Great job!!! The red colour is interesting together with the brown wood. A wonderful vase that makes my fantasy spin. Best regards / Peter, former art student, Sweden, Europe
Previously, I loved the berry blue that u did, now that I've seen red-- omg it's absolutely beyond extraordinary!! Love it! Really makes the wood pop😍😍😍
I have watched several articans make epoxy art, I do love the red, didnt see the green. But I wonder, with so much waste of the expensive epoxy, is there a time when you can recycle some of the shavings ? Thankx for sharing your skills with us !
Looks nice! I sprayed laquer for many years in a big architectural wood working shop in Rhode Island - which btw is where Jamestown Distributors is. I’ve had that happen before. It’s called solvent popping. The surface is pushed to dry to fast before all the carrier solvents can escape so they pop through the harder surface making those marks. Another reason can be using off the shelf solvent for thinning. It’s always best to use same solvent the laquer was made from. I’ve spayed 1000’s of gallons of laquer ! I’ve seen ALL the problems and at all the worst times!!! Like when the boss walks by!!! Glad I found your channel. You do some cool stuff!
Despite the voids, this turned out really great! :D I love wood and resin projects, it's always a mystery, but the result is so awesome! :D Something I always do when I combine wood I've found in nature with resin, I put them in the oven at low heat for a couple of hours to make sure it's as dry as possible. Resin absolutely HATES moisture and I really wanna avoid screwing up a project and waste resin :)
Thanks Connie. I thought the same thing. A table saw is an expensive piece of equipment that can bite you in the ass in an instant. It is not the place to junk up with spilled resin or other crap. That is what the workbench is for.
@@PohlBarnProductions no, problem, some my say to use a vibrating device, however in my experience I think that a vacuum chamber would be best. Apart from a vacuum pump they are easy to build and are very powerful, that's why they are used on most products that need to guarantee the bubbles are removed, from fibre glass yachts to jewellery molds.
Hey, I want to thank you for your transparency. You were willing to show some problems you encountered and how you dealt with it. Most wouldn't dare to show a 'problem' they gotta act like nothing ever goes wrong for them. Thanks for being real, because the rest of us DO have problems, and the temptation for many is to hide it or destroy it... you show how to make it look good despite the problem. Way to go!!!!
Thank you Scott, before I started this channel I couldn't find many who had issues and how to get around them, I connected with those people so I thought I would do the same.
That's ONE of the reasons I enjoy your site as much as I do... the SECOND reason is that your laugh reminds me of a really good friend I lost to cancer 20 years ago... it's uncanny. Anyway, thanks again for the great videos you put out
This is the first of your videos that I have seen, but I think the vase is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen! I am just starting in resin art, but I truly believe I was meant to be a wood worker. I just get excited when I see someone turning a piece of wood into something completely different and beautiful. Thank you for sharing your gift.
My hubby & I picked up turning not long ago & have been watching many of your video's. This piece is lovely & your work across the video's with the tips & fixes is just fantastic. Thank you for posting them & wish you continued success for many years into the future. :)
This is 1 of my all time favorites from you. It is almost a genre of its own. It actually IS for me. I plan to turn an entire series in this "genre", "style" "motiff" etc.
This is so awesome! I am asking my hubby to make me a workshop at his body shop. My dad was a woodworker and so was his father. Hopefully he can help me learn. Watching your videos makes my day! Its so calming and you always get an awesome reward at the end. The finished product is beautiful!
Alan, You probably already know this but putting your epoxy under a vacuum rather than pressure while curing will do better eliminating air bubbles. As you know you start with vacuum and after it has boiled off for a few minutes you let it go back to atmosphere. Cured a lot under a bell jar over the years. Keep up the great work. Love your work!!
Thank you...Doug- My name is Doug not Alan. I do know that and until recently I did not have the equipment for vacuum, I just did one like you suggested this week, I guess we will see how that works out. Thanks for watching.
@@PohlBarnProductions Doug, I am so sorry. I do not know how I came up with Alan. I will keep watching Doug as you are very creative and produce some beautiful pieces.
I don’t know what everybody else thinks about it but I love it I think it looks super cool and that driftwood is really really nice and really stands out makes a statement that’s for sure that red Apoxsee looks really really nice so that bass came up for today I’m good keep doing it thank you for teaching me more appreciate it do you have a great day God bless
Most people wouldn't have given those branches a second look, but you turned them into a thing of beauty! Kudos to you!
Thank You, not even worth being fire wood
I love your patience and persistence! It reminds me that anything worth doing requires both of those. I thing the vase turned out beautiful!
Doug, it's Beautiful! You don't give yourself enough credit.
Thank you Shawna. I know I don't.
Taking scrap wood. Pouring a resin on it and turning a beautiful piece are artwork. Absolutely beautiful
Thank You Bob
I love this. that green and some purple would look cool 😃
Thank you Emilly, HMMMMM Green and Purple sounds good, on the ta do list !

Thank you Ed, they all give me some fits, just gotta work through them.
The resin is as clear as any colored glass. Beautiful vase
Yes! Thank you Judith!
Nice. Who said you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. That color blends very well with the wood, nice work and keep smiling.

You do realize that the flaws are what make an individual piece unique. Therefore, your flaws make it more meaningful. Love it.
Thank You Yes I do. I sell these pieces so I make sure everyone knows what those flaws are ahead of time.
Gotta admit, the title caught my eye!

You made me soo nervous working on top of your table saw. My husband would have freaked. great job though!
