Can we just be honest and say that the ABs have a major issue in the midfield, probably one of the weakest mid field we’ve ever had. No passing skills, can’t make metres or break defence and can’t set up the wingers and fullback into space. Also the black line attack from set pieces are just running towards the sideline, really lack creativity in backline moves .. still ABs for life
I agree 100% Backline for AB is a huge problem.Ioane must move back to the wing.Jorfie not a center.AB need a number 12 that can bash Vir gain line .Need a Nonu and Conrad Smith combination in the midfield.Number 10 also a problem
We all know Malcom Marx is great, but he didn’t have a standout year by his standards. Cody Taylor was the best hooker this year in my opinion. And Marcus Smith should’ve been the 10 in the world team.
Dont really get putting BB into 1st 5 for the last 2 games and I dont think it really payed dividends.Reiko needs to be moved from centre they keep persisting not for months but years. Its obvious he is not an international centre.
Two of the losses were by one point lads..thinking it's a good thing..let them think they're both finally dominate..we've discovered some wonderful new talent..given the coaches a season to connect with everyone.. realize the guys strength/weaknesses..form combinations ..it's gonna be great next year.
Exactly. The ABs were merely several points off the French and Boks, in their home turfs! The only aberration was that Pumas match in Wellington, but the Pumas did play a ferocious game and they triumphed over the Boks as well. Really, not much in it. Tests are games of fine margins these days.
I agree with you. The team has huge potential. There needs to be changes especially at centre and maybe 2nd 5. I think given the to players who left after the world cup and the new coaching team it was encouraging. Very close losses to SA and France, so the ABs aren't far off. Let's give Razor a fair go and support him. He is an excellent coach and a good guy. I like his sense of humour and honesty which is very refreshing
I was in Turin for the game and it was really cold. I really think that is what made the game scratchy. I was surprised there were a lot of injuries on the Italian side because some Italians looked like they were going to drop dead after 20. minutes.
The fact that a nobody from France won the coach of the year for a form of rugby that should not even be recognised in the same category as 15-men rugby is utterly ridiculous. Rassie ended with 11 wins from 13, with two 1 point losses, won every trophy available this year. If this does not show how corrupt World Rugby is, you are the most delusional person and should not be taken seriously.. And the fact that Du Pont won 7s player of the year due to one olympics? lol. It is just so laughable. It is fine. Rassie will keep winning and World Rugby will keep getting chest pains. Seems like a win-win situation to me.
On the contrary, It's great that someone from 7s won. Rassie already had a great foundation to build off, whereas Daret built it up and went on to win. That is why he won the award, winning all your games doesn't make you worthy. Dupont's win though is a joke. Should've gone to someone who actually committed to the sport.
@@icefarrow7959 maybe you did not know it (I didn’t) but Darent has been coach of the 7’s since 2017. World coach of the year does not take 7years to win the Olympics 😮
@@Qminnie1 Point I'm making is consistency can be the enemy of achievement. Rassie has done well every year, meaning what's he achieved this year would look less impressive than someone who has elevated themselves for this one year. Same reason Hansen didn't win in 2015. The one time Rassie won coach of the year was 2019, the year in which he brought the Boks from an abysmal 50% wr to a Rugby Championship and World Cup title.
