      It should be viewed as an invasion of privacy. Especially if you sleep in the truck. That's no different than putting a camera in someone's house without their permission.

    • @kenrobinson1099
      @kenrobinson1099  Рік тому

      @@amerikanviking drivers have been caught having sex in the sleepers and it does in fact cause legal problems for companies that have the cameras facing the driver compartment, and some of these companie employee teams that are couples which do periodically bump uglies but most sleepers do have a curtain that blocks off the driver compartment from outside intrusions through the windows. There is a cover for the Lytx cameras that will block inside views of the cabs that companies do furnish the drivers.. so it's two fold responsibility. There is another provider on youtube that talks about this and the fact that people on the receiving end of the video clips were watching him and his girl going at it and questioned him about his sex acts in the truck.. when you are off duty they have no business viewing video clips from the cab because drivers are in fact on their own time. So the short end of this is, companies are bound to exclude off time video from the cabs and can get smacked with serious legal problems.

    Stumbled across your video while searching lytx.
    We’ve had these in our trucks since April 2018. Constant aggravation and a major distraction with all the squawking/ false alerts.
    This Monday morning I return from vacation to find a coachable event for me holding a cell phone while driving (triggered by me stopping normal at a red light 😂) I know what these things are doing so I’m not dumb enough to have a phone in my hand while driving. The geniuses at lytx beg to differ.
    I had my supervisor play me the video and of course I recorded it on my phone. It’s plain as day that there’s nothing in my hand so I’m told it’s being sent back and taken care of. Two cell phone pops with this company and you’re fired.
    I’ll keep you updated if you’re interested.

    The video is good and informative but you've definitely missed some information! I've been driving with these cameras for years and we have the new updated ones as well. I see people asking about unplugging the camera, do not do this. These cameras do an auto upload daily to ensure they are working properly. They also use facial recognition. Basically its monitoring your eyes, look down long enough, or repeatedly, you'll hear the distracted driving alarm/voice. It also puts an invisible box around you. Reach out of this box for a few seconds or repeatedly, alarm goes off. The most common way to get clipped is the dual offense! This means, if you are eating, but do it quickly, the camera recognizes the movement but does not record the event, it doesn't really know if you eating or scratching an itch. Go left of center slightly and you'll get a clicking type of noise, but does not record the event, now if you go left of center, not crossing the line, just getting close and a quick look down to get a potato chip from the bag between your legs and place your hand near your mouth, the camera now recognizes a multi event going on! And it will send a clip. I've tested this camera on some different movements and actions , and more then willing to take a few write ups on my search for answers! A quick single event usually will give you some kind of warning, but not a recordable event. I've tried everything from no seatbelt to picking up a bottle and taking a drink. Always an alarm, but no event recorded. I'm not positive, but I believe if you have a recurring event, like taking a drink over and over, it will record it as an event. I hope this is helpful.

      I've done everything you've done but not for trying to push the boundaries of the camera. I know how the AI works. I have cameras set up around my home that will box anything moving and send an alert to me via email. I knew the cameras were checking in. when they were first put in the trucks I used to talk to the other drivers during hands free phone calls and would speak in code and call the cameras "ET" and we I knew they were phoning home periodically. as for the facial stuff just don't let it see your eyes and the bridge of your nose. The last company I worked for was specifically looking for people who were driving and yawning. they didn't care too much about us feasting or drinking our coffee. one of the drivers was fidgeting with his seatbelt one day without unlatching it and the safety department sent him a text over the Qualcomm telling him that he could get one of those seatbelt clips and keep his belt from overtightening. One of the drivers was busted for doing 10 over in a 40 mph speed zone. I routinely broke the speed limit and nobody ever bothered me for it, and by that I mean 75+ down hill on the Mass turnpike. I did that every single day. The camera doesn't know the speed limit where you are at any given time but it can identity speed by the signs posted along the road. I always drove with the visor down blocking my face and hosed the windshield with washer fluid when approached and passed a posted speed limit.

      It is the new drivers getting these updated units put in our trucks that benefit from your video. They wont tell us about how these new ones work. We have the old dc3 models now. If you don't hit a bump or hit the brakes, you are good. But with a computer watching and reporting you for just how you turn your head... we're fucked.

    • @kenrobinson1099

      the more I dig into the cameras the more I understand them and the more ways I can develop to disable them. the radionics+ AI and the video are on separate boards so as to ensure somebody knows there's a problem with the camera... my initial exploration with the USB hardware proved you can nuke the video side of it but the main board sandwiched with the video board containing all the cell hardware will detect an issue and report it... HOWEVER! a simple Mini Ductor Venom will destroy the entire camera in about 60 seconds but most guys don't have the funds to shell out for one.

