I finished the rebuild on my H22A4 earlier this year and I similarly had issues with the a leaky cam seal. In my case, I didn't replace it again, I was able to kind of reseat it while I had the cams out again to replace the valve stem seals after the rebuild (long story). When the cam seal was leaking, it only manifested at the bottom of the timing cover, not all the way over on the transmission, but it Was the Exhaust cam that was leaking, so maybe the intake cam leak has some path around to the other side.
For what its worth, I also had coolant leak issues but mine was the hose that goes to the OEM oil cooler.
