This series is so much more than numbers, it's an engaging look at the history of Doctor Who and the fans who were (or weren't) watching it. The numbers surprised me a lot as I never would've guessed the numbers that the Krotons got VS. the War Games. Thanks for another great installment and I can't wait to see the numbers for Series 7!
Fun Fact: The Mind Robber was one of two stories to feature Southern TV, and later TVS announcer Christopher Robbie. Also Jamie switched actors for a couple of episodes because Frasier Hines had chicken pox. No joke.
If you go back to Season 6, 1968-69, and the opening story, The Dominators, you'll see it was written by Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln (The Yeti people). In the book "Doctor Who - The Sixties" by David Howe and Mark Stammers, it does mention a request for a third Yeti story, about a Scottish Laird under the control of the Great Intelligence...instead The Dominators. I think, with a return of the Yeti, making a solid bond of alien monsters within that season six, then shortcomings of Krotons and Space Pirates would have seemed less perhaps, and easier to forgive and that season better critically judged! I recommend the book to you!
@@AdamMartyn I never understand people who say it's a slog. For a 10 part story it moves quicker than some later 7 part ones. Sure, there's a lot of capture and escape but it's just such fun! And that last episode... Oh, that's just so good!
Season 6 of classic Doctor Who is interesting. It seems like it suffered from seemingly good story ideas stretched like elastic... to breaking point...and with that I'm thinking of the opinion of The War Games (a story called The Dream Spinner had also been planned, but fell through). It could also be said that Troughton Doctor Who stories continued past The War Games = Doctor Who also had a comic strip in "TV Comic" and here Troughton's Doctor had five more serial stories here that ran from July to November of 1969. Check out alteredvistas.co.uk for those. This might be an idea to you for a Season 6 add-on, a kind of Troughton scrap book.
I highly anticipate your next video in this series;
Looking at the viewing figures for Season 6B!
Oh yes, the infamous Season 6B, where highs of 20 million and lows of half a million were achieved 😉😂
More like season 2B... or not 2B 🤪
Fully appreciating the time and effort that has gone into making the history of Doctor Who viewing figure videos my love, you're smashing it xxxxx

Jon Pertwee's first story as the Doctor: *SPEARHEAD* FROM SPACE
I never realised the Krotons had brummy accents. Now I can’t unhear it 🤣🤣🤣
Even stranger when you realise they’re actually South African! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sad sorry tale from a general viewer audience engagement position, as there's much to love in Season 6. Thank goodness so much of it still exists!

Loved that the intro of the show changed again, great little detail! Love this series so far!
Another great instalment, thank you! I wish I could go back in time and boost those War Games figures a bit!
I'm with you mate! For such a wonderful story it's such a shame the numbers dive so low 😭

Oh hey! This was posted on my birthday
The Mind Robber is one of my all time favourite Doctor Who stories. It's so different from the norm.
I still can't turn on notifications. :(
One of my favourites too!
That is odd..
The channel is definitely listed as 'not made for kids' so I'm not sure why you can't turn them on 🤔
Also, check the notifications troubleshooter feature that UA-cam has, that might help solve the problem!
You didn't get really nerdy and find the average of the 2nd Doctor!
Very good.
Wonder if some of these multi parters would have worked if they had the trust the bbc give dr who today (An hour a week)
The Qwarks look like someone weaponised the West Bromwich Albion ideal boilers Mascot

I'm curious about those serial stories you mentioned but that link doesn't seem to work...
