The way the screen turned in the mine cart stage was impressive for the NES at the time.

I admit, I haven't ever heard of this one, but I really enjoyed your personal story about it! There's something special about the first time you beat a game, especially an NES game at such a young age

It blows my mind that this game does contain a roller coaster with SEEMINGLY mode 7 rotation effect, that’s incredible considering the hardware limitations.
Not only that but it predated the snes with it’s mode 7 by 1 year.
As if this game was looking into the future for what’s coming next.

You just made my day, Trav! I spent great time playing this game back in the day. Being a Spanish speaking kid, I did not have to argue about the title's pronunciation, and, unlike Hans Gruber, I wasn't expecting to see any gorillas in the game (lol). Thank you for another great episode.

I actually do prefer the NES version as opposed to the Arcade original.
And I feel much the same way about other Arcade to console ports/conversions like Double Dragon and Contra, there's something that has made them stand the test of time more gracefully about NES 8 bit visuals.

B for Bombs maybe? For a game about gorillas this game is pretty light on gorillas. I'm still inclined to play it.

So after reading the entry for Guevara from a site that documents the manuals for Famicom games, I came up with the following reasoning:
L - ランチャー弾 (Ranchyaa Dan) : Launcher Bullets
F - 火炎放射 (Kaenhousha) : Flame Emission [add 器 to the end to make Flame Thrower]
B - 爆烈手投弾 (Bakuretsu Tenagedan) : Exploding Hand Grenades
S - 3 WAY (San WAY) ['San' means 3 in Japanese]
T - 炸裂弾 (Sakuretsu Dan) : Bursting/Exploding Bullets [No idea about this one. TNT Bullets?]
C - クリアボム (Kuria Bomu) : Clear Bomb
    K - KILL
N - Bonus [No damn clue on this one... wait. Number?]
👮- 1 UP [Free Guy, Extra Man, +1, etc.]
I would post the link to the page if UA-cam didn't autoblock URLs in comments.

Manuals from back then are also usually translated from Japanese, too so that's why it says the L weapon launches bullets. That kanji after the "launcher" in katakana means bullet, but it's also used for stuff we wouldn't call bullets, like whatever Mega Man's buster shoots, or for the grenades from the B weapon in this same game.

SNK made quality games on the SNES except the 1st 2 IKARI warriors games. They sucked. I still own guerilla war on NES.

The US was fine with dictators during the Cold War as long as they were anti-Communist dictators. Hell one of the major points in Che Guevara's pre-Cuba life was when an elected government he supported was overthrown by a US backed coup that established a military dictatorship in Guatemala

Unlimited continues really break this game for me. I beat it on my first try some years ago, and was disappointed it was already over. It's a shame. Another great SNK game, which took me longer to beat, is Iron Tank. That one is really a challenge, and it also has great music