    It’s going to take money to get lawyers to end this or, loss of money for the bean counters have it end.
    Each cam costs $500 for each truck in a FLEET. Nothing will begin to change until that amount is surpassed, and the trial will include cost analysis to include crashes, liability, etc. That takes time.

      Here in this state, recording you without your knowledge (and that's exactly what Drivecams do) is against the law. a shit pile of Dunkin Donuts shops around here got their asses handed to them by the courts for hanging cameras over their registers and recording their employees. it violates state wire tap laws. all of the cameras were removed. it's also illegal to point your home security cameras at your neighbors because it violates the same laws. A guy I know threw the argument "commercial" into the mix and I disagree with him based on the fact that laws are laws and just because the commercial entity is mobile those same laws do not change and still apply. Regardless of the whole "triggered event" bs, I'm still being recorded and my face is constantly being monitored with my conversations, and that goes completely against my grain.

    I have some ir night vision scopes and ir goggles and they all came with warnings saying do not stare or look into the ir light because it's harmful to your eyes even though it's invisible. For those that don't know how it works, ir infrared light is invisible to the naked eye so like my scope for instance has a camera in it that sees the invisible light so if it's pitch black out and I turn the scope on I can't see anything until I turn the ir light on, there are some animals that can see it but not very many. Anyway the company I drive for installed these LYTX cameras in our tractors and since it can see us in the dark it's using ir light and if you have a phone that takes pictures at night and you take a picture of the camera in the dark it will show the ir lights behind the blue covers, so I would show your company facts about ir light being harmful to a person's eyes so you want it off or out of the truck.

      I'm going to make this as simple as I can. the vents are covered with a small mesh material that has holes in it small enough to allow ventilation.. it however is impervious to the penetration of water molecules and they will simply bead up and roll off the camera.. the only way to get water in is by poking a larger hole in them and then you are back at square one and getting terminated from your job for tampering with the camera.

      they can only cram so much AI into the cameras hardware in effort to create defeats, and every time they do they are creating new flaws somebody else is going to take advantage of, and the end result is the cameras cost to manufacture are going to continue to rise which will cause customers to look elsewhere for a cheaper solution. in the end, there is nothing they can do to prevent a portable induction heater from killing the camera. • @kenrobinson1099
      @kenrobinson1099  Рік тому

      They could be but there's only so much technology they can add or create to counter tampering measures. every little thing they do to add counter measures to their devices just drives up the manufacturing cost the end buyer isn't going to want to pay for when there are cheaper alternatives... back in the 70's manufacturers of CB radios went from 23 channel cb radios that were controlled with crystals for the channel oscillators to PLL chips and 40 channels in a measure to thwart any attempts by radio hackers to add more channels to the 23 that were already in play. What they ultimately did was make it easier to add more channels by grounding the PLL chips pins with a couple of toggle switches. So ideally no matter what they do and no matter how much time they spend spying on people who want to eliminate the cameras, in the end where there's a will there's a way. As for the change from 23 to 40 channels, before the PLL chip came into play it required a lot of mucking around on the circuit board with solder and adding crystals to gain a few extra channels.. with the PLL chip 40 channel radios, one ground wire and a toggle switch would double your channels. With the camera's AI, they are basically working with fixed criteria and tend to ignore conditions that do no fit into their AI narrative so when you work out of the box for solutions, they don't know how to deal with it and simply ignore it because one false decision could end up costing them a shit ton of money in a lawsuit because their truck cab police filed a false report some asshole was unable to fully process and terminated a driver under unreasonable conditions.

This crap goes on nightly on my trip between NH and Colchester VT. One day a moose or a deer is going to run out in front of one of them and at the end of the day, BAD TRUCKER! I can't tell you how many times I've ran into a deer carcass that came out of the darkness and had to make evasive maneuvers to evade them.. and these degenerates play this game end to end night after night.. there's actually one of my videos of one playing games with one of the dairy companies that use that road nightly hauling heavy 100K+ . When I passed him the loser in front of the dairy hauler gave up on the 68 mph truck and decided to play keep away with the 75 mph truck. the people I work for were home sleeping tight in their beds and knew nothing about it because the camera's don't concentrate on jackasses... just you when you make contact with them or kill the game players when they cause an accident or fatality.

