People say that Singing in the Phillipines is a Sport, but for us Filipinos singing is really our chill time. It helps us in catching up with our friends and it is also our refuge during hard times.
There are a lot of filipinos who can actually sing but too shy to perform. But those who doesnt have the tone gut some guts to sing at the karaoke 😂🤣😂😂
Rather than saying most Filipinos can sing, I'd say, most Filipinos are willing to sing for fun. And when something is fun one does it often. And when one does it often enough, one learns the skills [to sing]
Ricel Luanzon actually joined a singing contest on TV called TNT or Tawag ng Tanghalan (Call of the Stage) she unfortunately did not win and that day in the video she and her workmates are out to get lunch and saw Graham and read the sign Street Singing super star and when she was ask if she can sing she just said yes and enjoyed that moment. She was interviewed by Graham few weeks after cause she went viral😁
8:21 She’s indeed undercover agent. Government employee by day. Kontesera by night. 😂 Kontesera is what they call anyone who travels from one city to another to join singing contests. Mori, Katrina, Jona are examples of former konteseras.
That girl who sang Never Enough has such an amazing voice, breathing technique, and vibrato. She also knows when to tweak her pronunciations so that she could produce a better sound or a higher note. Wow. Massive applause for her!
Graham is a Filipino- British ramp and commercial Model based here in the Philippines. He’s basically a celebrity I must say. He is also a professional football player but already retired because of an injury. He’s doing this show Street Singing Superstar as a hobby. The last lady was already introduced by Graham Caygill to the Concert King Martin Nieverra and had their duet of Martin and Regine Velasquez’s popular song. The place he visited is called INTRAMUROS derived from the Latin word that means “within the wall”. It was built in the 16th century under the Spanish Imperial Government to protect the city from foreign invasions. But during the Battle of Manila in 1945 Intramuros was flattened and after the war it was reconstructed. Intramuros is considered a National Historical park. Several government agencies are headquartered in Intramuros.
I’m Filipino and I can’t ding to save my life. Most Filipinos can sing. Not many can sing well. It’s just like any other country. Most Americans know how to play baseball or basketball. Not many can play it well. It’s just in the Philippines singing is a big part of the culture. There are numerous local and National dinging competitions. Many have karaoke machines, in which is used more often than other households in other countries. The stigma of “singing only if you’re good” in public isn’t prevalent in the Philippines. Just like people in public doesn’t see a person dribbling a basketball as they casually walk down the street as a problem. Lastly, the abundance of those singing competitions has a decisive results. The individuals who rise above those competitions has proven an extremely high quality of vocal talents.
Music industry in the philippines is so tough to enter because there are so many good singers everywhere. Every local channel have their own singing competition with different concepts. Every city, every barangay holds yearly competitions during fiestas.
Every Sunday there are radio stations play old songs(OPM)..These are for our elders who are more music lovers..Filipinos loves music much..We feel music enlighten our selves from boredom.😘
They reconnected with that last lady and set her up to sing with the Concert King, Martin Nievera and she got to sing a duet with him. Here’s the link: ua-cam.com/video/mdEmhPNaJF4/v-deo.html
Ironically, my parents plus us three kids are all singers. 😁 I have 37 cousins from mom's side and those 37 cousins all sing! Plus add the three of us, we are 40 1st degree cousins that all sing. 😁 Yun pa lang I could say a lot of Pinoys sing really good. 😊

There's not a birthday party without a karaoke in the Philippines. There's not a town fiesta, Christmas celebration, new year, anniversary, you name it, without karaoke. From the day we were born, karaoke has always been present.
I have a co worker way back who when ever he sang on the karaoke in a bar we would usually drink for free cause the crowd are amazed at how well he sang...

Pinoy has a lot of gut for singing, even those who are out of tune. These out of tune singers brings singing confidence to those who sings better and it really take away their shyness in singing because they know they can sing better, after this here comes a much better but also shy singer coming out of his/her shell now knowing he/she can do it better then comes another much much better shy singer coming out of their shell and so on. After getting out of their shells, these singers become monster singer, hard to beat in karaoke and competitions. Mind you, though not many as you might thought but hey, they are countless here in the Philippines. They say i am a good singer but i accepted to be a band drummer during my teens because my band mates sings a lot better then me. My older brother can beat me easilly in singing and my late Dad used to sing in a local radio stations in our province before. More power to your channel.
