      I’m glad it helped! Keep up the good work! But careful with those Rainforest parts. Fixing stuff twice sucks. I would recommend OEM.

    Calibration is a SERVICE mode operation - it is there for a reason instead of a normal user mode, so no, it is not necessary to run calibration every 30 days, if it WAS, then it would be made available as a USER mode or done automatically.. Yes if you change motor, shift actuator, control board, pump, it is recommended to run calibration - it isn't necessary for lid lock replacement and some other parts. If your machine is working normally and washing normally and going through cycles normally, no reason to fiddle with these options - the control board on these units "talk" with components, and wait for status returns (lid lock, RPM sensor, shift actuator, etc.) What calibration is likely doing is activating components and waiting for return signals and adjusting timing - there may be slightly variations between same components, so it's all about calibrating timings - as long as washing machine is going through each cycle properly and getting clothes washed there is absolutely no need to run calibration mode, it's not a game, and certainly not every 30 days. Calibration mode was meant to be used after replacement of specific components, ones that may have slight variations in timings.
    as far as the turning dial clockwise to 12, then counter clockwise to 12, then forward-forward-forward-back-forward, you don't have to do it this way, you can just do back 1, forward 3, back 1, forward 1 - at least this works with the models with a digital display instead of leads at the bottom - for the model like the one in your video, just bring the knob to 12, then skip directly to the back 1 forward 3 and back 1 sequence.
    On some models it appears machine will go through a self calibration of its own if you unplug the unit and plug it back in or a power failure - an example of this, upon plugging in the unit and starting a wash cycle you might hear the shift actuator - you usually do not hear it at the beginning as the position should already be at the drum spin position, as this is the mode used for sensing, before it shifts to agitator mode on the wash cycle.

      We agree. You certainly don’t have to do it every 30 days and you don’t have to restart your phone regularly nor do you have to defrag your computer regularly either, change your car’s oil, do a tune up, etc. But doing these things regularly will certainly impact the longevity and functionality of your machine.
      We certainly stress that the machines be calibrated when parts are replaced.
      I’m a firm believer that the 1:57 manufactures are perfectly comfortable with their machines failing after customers buy them. So part of our job is to help customers not only use their machines properly, but be able to use them for as long as possible.

      @@affordableappliances3082 Sure appliance makers do not mind failure, because they are not built to last. Failures can and will happen even with the best of informed consumers who take good care of their machines. I have had failures on both my dryer and washer within 8 years from purchase -I repaired both and saved $1k+ in repairs, and the majority of times it is minor stuff. For dryer common failures are the idler pulley wheel and on washers, lid lock assembly or shift actuator. Prior to that I had a washing machine and dryer last 20+ years, never were recalibrated and lasted a long time, in fact I changed both not because they failed but to upgrade. On my previous washer repair I did not recalibrate, I do not believe it is necessary for changing a lid lock assembly :P That said, recalibrating every 30 days will NOT prolong the life of your machines.the calibration only allows the control board to get used to the slight variations in timings and ensure optimal communication with components, it should be done, but after that, it is not necessary to redo it if washer is functioning normally, doing so won't increase longevity. When a failure needs to happen it will happen - either electronic or mechanical. If you use your washer and dryer according to specs and don't exceed load limits, y ou will be fine - sure if you use those machines everyday for multiple cycles, they will wear sooner - appliances are not built to last, but fortunately if you know how, repairs can be pretty inexpensive, and most of the time control board failures can be fixed if you know how to solder and find the defective component.
      I've had a past refrigerator fail 3 times in the course of 2 years (from new) - control board failures, yet it was properly used, proper clearance, no power surges or any external issues . It amazes me how some companies use shoddy components in their appliances and electronic devices. I think it is best to hold on to old stuff and repair them, they will outlast a lot of the new stuff.

    These are just junk. Been working on units for a few years now, all the new stuff is just junk. Cheap build quality at best and your paying way to much. Do yourself a favor, find an old machine, no suspension rod junk with eco water. Just an old machine that has a mechanical timer, real spring suspension underneath and built like a tank. Pay a fraction of the cost and get 20 plus years out of it. New stuff breaks and dies within 5 -7 years. Do yourself a favor, buy older stuff that has been taken care of, learn how to work on it and save yourself headaches.

      You are not alone in feeling that way. The fact is we live in a country here in America, where the water laws are such that the manufactures have to build HE machines but there are little to no requirements for companies to make products last.

      Are you having problems with your machine? Or did you just try to calibrate it? There’s a chance that you have an error code in the system and it’s keeping it from calibrating properly. We are currently building a video on how to check the codes.

    My green LED's are all lit up & do not flash from right to left when I start the Recalibration mode. Does that indicate a bad Control Board? My Kenmore VMW is currently stuck on the Wash cycle. Thanks.

We've moved it maybe 6-7 times over the years and just plugged it in and nothing ever seemed to get clean or worse - it made new noises. Did what You showed and...THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @affordableappliances3082
      @affordableappliances3082  Рік тому

      I am not sure if I completely understand a question. After the calibration cycle, the machine should just shut off and be in standby. If your machine still doesn’t wash after calibration, you might have some error codes that need to be addressed.

      Yeah some of the later models with a full dial, you can just do it that way. Or there is a Whirlpool design where the knob does not turn 360 degrees. That would operate differently. We hope to have a video on that soon. :) Thanks for watching!

      The codes come up with the first click after the lights are blinking. You can find documents on how to decipher them inside the body of your machine or online. We are working on a video to help people understand how to get the codes and read them.
