- Welcome to my channel! Here you'll find folklore from across the British Isles. Earlier this month I headed to Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, with a friend of mine. Absolutely stunning architecture and splendid scenery for miles around. The castle is supposedly haunted by the ghost of John Brown, who in life was Queen Victoria's servant.
Music used: Bothan Airigh am Braigh Raithneach (A Sheiling on the Braes of Rannoch) - By Julie Fowlis

Beautiful voice
Queen Victoria first visited the castle on September the 8th 1848, and our lovely Queen died there on September the 8th 2022.
I hope the queen Rest In Peace. No need to haunt anything on earth.
Seems Balmoral has a new ghost 👌🏻
@@Melitulf Ghosts of the Queen & her corgis. That would he something I'd love
to see.
Now Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip, Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, & John Brown can all maybe play some 🏏 Croquet together in the afterlife on that lovely Balmoral front lawn? I thought the story of John Brown's statue was both a little tragic & slightly amusing. One of Victoria's children ( Edward VII), had John Brown's statue moved way out into the forest after her death, as he was not too fond of Mr. Brown☺🏏
Wow, I love how important dates match up like that! Thank you for sharing.
What a lovely place it's no wonder the late Queen loved going there.
Who wouldn’t want to be a ghost there beautiful.so beautiful
Hi Steve’s wife here 🤫! May HM Queen Elizabeth forever RIP! Did anyone catch that the first time Victoria & Albert were at Balmoral was on September 8th? Queen Elizabeth passed away at Balmoral on September 8th! Queen Elizabeth II is my 10th cousin twice removed on the Scottish Bowes-Lyon side! God Save the King!
Do you have a coat of arms? Are you recorded in their lineage?
The British isles and england in particular, is so old, I think everywhere must be haunted!
after what they did to gain power
I believe those are Fell Ponies that are bred at Balmoral. A good thing, as this a fairly rare breed, but a good one that deserves preserving. Thanks, mate!
My pleasure, fella
What a beautiful place that the queen had Scotland 🏴 has many
It is said that Victoria is buried wearing John Brown’s mother’s wedding ring, which was covered with tulle so her children didn’t see it. Their relationship was much more than that of a servant to a Queen.
I got that watching Mrs. Brown poor woman she had to loves in her life and had to watch them both pass.
you are late for the class john Brown married her the mullato that was the real Victoria SECret
I always feel so sad for Victoria . Having lost. Her husband quite young especially as she had so many children.
haha come on you are late for the class she married john Brown that was the real victoria secret
This was actually quite informative, I’ve never considered Balmoral to be somewhere haunted...
Beautiful video and a lovely story. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Another interesting anecdote about John Brown and Queen Victoria is the origin of the name for "Devil's Point", a Munro about 1004m high, not too far from Balmoral and Braemar. The Gaelic name of the hill is Bod an Deamhain or Bod an Diabhail, roughly meaning... the Devil's Penis. Apparently the English "Devil's Point" originates from one of the many trips John Brown and Queen Victoria took into the surrounding Cairngorms: Queen Victoria pointed out the mountain and asked, "What's that prominent one over there called, John?" to which Mr. Brown, a native Gaelic speaker, flushed red and blurted out that it's called "the Devil's Point". Oh, the Victorians and their sensibilities... Might just be a tall tale, though, if Brown was as direct as they make him out to be!
Great music choice and great video, as usual!
Thanks for sharing!
just found this video . I've been to Balmoral many times with my husband . as said in the video that you can only go into the ballroom . our beloved late Queen allowed staff pieces from the castle to be shown in the ballroom. the last time we were there they have got other stuff to show you in the outside buildings it's good .the cafe & gift shop are good aswell . we also claimed loch Nagar nit heavy going at times but we'll worth the climb really well worth it . also we've been to Glenn Mick quite a few times it's great seeing the deer . my advice to anyone is go
Wonderful video.Thank you!

Not been to Balmoral or seen Mrs. Brown I feel I'm missing out on something must go to the castle and watch the movie . Nice video inspired and inspirational .

My ancestors were reivers on the British side. Musgrave’s. We came from Eden Hall, Penrith, in Cumbria.

Beautiful!
Well done
Great video!
Thank you for knowing the castles. Rev P Muthunayagam
When I hear John Brown, I assume it is Kansas Territory abolitionist
I I find it interesting that the first Time Prince Albert and Queen Victoria soul Balmoral was on September 8th 1848. And their great-great granddaughter Queen Elizabeth the second died and Balmoral Castle on September 8th 2022. I understand this is a could be a coincidence but it's still fascinating .
Now that QE2 has passed at Balmoral, who knows what the future holds for this Scottish paradise?
Rizzio Mary Queen of Scots advisor and court jester was murdered on one of the stairwells in the castle by Scottish nobles .I recall that the stairwell was partitioned off in later years
careful they dont want the truth to come out
I believe that John stayed to keep a watchful eye on Victoria. There were many including her children that didn’t like Brown to the extent of his missing journal as well as Victorias writings .
Sad that a Queen couldn’t have a close male friend or love interest even as a widow. They were none too happy either by her Indian companion.
There is , I saw recently, a painting of John Brown standing while Victoria seated on her horse at Windsor Castle. HRM Queen Elizabeth was greeting her new prime minister and it was on a wall in the background.
Meu Deus, jamais
ficaria sozinha num
lugar desse 🥶😱😭
vc irá encontrar a paz' um paraíso.
Queen Elizabeth might be there now
Rest in peace
So something was protecting Queen V? Fascinating...I always think of the Royals as baddies.
I am sure there are a lot of ghosts there. It is a big place.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍😄
I love queen Victoria with lot of passion..whenever I see her pictures or her belongings, I feel as if I have seen them earlier..I feel a strong bonding with her..when I see her, her Osborne house and of course Balmoral castle, I feel I know them very well with small details..I think I was deeply connected with her when she was alive though I am an Indian and she never came her here in her life time..I too don't like kids or children the way she does..God knows the connection me and her..all said and done, I love her so much..I do not connect with any royal family except..love you all...but I don't definitely believe in ghosts and haunting..
Folk literal means countryside people!
🤔🤔🤔
@@mzwrightbella3542 A folk tale is a castle story, countryside, mountains and so on, i love castles, every castle in life tells a different story, you could produce literal movies off the anime zelda series really the lara croft equivalent!
