Wow, nicely done. 👍 I know what you mean being surprised by how hard it was to cut the through the casings. I told our ten year old to put what he wants in his ferro rod handle epoxy casting and rather than add pine cones and fatwood he added a few pennies. I didn't think the pennies would be too hard to cut through lol. You had me curious on this one. I was going to try it.
i want to make a shift knob for my car with some shell casings that my grandfather gifted to me when i was younger since he helped me buy that car months before he passed away
Thank You, well that was a snap on screwdriver and dad wasn't happy about the handle rotting off, it worked out great for it, as it could for many other things, shifter knobs, cane handles ect.

Hey I just happened to be sick and couldn't sleep and I saw your video and is amazing. Love tools and u should make the for sale. Thanks for getting my spirit back up!!!
357, 45ACP, 40S&W, 22Mag, 223, (but why would you have 9mm when there's a 40 or 357 handy)-you're speaking my language now! (Born and raised WY, those numbers mean more than telephone numbers) Might have tumbled them a bit to get them pretty, but the handle turned out awesome! And for the naysayers, carbide is far harder than brass...just sayin'. Fantastic idea!
well the 40 belongs to my son in law, and the rest are pricey to just throw down range, 9mm's are cheap ! I thought about tumbling them after the fact, did I miss what the naysayers were sayin ? I knew I could cut the brass with the carbide I just didn't expect the brass to be that hard, I should have run the lathe faster than I did. Glad you liked it, it really was an experiment that turn out Great I think.
Like, when you say something such as "carbide is far harder than brass" my brain completely agrees. Yet my thought watching the video was "Man, he better watch out for that metal". lol, weird how sometimes it just doesn't click.
@Azhaar Laghari Because I own a 45 & 40, both of which have more kinetic knock down power than a 9mm. Have had 9's-have no use for them. Personal preference-if you like the 9mm platform, good for you. I prefer the 45 & 40-is what it is.
@thomas lee good old 40 short & weak. Most LEO's and Feds have gone back to the 9mm as better generation of bullets than when the short and weak came out. Now 10MM is where it is at for the non-pussy feds.
I've put my 40 up against a 9, and it's by no means weak. If I feel it's not enough, I'll carry my 45. As said, you're entitled to your opinion-doesn't mean I have to agree with it, nor you mine.
@@PohlBarnProductions i would love to see that tried even still. I feel if maybe you used .22lr casings and layed them flat along your path of cut they may stay within the resin for the most part.
always used the long screwdrivers to spin the shank fast with my finger tips. if the length of the driver is causing serious torque problems you're probably doing something wrong. phillips is trash anyway.
+firebirdude2 actually long screwdriver shafts don't eat up torque. The reason for this is torque is in units of force times distance, but the distance of course is not distance along the axis of rotation (the screwdriver shaft) but instead distance away from the axis. This is one reason screwdrivers have handles; the bigger the handle, the more torque to the shaft is provided by a given force. Not the length of the shaft.

This is an interesting idea. I'd be interested to see a version done where the first cast was narrower - then this cast was put into a second fatter cast of resin so that when turning the screwdriver handle's on the lathe there would be a buffer zone of clear resin and the shell casings would remain intact behind this at the finish.

Thank You Vyran, the brass casing needed to be annealed, they were unbelievably hard, I did not know this or I would have annealed them to soften them,
All kinds of metals need to be annealed/softened before you can work them. Even metals like copper and silver. Once softened it's so much easier to work with. Getting the some metals annealed can be very tricky. Every metal needs to get to the right temperature to get annealed. Some need different heat treatment to get soft just right. Some metals need to be heated up and cooled down 2 to 3 times to get annealed. Because of the different additives used. I've had some issues with lead, brass, steels and even copper in the pass. I'm now making my own metals in the shop for my own products. I've tried many different mixtures. Just to get exactly what I needed in weight but size were way off. Many people like to make there own brass bullet casings. To get there idea weights for shooting. Sniper school taught me to make my own bullets. To know exactly what I'm shooting. How far my bullets will go. How make and use my own gun power used for each shot. I new how my bullets would act. From being consistent with every bullet I made. I had faith in each bullet made myself and I new how they would act in flight. I sometimes tried different brass casing that I've made. Just to see how the different additives would do or fail. We tried different strengths sizes and case weights. Even trying more and less of our own gunpowder mixtures for each bullet we studied. Most people would skip this and part and just go out and buy the empty containers in bulk. I used to go to the shooting range early in the morning and pick up as many as I could find or I would buy empty casing at the range. I would also go to where the local police would practice at. This little nice Gun Shop with a large shooting range in the basement. If you ever need to know the right annealing technique and temperature ranges for the different kinds of metals your needing to annealed to be safe most brass is around 500° to 600° for one hour. If that doesn't work try between 725 to 800° for a 10 to 15 secend at most and that should do. Metals are getting worse by using and reusing over and over. All the recycling through the years. People are not really paying attention to the quality of reused metals. Watch how the quality is starting to effect soft metal over time. Some metal companies are starting to deny recycled metal. We've been buying crappy metals from around the world that's so tainted and could infect the other metals. Its making our metals more expensive. We have to add different additives to clean out other properties added to the crappy metals. We should of never closed our metal making company. Wev sent the to the other side of the world. Were importing really messed up and bad quality metals. More and more companies are coming back. The key to the senses is to try and lower the price as much as possible to keep the the company's from buying the bad metals from outside sources. Unless the Government gets involved to set up quality standards here and abroad. But fat chance with the stupid people things the worlds going to end from climate change. LOL this isn't the first time the world that the climate has changed. It's like commonsense has died with the adaption of computer and game system invented and Democrat invasion of public school's and colleges. To push there crazy idolizlolge on our children. That's why I left college. I felt it wasn't right to have only Democrat and no other parties in schools. I felt schools failed not only me but our students as well. They shouldn't of been allowed in schools or colleges to push stupid idolizlolge on the students without another party able stand up against them. Now we have a communist trying to kill our capitalist economy. Doesn't anyone remember or talk about Socialist party like Berry Sanders or Hitler and his socialist ideology that brainwashed millions. We are heading that way again. 60 years ago we had the Socialist hearing in America. Some people were even executed over them hearing. Its starting again were it last started in California. I never thought in my life we would have communist party running for president. Berry Sander and Bloomberg buying his way in to wreak the American Dreams.
