How to Build a Strong Personal Brand for Your Business (Explicit Language)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 чер 2024
- In this video, Phyllis shares her insights on the importance of having a good idea that is both obvious and cool, and how this can lead to a successful business. Drawing from her personal experience of running a business, she stresses the importance of personal branding and authenticity, which she believes are critical in endorsing a business. She provides guidance on how to establish a two-word brand that accurately represents one's true self.
Phyllis also touches on the topic of code-switching, where individuals change their behavior or language to fit into different social settings, and advises against it. Instead, she encourages people to show up as their best selves, which will attract like-minded people who appreciate and value authenticity.
The speaker also emphasizes the importance of respecting the rules of the house in different cultures.

It was mesmerizing to see how Phyllis energy brought out more in Chris from the relational awareness side of the conversation which is how brands come to life. Convo was VIBRANT.
Feelings, needs, communication, conflict resolution, identity, expression of identity and how it all works together as a system in culture of which quality branding must investigate to resonate.
Some brands are about "here I am, this is how I do it" authenticity and other brands are authentic in how they centre their Service around the user's needs.
This mirrors human paths of evolution (either self, or other driven) which actually is part of the design, there is no 'better' especially if empathy is balanced with a healthy sense of self.
Both self-aware self care, or self-aware design; both will resonate deeply with those on similar paths.
This is my favorite episode so far. To see a woman who looks like me drop wisdom and yet sound authentically her. Love
I really appreciated this unfiltered conversation from both Chris and Phyllis.
Thank you 🙏
“The same people that would call me ghetto and diss me for it, would crawl over my a$$ to get to Gary Vee and let him drop all the f**ks .”
That's a bar.
YES, YES, YES, from start to finish!! So many gems I don't know where to start. Just commenting so the YT bots can feed me more unapologetic Black women - the pioneers of keeping it real 🙌🏾 Queen, I see your crown and it needs no adjustment 👑 Keep shining!
This has been my favourite piece of content from the channel so far. Raw, real and relatable.
Usually each and every one of your videos have me hooked because of the authenticity & various perspectives . But this video took us all into a space we haven’t been in within your segments . I feel as though I’m at a barbecue cookout sitting with a long distant aunt who just happens to be killing it with a strong business mindset . It’s crazy because I just voiced this to myself yesterday how I wish I had someone like this within my family in terms of mentoring. This felt too relatable Phyllis felt like family. Even crazier I went to a school called Phillis Wheatley Elementary . Thanks Again Chris 🤧🤌🏾
Phillis Wheatley was one of my favorite poets growing up.
I’m glad you share this with you. Just hanging with my friend Phyllis.
@hausofnue I’m only familiar with Phillis Wheatley Elementary in South Apopka, FL.
It’s a small world if that’s the one you’re referring to.
@@MamaPout Close I went to the one in Miami
This has to be one of my favorite interviews so far with Chris... It was real, raw and Phyllis felt like a convo with my favorite Auntie.. Thanks Chris for keeping an open perspective of views and expertise in the field, that is representative for ALL of your audience.
“No longer letting people pick my brain to the point of picking my pocket.” ❤ it!
I loved, loved, loved this conversation. Particularly, the discussion around the complexities of culture. I am a former teacher and the grandmother of a beautiful little human who is Black and Cambodian and I have found that this idea of the model minority is an unfortunate and stifling stereotype and can be damaging to relationships with other folks of color.
More conversations like this are needed- in general. Lighter note, Brandmother Phyllis definitely inspired this Bibi (grandma) AND I am learning sooo much from your videos as I build my brand-thank you, Chris!
The most impactful moment of this interview for me was hearing Phyllis speak about her passion for preparing foster teens to start their own businesses.
How can we help support that vision?
I’ll find out and update the notes.
This woman's personality and demeanor is infectious... great interview and insight into the realities of differing cultures and communications. I almost skipped the video suggestion, but clicked anyway. Glad I did
Chirs always surprise amazing choice of the guest! It is unbelievable how much knowledge Chris is sharing for free, I don't know how we deserved this but the only thing I know is I'm grateful so much!
Thank you so much.
Hearing Miss Phyllis speak helps me feel more comfortable speaking the way I do. I loved this interview. Thank you all.
This had been the way my family has operated for generations and she’s right. A lot of people are out off by it. Gosh I just love this interview.