European rugby has improved? Most definetely. The French defence was phenomenol with tough gritty players. The was no space to attack. Therefore size to establish gainline is a must, at least one very tall loose forward who can slot in at lock
Just want to know if the Kiwis on this channel rate Scott Hansen? I am a Saffa but looking from the outside in he seems like a bit of hot air and loves a word salad.
Yep. This coaching team generally loves constructing “narratives” and “themes”. There’s been some serious PR advice at some point in their careers. They like to curry favour… “yeah, good question again”, acknowledging the press by name, “yeah, you’re right…”, “I agree with you, mate…” They defuse criticism and frame the enquiry into areas they want to talk to, and which emphasize strengths in performances, not weaknesses that might reveal a lack in their coaching acumen. Note how the commentary here was framed after the Hansen interview; criticisms qualified by the narratives he established: lots of development, growth of young men, exploration of potential. The results and the manner in which this team have played has improved in the press conferences but align pretty closely to the issues of the last two seasons on the field. That’s the reality that can’t be hidden behind word salads.
My world xi 1. Ox 2. Marx 3. Lomax 4. Eben 5. Gilchrist 6. Sititi 7. Du toit 8. Dorris 9. Williams 10. Smith 11. Talea 12. Dallende 13.Kriel 14. Kolbe 15. Jordan
Nobody wants to talk about the referees the yellow cards and penalties were extreme ,cards-and penalties kept opposing teams in the game. At times I thought refs were looking at the abs twice as long and let’s not mention the tmo .
Yes, appears the refs are. BUT, this needs to be acknowledged and remedied. I think the "foul play" calls are absolutely ridiculous but it keeps happening so we need to change.
How about biggest defensive play as an award? A big tackle on the try line that forces a knock or a rip in the tackle or steal at the breakdown to win the game
Is it persevering with the offloads until they stick? Because once the errors come down…this team will smoke other teams. But got to get down to single digit turnovers under 5 a game to be really great like 2015 All Blacks good. 12:48
Listening to Hansen's voice, tells me maybe a lot of the AB's players were a little bit under the weather for Italy. Perhaps there is cold going through the team. Whatever is going through the Northern hemisphere right now, it is a bit energy sapper. I was sick with it from November 4 to 24 after two days I gave up any exercise for a full two weeks. Went for my first real run today. It has been a full three weeks.
It's not been said but marathon runners cannot run consecutive highest quality races - these days the oppositions take so much out of the ABs - Eng / Ire / France in a row ; Im not surprised they weren't as good as they and we hoped. Cheers, Ross
I like this show. But, with James Parsons stumbling, and Bryn Hall's rapid talking, it's a little hard to follow sometimes. Good host though. Good topic, and game dissection.
Everyone so quick to praise Rassie and SA, he had a 50% winning record in his first year as coach... including losses against Wales, Australia, Argentina, England, NZ, Scotland and France.... Relax !
Not a very smart way to look at it. You clearly do not know your rugby. When rassie took over South African rugby, was at its lowest point ever. Rassie was called in to solve the problem. From 8th in the world to 1st and winning a world cup in under 3 years is not genius I don't know what to tell you... now he is a back to back world cup coach, british and Irish lions tour winner. Champions cup and the highest win % in over 12 years. I don't know what to tell you
@@DomanaxTV mate, when Razor took over NZ was also at it's lowest point ever.. All I'm saying is he has a better win percentage in his first year than what Rassie had. So Razor doesn't deserve the hard criticism. At least he didn't loose 7 games, and against Wales Argentina and Australia

