The engine of the Audi S4 that is placed in front of the axis and the allroad drive lead to a terrible weight distribution. A lot of Audi drivers have the feeling, that their car ist sporty, because the steering is so easy going if you compare it for example with a C 55 AMG. But if you evaluate the importand facts that make a good sportscar the S4 has simply a very bad weight distribution which leads to very unsporty understearing.

The V8 in these sit really far forward in the car which causes the understeer. They still are really fun on the back roads. Plenty of power, quattro, and the heavy feel while shifting makes for a great combo. Love my B6S4!! My favorite car I've ever had and I've had around 20 cars. The timing chain guides in the B6 and B7 however are the achilles hill on these cars. Upgrade to some RS guides and the motor will be bulletproof!!
@@steventhacker350 your exactly right, and even with the poor weight distribution it still handles tightly. With a short wheelbase and proper patience on the throttle it can turn beautifully. One overlooked fact of the far forward weight is that under braking and when rolling it actually pulls in really well.

@@tjock-tv5181 actually, I was a B6 8E owner myself, with the 2.0 Liter Engine. It consumed more Oil than Gasoline, and it was driving me Nuts, I'm gonna tell you. Not only did my old Love Burn the Oil, she was also leaking it. Together with the Power Steering Oil.
@@kevinstegne5206 I'm very satisfied. I own it since 2016 and I haven't had any serious problems. Some parts are a little bit more expensive then other cars from this year but still on good price (don't forget the fact that it's an Audi). Fuel consumption depends from the type of driving.

@@kevinstegne5206 In Golf 5 and B7 the 1.9TDI is less powerfull(105hp and 115hp) maybe you will want a 2.0 TDI. It's also a good engine. The Golf will give you a better fuel consumption, but the Audi is made with better materials quality. There is no big difference between B6 and B7, they have the same interiors and the difference is only in the front and the taillights. I personally like more the B6. If you find one in good condition I think you will fall in love with VAG
I had A3 1.8t and after A4 2005 1.8t quattro and really regretting selling it. Bought VW instead but im going to buy S4 wagon. Hopefully keeping for a while... RS4 would be better but price tag is out of my family budget... S4 seems like a great cruiser...
Have one too and totally agree! I still think it sounds much better than most of the newer V8s(especially at low RPMs). Maintenance is a nightmare though 😀

Dále výměna mikrospínače zámku dveří řidiče (mikrospínač nefungoval), vyleštění škrábanců na skle budíků vlevo dole, odstranění stahovacích pásků na svazku zapalovacích cívek, přilepení odchlíplého čalounění pod sklem na motoru, výměna deklu akumulátoru (ulomené packy deklu), výměna měrky oleje (ulomené oko měrky), výměna dvířek přihrádky spolujezdce (ulomené a opravované panty), dodělání klíčů (k autu byl jen jeden), výměna ulomeného držáku sluneční clony spolujezdce, výměna rozpraskaných plastů na spodku auta (podélné plasty), doplnění plastu u levého předního podběhu, výměna mikrospínače přední kapoty (byl také vadný), výměna oleje v převodovce a v zadní nápravě, výměna předního plastu na motoru (byl ulomený a opravovaný, viditelný lom), rozchození vířivých klapek (byl zatuhlý hřídel, vačka klapky byla stále ve stejné poloze a nešlo s tím hnout), výměna ramen přední nápravy a silentbloků motoru, obou nápravnic a převodovky, výměna prasklé prachovky kardanu na převodovce, výměna akumulátorů nefunkční houkačky alarmu vzadu vpravo v blatníku kufru (akumulátor vyměněn a houkačka opět funguje) a další drobnosti.

Very different cars, I’m a bit more BMW fan, but this Audi seems to be much more reliable and it is also huge fun to drive it. It really depends, what do you prefer.

I think oil consumption must be car to car, I have never used even a quart of oil, however I change my oil every 3000 miles, at least no quarts between 3000 miles
@@muldix sorry to tell you bud, the 4.2 is not the same as any other v8. For one the timing is on the rear of the motor which requires an engine pull to do the work. Tell me another v8 you have to do that to? As well as needing timing chain service at 80k miles that cost upwards of 7 grand. But hey if you like the car you like the car.

I have a 2004 S4 sedan and love it. 98000 km on it and it runs well. Expensive to maintain, and thirsty for fuel, but so much fun to drive!

It's also very heavy. Fun factor is not always about pure speed :-) And you can trust me, in higher speed you can feel the power of V8.
