give it more of a cinematic feel.
I am guessing they practiced dance keeping the hambok in mind
I think the white scarfs are memories of her friends or relatives, once they are gone, they just leave behind the memories.
The way you say you love Korean culture stuff .. ☺️
This is my favourite song among the solos💕
Btw, yes Lee Soo Young is a good singer too.
I think Siyeon's voice is perfect for Disney's movies.
When they anounced solos for every girl, i expected (i'm sure not only me), a song with high notes, maybe a rock song, because siyeon likes some rock bands , but she drops this song.
If i should rank the solos by the 1st listen, i put this song in 3rd. Sua and Yoohyeon solos got more impact for me (in the 1st listen).
After some time this got the 1st place for me, and it's the solo song i listen more. It's a really hard song to sing, there's a lot of technique, not just a single high note in the chorus or end of the song, the instrumental is beautiful, the entire song is just art.
Jiu, Sua, Handong and Gahyeon were in my expectations, the genre. I Expected a pop song for Yoohyeon, a rock song for Siyeon, and for Dami i not ever tried to think about, she did many genres in special clips, so is hard to think about.
10:11, 15:50 sometimes the music is in the same tone, or the way of sing is similar, or even in other tone, the chord progression can be the same, or the instruments used. it happens a lot to me too, a song that reminds me of another, but not always i find out why. But the majority of the time i dont remember what song i got remined of.
I’ve had her placed last just based on the teasers, but immediately shoot up to 1st after I’ve listened to the full version. Siyeon’s voice in this song is so heavenly
same here, this song didnt hit me when i heard their highlight medley, but then it ended up to be my number 1 among the solos.
but siyeon last solo are also dramatic ballad. so this is kinda expected. I think both siyeon and gahyeon wanna do diffrent concept that are opposite of their usual dreamcatcher image. dami as always do positive kind of rock producing, and jiu again as always do her wholesome song producing. I think yoohyeon are the one that are abit unexpected. I really expect guitar casual vibes from her. but nope we get musical vibes
It's not really an old song. It's part of their last album. Each member had their own solo song and now they're releasing special clips for those solos. Probably one solo every 2 weeks. I believe they already released Jiu's, Gahyeon's and Dami's solos
All of their solo songs and indeed the entire Apocalypse: Save Us album is an absolute treat. They completely smashed it, vocals, production, tone, nailed it all. The solo's in particular are nice, just because it feels like them really expressing themselves how they wanted to as individuals, something I think should always be celebrated. Also looking forward to you checking out the b-sides, so you can see the variation of styles with their music.
The second part of my comment comes in the form of a request for another group, one that I feel are somewhat Dreamcatcher adjacent. Pixy, a group that only debuted at the beginning of 2021, are a 6 member girl group with a dark lore and sound and as a result I think they are often overlooked. It probably doesn't help that their company (All Art Entertainment) is comparatively very small, so they don't get the exposure that I think they absolutely deserve. Please, check out their debut 'Wings' and work forward from there. Starting at the beginning is the best way to take in the story and they have lore video's called 'World View' to go with their first few songs. It's honestly an absolute crime that they aren't getting more people looking at them, so I'm hoping to help change that 👍
This song sounds ethereal to me. And I can see where you remembered Anastasia's song Once Upon a December. They both have a floaty quality to them. They both evoke images of fantasy as they dance through the sounds of soft voices. December has a waltz to it, while Entrancing has a march to it. But both have a dreamlike quality to the singing that pulls you in.
Wooow. Didn't expect you would react to this already. Whew. Appreciated this man. 🔥
as a nonkorean, i didnt enjoy this slower song at first. but i started to fall in love with it & the emotions behind her delicate vocals, its beautiful
Thank you for reacting to Dreamcatcher's Siyeon. All of the solos on their album are good but this one is my favorite. I have a background in traditional "folk" western music and I am always drawn to the different sounds from around the world. This song style sounds familiar even though I haven't heard it much at all. Siyeon's soothing vocals with the traditional instrumentation work perfectly together. The more I listen I can really appreciate her expression in the melody without the overpowering strength we are used to hearing. The setting and dance performance in the video were a good match to the mood of her song. I would love to hear more of this style from Siyeon.
I don't expect you'll react to this one so soon since it's their latest album.
Since you already reacted to this song, might as well continue with other songs in the Apocalypse album 👍🏾
Yea out of the solos from the latest Apocalypse album:Save us it a 10/10 for me. I love when Siyeon or Yoohyeon sing like this, the emotion, rawness of a song. Siyeon enjoys working on new versions of her voice throughout the years. She really loves singing as an art. She is one- of- a kind person. Even took this song as a challenge to elevate herself as an artist with lyrics, composing and vocals. 💙
-" Heart of a Sunflower 🌻"
- " Dear"
2 good songs to check out
Wow a trip down memory lane with Anastasia lol.
This is a clip of Siyeon at Idol Radio. A great cover from her showcasing her vocal control!! "ua-cam.com/video/Fc99MAdKnBQ/v-deo.html", Siyeon's BD is coming up October 1 & it will cool to have a memory lane vocal journey and see how much she has improved her already amazing vocal skills. I can recommend more too. Thanks.
🤟😁🤟...💯🤩😍🥰Dreamcatcher...👍👍🍀🍀🌞🌞☺️☺️...✌️😎✌️...🌛🤗🌜
I know I'm super late to the comments party but I've been recovering from all the driving going to the Louisville concert. Even though they only did the choruses of their solos in the concert, it was kinda amazing how much of the emotion and ambience filled the venue from just a snippet with live vocals.