To all you whinging Saffers. The French coach deserved the title of Coach of the Year. He took a side rated No. 1 in the world to No. 4 in the world despite having amazing depth of talent. It takes exceptional skill as a coach to do that. If only Foster was on the same short list....
You could easily just select SH players for all the awards in the mens game, bar maybe mackenzie ( still a great player though) i guess they want to diversify a bit. But pretty much all the awards went to NZ, SA, Ireland and France anyway
Razor doesn't want to go down the Blues route with forward play where there was a lot of pick up the middle, yet when the ABs do on the rare occasion they make awesome ground and create space for the backs. Agree that the ABs were trying too much to try and get a high score. They'll be disappointed about the error rates and still shows Razor and Co. have their work cut out.
South Africa don't really play play openside blindside, Rassie has said as much. Argentina definitely don't, they play left/right. So I don't have a problem with Matera and Du Toit as the flankers
It would be great if the All Blacks coach selected a few easier games and allowed New Zealanders to vote on the team lineup. Fans could choose from three players for each position, giving everyone a chance to see the team they want on the field.

Another great show guys!! But how did you not talk about the injustice of Rassie not getting Coach of the Year???? Travesty!!! And Dupont hardly playing on the 7s circuit and sitting on the bench most of the Olympics making a mockery of the entire 7s circuit!!!
After the All Blacks series lost at home against Ireland in 2022, most people wanted Ian Foster to be dropped immediately before the 2023 year and 2023 WC Final loss. I think it's NZ Rugbys' fault for selecting Razor to coach the All Blacks. Joe Schmidt was my choice. Especially for what Schmidt did for Ireland and could possibly do the same for the Wallabies. Razor "NOW KNOWS" the difference when it comes to test matches. Unlike what NZ Rugby said before, "YOU HAVE TO COACH OVERSEAS TEST TEAM FIRST, TO BE ELIGIBLE TO BE AN ALL BLACKS COACH"! In 2024 our "DISCIPLINE" was terrible. And the ti 50:53 ming of our reserves to come onto the field to play was bad. Sititi deserves the "BREAKTHROUGH PLAYER OF THE YEAR". I also agree with Bryn Halls' talk of Tupou Vaai. Vaai REALLY improved his game, especially lineout turnovers, carry of the ball & defence. To fill in after Whitelock's & Retallick's retirement. Aumua has also stepped up. I think we should have a NEW CAPTAIN. Scott Barrett has failed. Possibly a positive from RAZOR has been selection of CANE after the red card in 2023 WC Final. Cane played GREAT this year. And to let CANE & TJ play the last test against Italy. We have a few more years to develop "THESE NEW TEST COACHES" for 2027 RWC.
All Blacks are building nicely with a good group of young players. We have a great age profile(Avg 24) moving forward that just needs more experience. This will improve game management etc . South Africa have been able to keep a very experienced side together but in the next few years will need to transition to a larger number of young players. Ireland are in that transition currently having lost sexton and key forwards. ABs are in transition, with more leadership experience, a better midfield distribution combo and a better all-round winger than Sevi Reese, ABs can only get better . Final thought, NZ needs to put more focus on age group players and restore the youth player pipeline. The decline in the number of world class ABs coincides with the decline in our underage teams, where so many greats ABs came from.
"Who's your front row player of the year? Tyrel Lomax" Are you dumb? Ox Nche was snubbed for player of the year and arguably was the clear winner for the award
New Zealand lost how many fly halves to European sides this year? Fergus Burke, Josh Ioane, Aidan Morgan and now Plummer? Not a good look. Hard to compete with Northern money but this logjam of potential in New Zealand has to be given more opportunity. Sixth super rugby franchise anyone?
All blacks coaches need to spend $3.50 to buy a 1B5 notebook and write the numbers 1-23 on each page and then write down all of the errors that each of those players are making. And then come Monday morning you sit down with each of those players and make a plan as to how to fix those problems. Clearly the all black coaches are not doing this! If you are a coach who is just sitting there merely watching the game and getting all emotional on each play, then you are not doing your job! When I watch the all blacks, I see the same players making the same mistakes over and over again ... its just poor coaching!
I get what you’re saying so it comes down to the individual. The story of this team is a story that will never end. On one side should we lose it all for World Cup. On the other side consistency of champions are measured on winning. It can be done with this cattle and the next. Save the $3buck fifty for chip ins and feed everyone
Looking forward to next years awards. If Fiji win the 7s World Series I won’t mind the team and coach of the year go to them. It’s only fair looking at the insanity of this years awards.
@ so the HSBC 7s don’t count? They were woeful in that comp. If they won the hsbc tournament and Olympics then yes I’ll agree. Let me predict the following…France will not perform because Du Pont is not there. Facts.
Yes, but on the reverse side ABs had 3 games they could have won and didn't and the loss to Argentina was totally avoidable.. The following week the ABs walloped the Argies. Good start for the new coaches and a mountain of talent found. Id like to see Proctor in at 13. He is a good distributor of the ball and is elusive. I wonder whether the Blues coach is taking the flair out of the backs and effecting their ABs performance. Mark Telea came back strong eventually for the ABs. Blues were using him as an extra loosie. Crazy.
A lot can happen in three years. Players will come and go. The ABs coaching team may change, at least underneath Razor. And that’s just the AB’s - changes will happen to the other teams and then the rules to rugby may alter. This is why RWCs are a crapshoot, because it’s about timing and luck for all the teams that are playing. Too much importance is placed on the RWC. It’s about year-in-year out performances that keep the game alive and ticking in the interim periods.
I still think this Abs team is over coached, too much info and shows in the way they play especially the backs they seem lost. We need 2ndV/Centre Jordy isn't Ma a Nonu and Scott Barratt is no captain.
Robertson and his mottly crew are slowly but surely destroying the all blacks I think turning them into a political vehicle is an absolute disgrace Robertson has the worst record of any all blacks coach get rid of him before it’s too late
I would say that the ABs have improved through the season! Started with 3 losses in the Championship and finished with only 1 loss against the best of the North! That said the ABs have previously been spoiled with winning! These days there are just too many good teams in the top 5! In my opinion there will no longer be a clear leader at the top like the ABs have had over the last few decades! It's time to get used to the fact that the rest of the world have caught up with the ABs!