As a person of color, I’m so happy to see a more diverse guest on the channel
I could listen to her for the entire day, love this interview. 💖
Chris says my delicate Asian sensibility hahaha 😆 I'm Asian and I grew up in Texas with all-black friends so her words are normal to me - it's showing love.
Hehe
This is a beautiful conversation about the cultural differences in the Black & Asian communities. Thank you Mr. Do
This has to be among the top videos from you all. This truly made me think about how can I build a unique personal brand and not be afraid to put my true self out there. I truly enjoyed the conversation between you two, it was so real and comfortable. I’m looking forward to seeing more of these.
I enjoyed this video so much! Thank you Chris for always bringing in that value and introducing us to this wonderful human being ❤
I'm only a third of the way through and already feel I've gained so much from this conversation. Thank you
Lmbo Phyllis is all the women in my family 🤣🤣🤣 as a fellow hood adjacent Mississippi raised country gal, she is my vibe! This was very refreshing, insightful and also educational. So many gems 💎 Excellent content as always 🔥
Glad to hear
She reminds me of my grandmother. I love it.
Love love love this! ❤ Thank you
I am also a loud introvert. This describes my Capricorn self to the tee. Thank you again for another great interview!
"Miss me with the bullsh*t".... I love it!!
Love the concept of a 2 word brand. Will challenge myuself and look more into the "Brand-Mother's" work
This came at the perfect time when I am actually trying to work on branding for my agency.
Thank you for the diversity on this episode! 🤎🤎🤎
You’re very welcome
I love this woman! Hope to be that unapologetically myself one day!
Exceptional Episode!
A whole book can be written just on the topics of this video!
Thank you Phyllis!
Thank you Chris!
Boyan from Bulgaria 🇧🇬
The reason she attracts calm people is because she probably motivates calm people. Someone like her would probably be a conflict of interest. I actually think being your authentic self can be endearing to some.
great conversion. thanks for introducing your audience to a new culture
The best show 😊
Phyllis is the VIBE 🌟
OG branding lesson
This Empathetic Bitch is rolling! She truly understood the value of authenticity. I love her pure boldness and signature on the branding!
I love Phyllis and I have been loving these episodes.
This is so great. Building rapport is important, but definitely understanding nuances, and authenticity in this day and age are what keeps folks in the business.
And...I find the value in the concept of different missions for life, business and brand.
💯thank you for the authenticity. Amazing!
Translated to norwegian, she kinda sound and talks directly and colourful like people in North Norway does:)
Best interview ever! 💜💜💜
Another nugget. "I can't want it more than you."
This conversation blew my mind
30 seconds in and I love it already 😂
this was eye-opening, thank you!
40:26 ❤
And...powerful conversation on culture.

Amazing episode 👏🏾
Love her!
Great one. Thank you
Love it
It’s an interesting one😊
Where can I hear more from miss Phyllis?
Here I am sweetheart.
Whoa!
Thanks!
My 2 word brand after watching this, might be the Stubborn Dreamer, or Hard-Headed Dreamer. I'll think about it, but I like the concept of defining my vibe.
Stubborn has a good ring to it.
Great video
Although this is a GREAT video with amazing points, let me be clear… she does NOT represent all black women.
We express our passions in many different and unique ways!
And there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with her use of language… just not representative of the black culture as a whole (respectfully).
I appreciate the disclaimer because I don’t use profanity… but AWESOME video on personal branding 🙏🏽
I find it kinda strange this needs to be said but i understand why. Many don't understand that the Black American community or Culture is made up of various subcultures, each with select principles and can often be generalized due to popular media. Its always best to remember, these individuals represent themselves first before they represent anyone else, unless elected in some fashion.
At first I was mad at your comment then immediately was like, we stay having to defend ourselves because of the media. Absolutely understand where you're coming from. Great interview and Thank you for this comment.
Wow. "I am not here for this side hustle."
"...You have now made yourself uncomfortable in order to make everybody else comfortable, and you should never do that."
Chris is truly my brutha from an Asian mutha. Mad respect for this dude and his mission. Thank you all for your comments, even the passive aggressive ones.
people love your perspective. or they don't. either way, that was the point.
Im a Brit. I still call Snickers Marathon 😅
Two word brand reminded me analyst and therapist-the world first analrapist
oh boy, T Dog
