Moody A.F.B. I was stationed there as a FF May-77 Jan. 79. The flight line station looks dramatically different if it’s the same one. The structural side of the house was two Ford gasoline engine pumpers. Bare bones, small pumps and archaic equipment. How times have changed.
I'd be curious to know how much the IRT system costs to put on the truck and how quickly it pays for itself. That would be the true savings because up to that point your not saving any money. You're just adding costs onto the purchase price of the fire truck.
Re read what I said,I said use a mini pumper to save wear on the bigger engine ,you can stil get 3-4 people in a mini and you gain a lot of years of life for the engine by not putting excess hours on it,you can replace wear items on a mini far cheaper. In my old VFD we used the mini as a crew carrier to avoid the cost of wear on our engine since budgets only go so far.
Nothing new. Had APU on O-11 A&B over 70 years ago. Problem with APU or Booster heaters that caused explosions on P-4. Wait & see how these power generators work out in real firefighting & rescue environments. Saw O-11- A start fire while on an emergency stand-by. Luckily the P-13-A was close by.

A Very Good Concept !!!!!!!!
When I read this I thought it literally meant GREEN Fire Apparatus
Electric? Range is not an issue

Sending a large pumper to a medical is waste full,be smart and send a mini pumper running a gasoline engine.
They need the additional personnel though to speed patient care, and to assist in lifting patients