Also the black line attack from set pieces are just running towards the sideline, really lack creativity in backline moves .. still ABs for life
So so true, being saying this all year. Attack coach has done nothing but put that part of the game backwards
Mauvaka for me was standout too.
@@rodwellchigome7567 totally agreed with you
to be the best 10 generally your team tends to win more lose less so
Noooo, final show for this year. All the best and thank you for consistently great commentary and discussion.
@Razzle-se9dw yeah Boks also lost to Argies, but that was very much a 2nd Bok team playing away from home.
I was surprised there were a lot of injuries on the Italian side because some Italians looked like they were going to drop dead after 20. minutes.
Juilan Savea in the npc was mighty

Best channel by far keep up the work lads 🤝🏻🇿🇦
I am from South Africa, but I love your fair jugdement of every team
Most versatile player ~ Cheslin. Played wing , throws in at the line out , played scrum half and kicked conversions.
Couldn't have said it better myself!! 👍
Fully agree mate! Also thought DuPonte seemed very ordinary in the autumn tests.
I agree! Very good observation regarding size and crossing the advantage line .
Size and ferocious nature is what’s needed in the backline .
Great show guys, From SA
Just want to know if the Kiwis on this channel rate Scott Hansen? I am a Saffa but looking from the outside in he seems like a bit of hot air and loves a word salad.
Politician ..says a lot without saying anything...give us back Tony B, there's a man of few words , plenty of action
Time will tell
@@craigrodger3628 you can only have him back after he has helped us to win the next world cup 😜
@@Qminnie1 Haven't you won enough!...Rassie was smart enough to see his potential , you guys deserve him ...

Cody Taylor should have been the # 2 in the dream team, from a SAFFA.

James an Hall are the two best on the break down of each game an players .
Great show boys!
Cam Rooygaard, wish he had more games this year, I wish we could put him in our Boks squad
It's not been said but marathon runners cannot run consecutive highest quality races - these days the oppositions take so much out of the ABs - Eng / Ire / France in a row ; Im not surprised they weren't as good as they and we hoped.
Cheers, Ross
Fair point for sure
I like this show. But, with James Parsons stumbling, and Bryn Hall's rapid talking, it's a little hard to follow sometimes. Good host though. Good topic, and game dissection.
Everyone so quick to praise Rassie and SA, he had a 50% winning record in his first year as coach... including losses against Wales, Australia, Argentina, England, NZ, Scotland and France.... Relax !
Yeah and it took him six odd years to win a freedom cup 😅
yeah but he didnt let that hold him down. guess pathience is virtue
@@DomanaxTV yeah but with a historically weak ABs
dupont getting sevens player of the year is criminal, its a slap in the face of sevens players playing all series.

did they manager to beat japan and win a game i never saw that one

@joeskienz thx Mom
To all you whinging Saffers. The French coach deserved the title of Coach of the Year. He took a side rated No. 1 in the world to No. 4 in the world despite having amazing depth of talent. It takes exceptional skill as a coach to do that. If only Foster was on the same short list....
with a big dollop of sacasim
@@shanecriddle-z5h Indeed. What a stupid selection...............
You could easily just select SH players for all the awards in the mens game, bar maybe mackenzie ( still a great player though) i guess they want to diversify a bit. But pretty much all the awards went to NZ, SA, Ireland and France anyway
What more does Kolbe have to do?...great shows all year..see u next year...thanks all..
They did the pick and drives effectively against France . They dominated but didn’t get the win .
It was the most unusual game to watch
South Africa don't really play play openside blindside, Rassie has said as much. Argentina definitely don't, they play left/right. So I don't have a problem with Matera and Du Toit as the flankers
A loose forward trio of Ardie, Lakai and Sititi is too short. Then we only have two locks as genuine lineout options. Need to find a Kiwi PSDT.
It would be great if the All Blacks coach selected a few easier games and allowed New Zealanders to vote on the team lineup. Fans could choose from three players for each position, giving everyone a chance to see the team they want on the field.
Would love to see NZ union to bring the north vrs south game back or probable vrs possible all black game.
We have a class coach payed well to select our national team, not a bunch of arm chair know alls.
@@JohnDowning-j7j I know everything 😂 if you get the fans to choose it would be interesting. That’s why I said the easiest games the AB played to get the country to vote. The only difference is the coach