I replied yesterday with a brief reply. Mini Ductor Venom is an induction heater. I will turn lug nuts on your wheels cherry red. It will also liquify the solder joints on the circuit board of electronic devices. It was merely something to ensure the camera doesn't have an opportunity to rat before it's shot dead. The camera won't act on you just being around it. You can also try using a faraday blanket wrapped around the camera. It will prevent the camera from making a connection with the outside world.. but will not stop it from recording. I'll have more information as time passes. In a few days when I'm done with some personal projects on my home I will do a capacitor kill on my Drivecam and post the video.

The camera is only interested in "events" like speeding, following distance, what's going on in your cab (no seat belt, phone in hand, distractions, yawning) but does monitor your speed by gps to tell when you are speeding. the same data used by Waze is used by the camera to determine the correct speed and measure it against the actual speed you are moving at, so when you see that posted speed limit change, it changes with it..so when you drop from a 55 mph to a 35 mph and continue at 55 your safety department will know.

    • @kenrobinson1099
      @kenrobinson1099  3 роки тому +4

      there is no fooling the cameras. the people who manufacture them didn't leave much out... BUT! the cameras' do phone home periodically. I don't know if it's scheduled or just random. depending on how it was wired, you can put a switch in the ignition feed from whatever source it takes it from (back of ignition switch/fuse panel) and prevent the camera from waking up when the truck is started. it gets power from multiple places but is not plugged directly into the DLC and taking power from there like an ELD. there are three wires in the electrical harness.. red, dark red/maroon/ and black. the darker red/maroon wire is the ignition wire that wakes up and causes the camera to boot. so long as it doesn't get this signal it will remain at sleep. I would install a switch on both lines and turn the camera off.. depending on the people that own the truck, odds are they didn't put a lot of energy into preventing the wiring from being tampered with and ran all three of the power lines directly into the fuse panel, one constant for the power, one that powers when the key is turned on to start and run the engine, and a ground (BLACK). Whatever you do don't believe what people tell you about them not watching you.. that's an all out LIE and they DO watch even if it's when they peek in an review the store video clips. the camera has about 32GB of memory on it and stores the video in 15 second loops. when the memory fills up the oldest video rolls off. SO always bare in mind that regardless of anything you are doing, counting backwards in 15 second increments is how much video they have of you or have recorded in a consecutive loop.. THAT IS A FACT. in the MEANTIME, I own two SF64 drive cams and am in the process of showing the world how to put the cameras to sleep permanently.. I'm going to guess Lytx probably didn't count on somebody dismantling a camera and educating the driver base on what can be done to dispatch their windshield nannies. Below the blue buttons and to the left and right of the lights at bottom center is where the IR light comes from. Updated versions of the camera have a higher intensity IR LED so they can see you better in dark situations.. put some tape over those areas and night blind it. I touched on this in my videos. GOOD LUCK! and keep watching for an update on the Camera Killing!

      Probably nothing. an Induction Innovations MD-500 on the other hand would absolutely annihilate the cameras solder joints and metallic components and render the camera dead and leave no outward signs that it's been tampered with because it only heats metal and there is no real way short of breaking the plastic housing to get inside of the camera. that's not to say the camera's can't be taken apart but unless you know how they are put together I guarantee you will break something trying to seperate the shell haves enclosing the circuit boards. The Md-500 is a 12v portable version of their ac models and I can tell you from owning one that they don't play around when it comes to making metal parts hot enough to melt. there's a rope coil option you can get and wrap around the body of the camera and send it to the grave with the Ductor. Solary makes a cheap one you can get for under $150.00 but would require an ac outlet to work.

If the company does the install themselves and they don't bury the harness to the camera, unplug it. 10 Roads mechanics didn't bother to bury the wiring to the camera because they're just dopes.. so everything was exposed and easily accessible. I ordered parts to build the usb killer and it turns out one of the components I need is no longer available... rest assured though! there is a path you can take if you want to dive into killing Lytx drivecam.. You can use a generic disposable camera by opening the case and using the two polls on the flash bulb to inject the current directly into the usb port on the camera. Just be careful as the current is enough to hurt you if you don't know what you are doing.

