Thank you! I ordered the TRQ strut assemblies for both the front and rear and they are OEM quality. They work great! And this video helped a lot too!

Helpful and to the point. Like that you call out the torque specs as that is super helpful. Also for you guys about to do these struts, get a ratcheting 12 mm and a 13mm wrench. Those top nuts are a Pain without that. Also I went back with the factory nuts as they have a stand-off built into them which keeps the nut high as they go down in a recess. The replacement nuts were standard lock nuts and go too far down in that recess making the wrench almost impossible to keep seating correctly around those nuts. A socket doesn’t fit well either.

The most recent estimate I got on the Internet for doing the rear struts on a 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS was $613.15. Good video too.

great video. i watched then went out and did my car today. A few things: Allen wrench instead of pliers on sway bar bolt, definitely use a center punch or the like to get big knuckle bolts out once nut is off, when replacing use an 3" extension in the hole to line up strut if you cant knuckle bolt back in, the furthest back bolt on top of the strut has very limited space: make sure you have a tool that'll fit

I use 20v DeWalt half inch drive impact , being a mechanic for 48 years once batt. operated tools came out that's all I used and still do . No need to have a compressor at my house !

For those confused about knuckle bolt torque:
Manual says 188 ft-lb for new nuts, 145 for used nuts. Why? Idk. It only does this for the rear; the front are just 156 ft-lb.

Why not just stick a screwdriver through the bottom strut hole and then un bolt the top. Would it still fall?

These parts are listed in the description as 2002 Toyota, but in the hyperlink above, its goes to 2004. Will these still fit properly?

Hmm, this wasn't so bad... I think I can do this and save $1000 of quoted labour. I may take it in for an alignment, though.

No offense man, but it looks like a couple of the lug nuts were beyond the torque wrench setting just from the impact. I get that you're saving time by running them down - but at least do a good job for the camera.