Another great show guys!! But how did you not talk about the injustice of Rassie not getting Coach of the Year???? Travesty!!! And Dupont hardly playing on the 7s circuit and sitting on the bench most of the Olympics making a mockery of the entire 7s circuit!!!
Look at what France was like at 7 before Dupont and after...look at his stats..there's nothing to say!
Razor will be fine. For goodness sake give the guy a chance
ABs are in transition, with more leadership experience, a better
midfield distribution combo and a better all-round winger than Sevi Reese, ABs can only get better .
Final thought, NZ needs to put more focus on age group players and restore the youth player pipeline. The decline in the number of world class ABs coincides with the decline in our underage teams, where so many greats ABs came from.
I would have thrown Ox Nche in the hat for best front rower (if not overall player) of the year.
It must pain the new zealanders when the commentators say JUST NAME THE WHOLE SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM FOR PLAYERS OF THE YEAR I LOVE IT
Italy benefitting a lot from the URC.
"Who's your front row player of the year? Tyrel Lomax"
Are you dumb? Ox Nche was snubbed for player of the year and arguably was the clear winner for the award
Oh shut up bro one cares 😂
Agreed, and it's a concern that our mis-firing midfield has been populated with the same players for a year, when's razor going to address this issue?
Looking forward to next years awards. If Fiji win the 7s World Series I won’t mind the team and coach of the year go to them. It’s only fair looking at the insanity of this years awards.
France won it because nobody thought they could win it, they was 6th favourites with bookmakers
@ so the HSBC 7s don’t count? They were woeful in that comp. If they won the hsbc tournament and Olympics then yes I’ll agree. Let me predict the following…France will not perform because Du Pont is not there. Facts.
10 from 14 but could have easily been 7 from 14 - lucky wins vs England x 3 and that Sydney test too.
but england were worse than us way worse so we banked those eng games haha wats ur point
Crazy.
Ox Nche played better than Lomax
Codie Taylor over Malcolm Marx. Pollard over DMac.
Rassie over what's his face.
😂
😂
Ox Nche forgotten again 😢😢
Razor is not the guy that will help us beat Rassie and Galthie in 2027! For a multitude of reasons.
Are you sure because he's 0-3 at the moment lol
A lot can happen in three years. Players will come and go. The ABs coaching team may change, at least underneath Razor. And that’s just the AB’s - changes will happen to the other teams and then the rules to rugby may alter.
This is why RWCs are a crapshoot, because it’s about timing and luck for all the teams that are playing. Too much importance is placed on the RWC. It’s about year-in-year out performances that keep the game alive and ticking in the interim periods.
Ellie Killdunne was easily run down by Maddie Levi (womens sevens player of the year) at the Olympics GB pool match......you didn't mention her.
I still think this Abs team is over coached, too much info and shows in the way they play especially the backs they seem lost. We need 2ndV/Centre Jordy isn't Ma a Nonu and Scott Barratt is no captain.
Scott Hansen next All Blacks coach
Not convinced at all.
All blacks still the worlds top side.no1
Ack. Last pod of the year… where did the year go?
Maybe they didn't know the 🇦🇷 no 10. Beat the ABs in NZ, SA and Arg
Robertson and his mottly crew are slowly but surely destroying the all blacks I think turning them into a political vehicle is an absolute disgrace Robertson has the worst record of any all blacks coach get rid of him before it’s too late
World champions at cleaning buses and talking to bus drivers. Well done lads. What a load of nonsense.
Marcus Smith was best 10, Sasha would have pushed him though