      The truck I drove recently with these cameras was a Volvo VNL and directly under the cab over the battery is a power cut off that cuts the power to the cab and fuse panel. Every day when I parked the tractor at the end of my trip I used to cut the power so as to drain the internal battery in the camera. nobody ever griped about the camera being dead so I'm going to say you can.. HOWEVER!! recently the camera was replaced with a new SF64 which was identical to the previous cameras but the IR was visible when it was turned on by the camera in the early hours of the day. I passed some information claiming that the cameras were phoning home and checking in but it's anybody's guess as to when they are actually doing it. It could be just a random act to ensure the cameras are still working or it could be performing the action when it's booted. on average my camera was powerless for two days at a time. No matter what I tell you about the cameras, they are being changed and updated routinely and the powers that control them will never tell you the real facts about what the can and cannot do and I'm going to go out on a limb and say most of what the camera can do is fee based and cheap companies that opt for basic features don't get the periodic calls from ET. Alternatively to all of this, one of my buddies working for the same company was driving a tractor that had gotten a new windshield and the 3M tape on the mounting bracket for the camera was reused and (as you can probably imagine) the bracket wouldn't stay attached to the windshield and kept falling off. Finally the driver got tired of it swinging around and removed it and drove for days and as far as I know nobody from the safety department contacted him about it. it's a roll of the dice so if you disconnect the power, disconnect the batteries and then disconnect the camera at its power source. unless you have the tiny security bit to remove the screw holding in the plug in the side of the camera (which is a bitch to get at and hard to see) you will be better off pulling all three fuses in the power and ground lines and unplugging the connector to the DLC lines if yours has that option installed. The fuses and the option plug all come out the same end of the mesh loom around the supply lines. the dlc lines may provide sufficient current to power the camera so make sure you unplug it before igniting the engine and moving the vehicle. Look for the fresh video just posted on the power connections.

      @@LeveluplivinThe video is saved and uploaded to the Lytx operators, analyzed and reported to your safety department. Nothing you do beyond the event is going to save you from the lashings you're going to get. The video records in 15 second loops and once the on board memory fills up, the oldest video falls off. it works like any other looping camera. there is 32gb of memory on the SF64 and the video is of low quality. purportedly the camera can store up to 100 hours of video if that gives you any idea. So rule of thumb and always remember this. everything you did for the previous 15 seconds is already stored when the camera triggers.. so they already have the evidence that is needed to coach or terminate you. Believe me when I tell you this.. the engineers who developed the cameras and the AI took everything into consideration that can happen.. like a sudden impact that causes a catastrophic loss of electrical power to the unit from the vehicle batteries.. it has an onboard battery to prevent loss of evidence by keeping the on board memory alive.. pretty much works exactly like the battery in your computer that keeps the time and bios configuration in tact when you unplug it from the electrical outlet. the key to the cameras ability to rag on you is preventing it from storing anything in the first place.. that's why I am a big fan of the USB kill or some time of intentional electrical damage to the camera. Between my work life and personal projects I will eventually tell the audience exactly what it's going to take to snuff the cameras as fast and as humanely possible so as to limit the idea that they have been tampers with. There are exposed connections and I'm certain enough overcurrent over the lines will make the camera go full retard. For the moment I am concentrating on Lytx cameras. When I get more details on alternative cameras I will air my finds in videos. Hope this helps!

      @@Leveluplivin The one thing I find interesting about that particular model is how exposed the antenna is. the road side of the camera has a grill and you can peek inside the camera. it's probably made that way so as to give them the best shot at making a data connection with the cell towers. You can get lead in thin sheets and possibly make a faraday blanket to block the signal. most trucks nowadays have radars located in the bumper to alert the driver that's he's too close to the vehicle they are following. I was driving a Volvo VNL with this system and it's absolutely annoying if you are trailing another truck/car so we used several sheets of ordinary aluminum foil and covered the (VADA) which would jam the system and stop the alarms and forced braking of the truck. My main objective in all of this isn't to help create cures that could potentially raise an eyebrow of your superiors. My aim is to kill the units quickly so as to prevent them from recording anything. I will have a 3rd cam within a few days and begin the experiments. I will post video results.

Lytx only takes into account for things an average driver or electronic failures cause. they do not account for people like myself that sit around looking at the electronics level of the cameras.. just like grandma jones doesn't spend her life trying to hack into Facebook accounts but there are people who do it just for kicks.. There's a driver shortage all across this country and some companies are pulling cameras and even turning up the governed speeds of their trucks to attract drivers... the only drivers flooding into your organization are shit bags that probably have dui's and dot violations tattooed on their ass.. or just pure asshole drivers that drive at unsafe speeds in snow and ice and tailgate motorists that are merging into another lane.. saw it this morning and recorded it on my own dash cam and the operator of said truck was loaded with front, driver, and side scanning cameras, and until I notified them about said driver's crappy driving habits on ice, their cameras hadn't alerted them to anything about it. as for fooling the camera, and high voltage spike will terminate the camera before it even has a chance to recognize it's been tampered with. The cameras are only buffered from ESD from outside sources. the electronics in the cameras are not made for a 25,000 volt spike from a direct connection to USB ports... TRUST me on this.