Several people have already mentioned this, but Siyeon already has some other solo work with Paradise, a song she wrote and composed about her struggle with the failure of Minx (not very OST-sounding, but very emotional like Entrancing), and her competition cover of Overdose by EXO which really shows of her rock vocals. All three different vibes but all totally breathtaking performances or songs!
these are the recent solos from their last album! everyone is getting a special clip, and they performed them all at their showcase concert - hope you can continue these!
Thanks for the video. Her voice is definitely chameleon like. She used this voice in their older b-sides, but she uses it a lot more in their later releases. Really surprised you reacted to this as this is Siyeon's solo b-side off Dreamcatcher's latest album. I think this might be the first b-side you reacted to and not their older b-sides. "Entrancing" is such a good song. I'm not Korean, but I get a very traditional, old, and epic sounding song, which I like. Actually all the solo songs and OT7 songs off the album are great. All the girls participated in the lyrics and composition of their solo sons. Glad to see you enjoy the track. Hope you'll enjoy the other solo tracks.
As non-korean but s. Asian person the instrumental does have similarities with our culture and it also give me that kdrama ost/disney movie ost
Annnnd I am also a sucker for these types of songs ✨👀.
Btw about the way you are reacting, in my opinion I really love it especially the references part it shows why you like the song which proves your genuine reaction (not saying that your reactions are not genuine or anything but it just adds more into it) and finally its very different.
We would love to see your cover on Entrancing 😃🙌
Oh wow, Siyeon Entrancing, didn't expect u to react to this. On their latest full album, each member got solo song.
Honestly, It didn't stand out much during my few listens on this song. But after the special clip and watching Siyeon and Yoohyeon vlive i think, this song is amazing. The background, the music, the vocal queen of Siyeon, it grows on me. 💘
Btw, are u gonna react to each member's solo? If it is, then Im super excited for upcoming video lol.
Just for reference, the Solo Song from the Apocalypse album is:
Jiu - Cherry
SuA - No Dot
Siyeon - Entrancing
Handong - Winter
Yoohyeon - For
Dami - Beauty Full
Gahyeon - Playground
The one that got a special clip for now is Jiu, Siyeon, Dami and Gahyeon.
Don't know about everyone else. But this song sounds like Studio Ghibli's type of music to me, and I love it.
Looking for reasons to not give it a 10, proceeds to give it a 10. Love it LOL.
Would definitely love you to have a mini cover of this song! You sound amazing so I'm definitely looking forward to it. You can take your time on making it or to heal your voice first.
I'm a Filipino, I love the song and I enjoyed this a lot. I haven't listened to this genre that much but I believe I enjoy a lot of genre from ballad to rock to edm which helps me a lot when it comes to Deukae.
About the references, I personally don't mind it. Most artists themselves would say that they have inspirations with making their songs. Would recommend you to continue that if you believe there's a reference to some of their songs, you may not hit the mark, but you may too. I also believe that we InSomnias in general are open-minded enough to hear those things.
Thank you for being a hard working with your reactions! Have a good rest and take care!
10/10 is supposed to be a hard place to get to so I must find reasons to keep things out of there. Haha. I tried but this song was too good to not give a 10.
And thanks always for your kind and encouraging words!!! I am feeling a lot better and just need to get back to a good schedule!
The song is very sad, full of the feeling of loss and loneliness. The visuals bring up two things for me. The use of the white cloth strips reminds me of the village spirit tree decorated with strips of paper or cloth. The other thing is the very ending scene where she's kneeling on the ground with the white cloth strips around her, which makes me think of a beautiful flower that is dropping it's petals because Winter is coming. That's probably because the hanbok has always seemed to me to be a dress that is designed to make a woman look like a flower.
Sua belongs to the world if she decides to allow it.
well i feel entranced by this song
They have the Beauty of Angels, but they are not Angels 😇 .
They have the Magic of Wizards, but they are not Wizards 🧙♂.
They have the Enchanting Charms of Fairies, but they are not Fairies 🧚♀ .
They are the Guardians of Dreams ,
They are the Legendary Dreamcatcher 🌙🔥⚡🌹☀✨🌌🌎❄⌛
surprised that you react to this lol.
I'll give you three recommendations that are usually overlooked by reactors and maybe even a lot of InSomnias. They are hidden gems. Their two appearances on the show Immortal Songs. ua-cam.com/video/e9Wnmz7lqFY/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/Rls9SSp1RJs/v-deo.html
I'm sure these songs will bring back memories for you. The third one is a cover they performed on Music Bank. Originally sung by a group called Chakra in the year 2000. I've always had the feeling that Music Bank would not have broadcast the song if they'd understood what the lyrics were about. ua-cam.com/video/1RmNVHXIEDE/v-deo.html
Dreamcatcher did some things in their early years when they were just desperately trying to be noticed that they might not do now.
There are Dreamcatcher Notes for the Immortal Songs performances. They were very nervous.
Oh...I love lee so young too!!!! I get what you are trying to reference.
Yay! Someone gets my reference. 😄😄
There is a song I like a lot, not like this one, but give me the emotion same as this song. 이선희 인연
i feel this fits as OST of the kdrama Alchemy of Soul
I really just think it's the 3/4 waltz time that makes the song similar to the Anastasia one. Very few pop songs are anything other than 4/4 which makes this stand out (aside from the other ways it stands out).
I enjoy this song but it's probably at spot 3 within the solo songs. No Dot at 2 and Cherry at 1 by a large margin.
Só eu que acho ele parecido com a seulgi do red Velvet?
